  • Patent number: 5702063
Abstract: It is necessary for yarn which is wound into packages on supports or centers and is intended to be dyed, or at any rate subsequently employed for other uses, to be able to form, on an annular zone at the sides of the support a number of turns of "reserve" yarn available and intended for joining to the yarn of a subsequent package. In order to fasten the yarn end, a guide notch is formed in the edge of the annular zone and is combined with a portion of very little thickness which can be torn by the yarn which is inserted and forced into the notch such that it becomes wedged in the tear and is held therein. This anchoring device may be provided in either the base or the top of the center, or in both the base and the top of the center, in order to fasten both ends of the wound yarn.

  • Patent number: 5702576
Abstract: The present invention pertains to an electronic measuring cell for detecting components in fluid media. Such a measuring cell is to be improved such that hermetic sealing of the contact wires leading out of the measuring cell is possible in a housing of a slightly modified design to prevent electrolyte from escaping. To achieve this, an annular space extending in parallel to the circumferential direction of the housing between the measuring cell cover and the housing is filled with an electrolyte- and temperature-resistant sealing material, and the contact wires are led through.

  • Patent number: 5702596
Abstract: A water collection trough has an edge arranged in the plane of a roof and a bottom, arranged with spacing from the edge, with an opening. The opening leads to a drainage pipe mounted down at the bottom of the trough. Two parallel plates are arranged spaced apart, a lower plate being fixed in the water collection trough and an upper plate being fixed above the edge of the water collection trough. The edge of the upper plate projects beyond the edge of the water collection trough in such a way that, to form a closed flow in the drainage pipe. The water to be led away is accelerated ahead of the edge of the water collection trough and, after a two-fold deflection of about 90.degree. in each case, ahead of the opening in the bottom.

  • Patent number: 5702055
Abstract: In a vehicle heating appliance, a burner is supplied with combustion air by a combustion air fan and with fuel by a fuel dosing pump. The heat generated by the burner in a combustion chamber is absorbed by a liquid or gaseous heat transfer medium through a heat exchanger that surrounds the combustion chamber and is transferred to the areas to be heated. In order to avoid malfunctions of the fuel dosing pump caused by steam bubbles produced by overheating, the fuel dosing pump must be kept cool. To ensure an efficient cooling of the fuel dosing pump, the fuel dosing pump is mounted in a compact manner in a suction channel (8) of the combustion air fan (1). When the vehicle heating appliance is in operation, combustion air flows past the outer surface of the fuel dosing pump (14) and cools the pump before being led to the inlet side of the combustion air fan (1, 4).

  • Patent number: 5701906
Abstract: Method and apparatus for acquiring and processing electrocardiographic signals comprising the steps of detecting and recording a first basic electrocardiographic waveform of a subject tested under relaxed condition, i.e at rest, and a second electrocardiographic waveform of the same subject tested at the end of an induced stress, which method further comprises comparing the said basic waveform with the second waveform and detecting, from the thus operated comparison, the instant in which a change in the second waveform takes place, by evaluating the time elapsed from a preset initial instant. • Patent number: 5695180
Abstract: A device for conveying a front end of a material web, which is fed in a web-fed rotary press, especially a printing press. The device has a deflecting device for deflecting the web and a feed device for the deflected web, which is arranged at a distance from the deflecting device in the direction of feed of the deflected web. A guiding device, which guides a front end of the web around the deflecting device during the deflecting, is arranged adjacent to the deflecting device. Lying on a circulating conveyor belt, the deflected web front end is fed to the feed device.

  • Patent number: 5694861
Abstract: A desk with a working top, in which a window with approximately the area dimensions of a display monitor screen is recessed. The monitor housing can be supported in the area of the window by a holding structure provided with holding straps in a slightly inclined position in the direction of the front edge of the window. To simplify the holding structure, the holding straps are attached to suspension elements, which are located under the working top in front of the front edge and behind the rear edge of the window. The straps can be displaced and locked in a direction at right angles to the front and rear edges of the window, and the distance between the suspension elements and the holding straps attached to them is smaller than the width of the rear wall of the display screen housing to be accommodated by the holding straps.

  • Patent number: 5695327
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a dry-running screw compressor, in which the suction-side bearing housing and the pressure-side bearing housing are provided on the inside with journals for engaging holes in the rotors. The two rotors within the compressor housing include only the body of the ribbed rotor and grooved rotor, and the journals of the rotors, which are located on the outside for mounting, are eliminated. The rotors are mounted on the pressure-side journals by means of radial and thrust bearings which are secured by corrugated nuts. Only radial bearings are used on the suction-side journals. The sealing between the tooth spaces of the rotors is ensured by means of sealing disks. To maintain the distance between the rotor faces, gearwheels are inserted on the pressure side between the sealing housing and the bearing housing. The ribbed rotor is driven in this exemplary embodiment with a coupling half for the drive via a torsion shaft.
