  • Patent number: 5653252
Abstract: In a housing to be fastened to the bottom of a flushing tank, a float, which is arranged approximately centrally on a closing member mounted displaceably in the housing, is arranged under a partition extending horizontally in the flush tank. A sealing body is arranged at a lower end of the closing member. The partition forms a unit with a chamber arranged on its underside, and the unit is detachably inserted from the top into the housing, which is open at the top. The present invention simplifies the automatic mounting as well as the inspection of the drain valve and the more universal and therefore less expensive use of the valve housing.

  • Patent number: 5653226
Abstract: A device for generating oxygen by the thermal decomposition of a chemical contained in a cartridge housing, whose reaction takes place, beginning from an activation point, along a reaction front propagating in the interior of the cartridge housing in the direction of an unspent chemical, with a feed line with a restrictor, which feed line originates from the cartridge housing from the area of the unspent chemical in front of the reaction front, for drawing off the oxygen generated, shall be improved in terms of a more uniform release of the oxygen generated. To accomplish this task, a compensating line, which opens into the interior of the cartridge housing in the area of the spent chemical behind the reaction front, is connected to the cartridge housing.

  • Patent number: 5651324
Abstract: In a process and device for monitoring a residual amount of hook thread in a double thread lockstitch sewing machine, a bobbin is used, which is divided into a large clamber and a small chamber due to the arrangement of a middle flange, wherein the small chamber accommodates the residual amount of thread. An abrupt reduction in the speed of rotation of the bobbin, n.sub.S, takes place dating sewing at the time of the transition from the principal to the residual amount of thread as a consequence of the abrupt change in the thread pull-off site in the bobbin.

  • Patent number: 5650077
Abstract: A process and a device for the laser welding of plates (3, 4) located next to each other, which are held together with a movable clamping device (5). The feed path is measured during the closing of the clamping device (5), the thickness of the plate stack (3, 4) is calculated from this, and sent out. The welding energy is set according to the measured thickness of the plate stack. This can be achieved with an automatic control unit, which automatically sets the welding energy source (11). The welding head (2), designed as a laser focus, may be integrated within the clamping device (5) and may be fed together with same.

  • Patent number: 5647682
Abstract: The frame has at least two hollow bars extending at right angles to one another and at least one connector, which connects the two hollow bars to one another at a distance from one another. The connector has a locking body as well as an expanding means in which the locking body engages an undercut groove of one bar with a head part and a front-side hollow space of the other hollow bar with a foot end. The locking body has a clamp-shaped design. The expanding means has an eccentric bolt, which expands the two legs at right angles to their longitudinal direction between the two hollow bars, thereby detachably connecting a head end and a foot end of the locking body to the associated hollow bar by clamping.

  • Patent number: 5649189
Abstract: The method and system involves encoding each data value into a binary format and writing values in reverse order by first writing the value data portion, starting at its end, and proceeding towards its beginning and noting a starting index, upon starting the step of writing and noting an ending index upon ending the step of writing. Encoding includes using a stack wherein data values are pushed on the stack and read off the stack using a first in last out procedure. The start of a structured data type (set or sequence), namely the first byte of the value is encoded and/or written last and the end of a structured data type is the last byte and is encoded and/or written first. The length of the data portion is determined based on the starting and ending index. The length is then encoded to form part of the encoding.

  • Patent number: 5647291
Abstract: A catch thread device is provided for a sewing machine with a scanning element controlled by the upper thread in the rhythm of sewing. The scanning element triggers a signal for the operator and/or for switching off the drive of the sewing machine via an electronic control circuit in the case of a thread break. The catch thread device includes a support fastened to the housing in the sewing machine as well as a pivotable switching lever. The pivotable switching lever is pretensioned and mounted in the support and is connected to the scanning element extending into the course of the upper thread between an eye of the needle and a thread guide of a thread lever of the sewing machine. The scanning element is connected to a magnet which is arranged adjacent to a Hall IC (integrated circuit) fastened to the support wherein the Hall IC is connected via lines to the control circuit for evaluating the signals triggered by the magnet in the Hall IC during the movement of the switching element.

  • Patent number: 5648457
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a purification method for hydrophobic polypeptides by using high performance liquid chromatography, characterized by using a mixed solvent as a moving phase, in which the portion of trifluoroacetic acid is from 3 to 10% by volume, and polyvinyl alcohol-based column filler in the said high performance liquid chromatography. The method according to the present invention is useful as a purification method for hydrophobic polypeptides in view of the fact that the pulmonary surfactant, which is prepared from the hydrophobic polypeptide purified according to the method of the present invention, shows better surface active property than the hydrophobic polypeptides purified by customary methods for the purification.

  • Patent number: 5646939
Abstract: A token ring network performs address to port mapping by taking advantage of the abilities of the port switched modules and the neighbor notification process, in order to perform address to port mapping on each individual module. Ring monitors are switched from an upstream side of a port to a downstream side of a port when the neighbor notification process enters the port domain. The processor on the module records all the addresses received on the downstream side of the port, when the neighbor notification process is in the domain of that port. If it appears that the neighbor notification process is in the domain of two adjacent ports, the present invention only records addresses from the most downstream of the two adjacent ports, since such a situation is an indication that the upstream ports do not conform to MAC protocol.
