  • Patent number: 4652060
Abstract: In a method for antiskid control of a vehicle, the operating condition of a two-channel type antiskid control device is arranged to be shiftable according to the road surface condition, in such a manner that, in the case of a so-called split road surface condition, the braking force is maintained as much as possible on wheels which remain sufficiently in contact with the road surface, so that the brake distance can be prevented from lengthening without losing the maneuverability of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4651788
Abstract: In order to be able to simultaneously fill with a liquid, gaseous or solid flowable medium, without it being necessary to measure and monitor the filling volume or weight of each container, the filling plant has a pipeline system (10) for conveying the medium to be filled with a plurality of drawing-off lines (13, 113, 213) leading to the filling valves (20, 120, 220) and in which are arranged volume chambers (40, 140, 240) with rotors rotated by the medium flowing through the same, arranged jointly on a shaft (40) with a system pressure-dependent controlled brake (45). A balance (50) is only associated with a single filling valve (20) of the valves controlled by a control cylinder (25) and is used for controlling said cylinder (25). A feed pump (15) connected upstream of the filling valve (120) associated with balance (50) ensure a uniform exit velocity of the medium in the container when pressure fluctuations occur in the pipeline system (11, 13, 113, 213).

  • Patent number: 4650229
Abstract: A lock arrangement to be secured in a door panel is formed of as few parts as possible and includes a pair of knobs to be secured to the opposite sides of the door panel and an elongated latch bolt. The latch bolt is operated by an actuating pin eccentrically arranged within and extending between the knobs. The actuating pin interconnects the knobs so that they can be turned together. The knobs have the same outside configuration and the knob surfaces which face one another each have a recessed edge which fits into a bore formed in the door panel extending between the knobs. The actuating pin operating the latch bolt is located in the locking position of the bolt on an extension of the elongated direction of the bolt. A spring biases the bolt into the locking position. A retaining pin extends between and is centered relative to the knobs and secures the knobs to the door panel.

  • Patent number: 4649185
Abstract: The contact lens of the invention is shaped of a poly(trimethylvinylsilane) resin having an average molecular weight of at least 200,000 or a copolymer based thereon. The contact lens has a very high oxygen permeability comparable to conventional transparent silicone rubbers so as to ensure a long time of continued wearing of the lens on the cornea with no adverse physiological influences and the material still has much better mechanical workability for precision shaping into a lens form than the transparent silicone rubbers.

  • Patent number: 4648147
Abstract: A tension tie member is anchored between two spaced locations on a structure, such as a diagonal cable in a stayed girder bridge. The tie member is supported on the structure adjacent at least one anchor location by an annular bearing member encircling an outer protective casing of the tie member. The bearing member is positioned within an annular chamber in the structure at the point where the tie member extends through the structure toward the anchor location. The diameter of the annular chamber is larger than the diameter of the tie member so that there is a certain amount of play between the bearing member encircling the tie member and the surface of the annular chamber whereby lateral movement of the tie member can occur. With the tie member anchored in place the space between the outside of the bearing member and the inside surface of the annular chamber can be filled with grout to support the tie member.

  • Patent number: 4648646
Abstract: A device for gripping, lifting and releasing a member, such as a package or individual article, used in automatic handling apparatus where two gripping arms are pivotally mounted so that they can be pivoted into and out of gripping relation with a member. The device can grip the member and place it carefully on a surface where it is surrounded laterally by similar members. In the placing operation the member gripped and the laterally surrounding members are not deformed. The gripping arms are pivoted at one end and grip the member at the other. The pivoted ends of the gripping arms can be moved away from or toward one another while being pivoted for effecting gripping or releasing of the member.

  • Patent number: 4648837
Abstract: A walking beam furnace comprises a hearth formed by fixed and walking beams disposed with their axes in the feed direction. Both the walking beams and the fixed beams are divided at positions spaced apart in the feed direction into sections, and each section of each beam is staggered relative to the adjacent section. As a result, the material to be annealed comes into contact with the cooled fixed beams at different positions at each of the conveying pauses and temperature balancing takes place at the points of contact.

  • Patent number: 4648146
Abstract: In the assembly of a tension tie member between spaced anchors when the tie member is made up of a number of individual tension elements, such as steel wires, steel strands or the like, enclosed within a tubular sheathing, the tension elements are inserted individually and successively between the anchors and it is necessary to insert the annular wedges which anchor each element before the tension elements are released from a threading device. To prevent the annular wedges from prematurely entering into the boreholes in the anchor plate, an auxiliary plate is positioned spaced from the anchor plate. The auxiliary plate has at least one through borehole axially alignable with the boreholes in the anchor plate. A tubular section is secured to the auxiliary plate and forms an extension of the borehole therein. An annular wedge to be inserted into one of the boreholes and the anchor plate can be held on the tubular section by resiliently expanding the wedge about the outer surface of the tubular section.

  • Patent number: 4648517
Abstract: A shelf support structure with upright posts of sheet metal sections and horizontal braces of sheet metal sections, connecting these with each other, provides with a simple structure an inherently stable connection between the posts and the horizontal braces. The sheet metal sections of the posts have an aperture at one longitudinal side and are symmetrical in cross-section with respect to a plane crossing this aperture. The aperture is terminated on both sides by flanges protruding outwardly at right angles from the walls adjoining it and a longitudinal ledge protruding into the post is located opposite the aperture, symmetrically to the plane crossing the aperture. The horizontal braces engage with their ends into the sheet metal sections forming the posts up to the wall lying opposite the aperture and are there equipped with an indentation in whose area they embrace the longitudinal ledge in the posts in a fork-like manner.
