  • Patent number: 4646991
Abstract: A controllable flow deflection system for guiding the flow of a fluid medium in a desired discharge direction includes a steered deflection device mounted in a body or support member. The deflecting device includes a rotatable element containing at least one outlet opening for discharging the fluid medium which flows to the element from a reservoir. A driving and braking device is connected to the rotatable element. The one or more outlet openings are arranged so that the discharged fluid medium does not cause any torque on the rotatable element, or a torque is developed from a combination of two torque vectors symmetrical with respect to the axis of rotation of the element. Such a system may be used in a thrust system for steering a flying body member, in a secondary injection system, or in a hot gas motor, such as a vane motor.

  • Patent number: 4647003
Abstract: An actuating device operated by a pressure medium, such as compressed air, acting within a housing, can be secured to a valve by a mounting member attached to the valve. The actuating device includes a first piston guided in a cylinder part positioned on one side of the center part of the housing. A toothed rack is attached to the first piston and is in meshed engagement with a pinion shaft located within the center part of the housing. The pinion shaft is connected by a coupling part to the valve shaft. The same actuating device can be used for a larger valve by placing a second piston in another cylinder part on the opposite side of the center part from the first piston with a toothed rack attached to the second piston and in meshed engagement with the pinion shaft. The first and second pistons act in opposite directions and double the torque acting on the pinion shaft as compared to the torque delivered by the first piston.

  • Patent number: 4645518
Abstract: In a method of reducing the gas content of a liquid in which the liquid is propelled, preferably in a closed circuit, by a centrifugal pump (1), an improved degasification capability is achieved by extracting a portion of the liquid from the suction side of the pump blades (5, 18) in the region of the impeller axis, preferably via a passage (20) extending through a hollow drive shaft (21) of the impeller (14), and conducting this portion of the liquid through a liquid stilling zone (55, 56) where fine gas bubbles are separated from the liquid. The degassed liquid is preferably returned to the liquid in the inlet pipe (15) upstream of the pump (1), where it is set in rotation by a helical member (10). The liquid extracted from the pump (1) may be sucked out by means of an auxiliary rotary pump (3), or it may be entrained by injecting a high speed stream through a venturi nozzle (39) housed by the impeller (14) coaxially with the hollow drive shaft ( 21).

  • Patent number: 4645098
Abstract: A press-out piston is movably displaceable through an axially extending container holding a flowable plastic substance for dispensing the substance as the piston is forced through the container. The radially outer circumference of the piston has an annular groove in which an elastically deformable sealing ring is positioned. The base of the groove is conically shaped about the axis of the container and diverges outwardly toward the rear end of the container. When the piston is pressed toward the front end of the container for dispensing the substance, the sealing ring is moved axially relative to the piston and is pressed radially outwardly against the inside surface of the container. As a result, the seal for the piston is dependent on the pressure directed against the substance for dispensing it out of the container.

  • Patent number: 4645326
Abstract: Cameras of the kind having a computer circuit for control actions such as sequence control, etc. are arranged to render the computer circuit inoperative for prevention of an erroneous action in the event of a drop in the power supply voltage. However, in case that the voltage drop takes place during a data transfer process within the computer circuit, if the computer circuit is rendered inoperative immediately after the voltage drop, an erroneous data would be transferred to a memory circuit. Whereas, this invention provides arrangement to keep the computer circuit operative until completion of data transfer in the case of a voltage drop during the process of data transfer to the memory circuit.

  • Patent number: 4645054
Abstract: According to an example embodiment of this invention, a clutch disc comprises a primary hub, a seconday hub and a lining carrier. The primary hub is angularly movable with respect to the secondary hub and the secondary hub is angularly movable with respect to the lining carrier. First load transmitting springs are provided between the primary hub and the secondary hub. Second load transmitting springs are provided between the secondary hub and the lining carrier. The second springs have a steeper spring characteristic than the first springs. Abutments are provided on both the primary hub and the secondary hub. The second springs are pre-stressed. When an increasing load is transmitted the angular movement of the secondary hub with respect to the lining carrier begins before the abutments of the primary and the secondary hubs engage each other.

  • Patent number: 4644149
Abstract: A photoelectric transducer element responsive to ambient light and a combination of ambient and projected light from light emitting apparatus operates with a predetermined cycle by signals from an oscillator. This produces respective output signals which are then stored on first and second storing apparatus. Signals from the storing apparatus provide information necessary for photographing, since the storing operation is synchronized with the oscillating operation.

  • Patent number: 4644413
Abstract: In the disclosed automatic tracking control device, a moving element in a VTR laterally moves a pick-up head relative to a recording track on a recording medium. A first control circuit produces a control signal for controlling the moving element to cause the head to trace recording tracks on the recording medium, and a sampling circuit samples the control signal produced by the first control circuit at times approximately corresponding to the mid-point of the movement of the lateral head. A second control controls a drive for driving the recording medium on the basis of the signal sampled by the sampling circuit.

  • Patent number: 4643011
Abstract: In gas springs, shock absorbers and the like, the cylinder member may be provided with an interconnection groove on its internal face. This groove is to interconnect two working chambers on both sides of a piston member movably received within the cylinder member. This interconnection groove is produced by a roller member introduced into the cavity of the cylinder member and having an axis substantially perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder member. The roller member has an annular elevation on its circumferential surface which is to engage the internal face of the cylinder member. A support face profiled according to the profile of the external face of the cylinder member is brought into contact with the external face of the cylinder member. The elevation of the roller member is angularly aligned with a metal receiving groove of the support face.
