  • Patent number: 4640398
Abstract: In a friction clutch for motor vehicles the pressure plate is connected to the clutch housing for common rotation about the common axis by a plurality of leaf springs which are tangential with respect to the common axis of the clutch housing and the pressure plate. The clutch housing has a predetermined direction of rotation which results from the sense of rotation of the combustion engine which is to be connected by the respective frictional clutch to the gear box of the motor vehicle. The leaf springs have--with respect to the predetermined direction of rotation--a leading end portion and a trailing end portion. The leading end portion of all leaf spring elements are fastened to the pressure plate and the trailing end portions of all leaf springs are fastened to the clutch housing.

  • Patent number: 4640402
Abstract: The clutch disc for a motor vehicle friction clutch comprises a hub and a friction lining carrier mounted rotatably on the hub. A torsional vibration spring means is arranged in the torque transmission path between the friction lining carrier and the hub. A torsional vibration damper comprises at least two friction elements lying axially resiliently flat against one another. One of the friction elements is connected non-rotatably with the hub and the other friction element is connected non-rotatably with the friction lining carrier. One of the friction elements is held displaceably in the radial direction, along the friction face of the other friction element, on the hub or the friction lining carrier. • Patent number: 4640758
Abstract: For the electrodeposition of a metal coating onto a surface of an endless belt, such as a press belt for use in a double band press, an annular bath is formed by a pair of endless belts. The belts have different diameters and are arranged concentrically about a center point on a horizontal base plate. The belts extend vertically upwardly from the base plate so that one belt forms the radially inner surface of the bath and the other forms the radially outer surface, an aqueous electrolytic solution is filled into the annular bath. An anode is supported in the bath and one of the endless belts forms a cathode. The anode and cathode are connected to a constant voltage source and a metal coating can be deposited on the belt acting as the cathode. A mast extends vertically upwardly from the center point and is supported on the base plate. Horizontal arms extend outwardly in opposite directions from the mast and support the anode.

  • Patent number: 4639942
Abstract: The present invention concerns the measuring of a silicon coating on paper or cardboard moving in the form of a continuous web and which may as fillers contain substances containing silicon such as kaolin, or aluminum silicate. By x-ray radiation from a primary radiation source (3) and passing through the web is excited the characteristic x-ray radiation of an element, in a secondary radiation source (7) on the silicon coating side of the paper web (1), having a higher ordinal number than silicon (Si). The exciting radiation is sent obliquely against the surface of the paper or cardboard, whereby the irradiation of the surface is accentuated and the characteristic x-ray radiation of the silicon in the silicon coating can be excited. The exciting radiation also partly excites the silicon in the filler, but in this case it will be accompanied by the characteristic x-ray radiation of the metal associated with the silicate, such as aluminum in the instance of kaolin.

  • Patent number: 4638870
Abstract: A motor driven hand-held device for rotating a tool, includes a housing with an axis of rotation containing an electrically conductive liquid mass located within a sealed non-electrically conductive container. A magnetic field is established in the housing by a permanent magnet and a part of the liquid mass is located within the magnetic field. If the housing is turned or twisted around the axis of rotation, relative movement takes place between the liquid mass and the container in the magnetic field. Due to the movement of the mass in the magnetic field, a voltage is induced in the mass and the voltage can be tapped by electrodes extending into the container. The tapped voltage can be used as an electrical signal.

  • Patent number: 4639163
Abstract: A drive shaft having an annular groove is placed in driving connection with a coupling sleeve by engagement members which constitute spherical balls radially movable within apertures in the coupling sleeve for engagement within the annular groove of the drive shaft. A locking ring engaging around the engagement members holds them in the locked position within the annular groove and when the mechanism is in the unlocked position, the locking ring is held axially away from the locked position by a latching member which engages within the apertures of the coupling sleeve to hold the locking ring in the unlocked position against the biasing force of a spring. A guide ring affixed to the coupling sleeve guides the locking ring by means of a gripping sleeve affixed thereto for movement relative to the coupling sleeve axially and nonrotatively with the guide ring including apertures through which the latching member engages when it is moved between the latched and the unlatched positions.

  • Patent number: 4639162
Abstract: In a mechanism for connecting together in torque transmitting engagement a coupling sleeve and a power takeoff shaft, particularly in agricultural implements, there is provided a drawing lock which may be arrested in the open position. The drawing lock includes a locking ring which holds a plurality of radially movable torque transmitting balls in their locked position during torque transmission of the assembly. A slotted spring ring is provided which engages the torque transmitting balls to hold them radially inwardly thereby to arrest the device in the open position. When a power takeoff shaft is inserted into the bore of the coupling sleeve, the torque transmitting balls are moved radially outwardly and, as a result, the slotted spring ring resiliently expands in diameter thereby to cause a first stop face of the ring to become disengaged from a supporting face of a supporting ring which is axially affixed to the coupling sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4639379
Abstract: The invention provides a very efficient method for the improvement of the antistatic performance, e.g. decrease in the accumulation of static electricity on the surface and decrease in the surface resistivity, of a synthetic resin shaped article with outstanding durability of the effect. The method comprises two steps in principle, first of which is the formation of a crosslinked layer in the surface portion of the shaped article by a variety of known methods effective for the formation of crosslinks in polymeric materials and the second of which is the exposure of the thus crosslinked surface of the article to low temperature plasma produced in an atmosphere containing a gaseous silicon-containing compound which may be a silane compound or a low-molecular weight vaporizable siloxane compound to form a plasma-polymerized surface film of the silicon compound on the crosslinked layer.
