Abstract: A User Equipment (UE) has a circuit that performs the acquisition for the low chip rate option of the Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) Time Division Duplex (TDD) standard as formulated by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). The present invention implements the detection of the basic SYNC code; the determination of the midamble used and the detection of the superframe timing based on SYNC code modulation sequence. This enables reading of a full Broadcast Channel (BCH) message.
Abstract: An adjustable frame for dispensing stackable items. The adjustable frame includes a first panel having a first edge, a first-panel-dispensing-end, and a first major surface. The major surface is configured to guide stacked items prior to dispensing. A second panel has a second edge, a second-panel-dispensing-end, and a second major surface. The second major surface is configured to, in combination with the first major surface, guide stacked items prior to dispensing. An adjustable panel has a third edge and a third major surface. The third edge is detachably securable in one of a plurality of locations on the second major surface of the second panel. The adjustable panel can be positioned proximate to any one of the plurality of locations to accommodate items of various sizes.
Abstract: A control method for automatically adjusting a view angle of a rearview mirror or a CCD camera of a turning vehicle is disclosed. The method includes steps of receiving an output of a navigation system; determining a turning level of the vehicle according to the output of the navigation system; and triggering the rearview mirror or the CCD camera to move to an extent corresponding to the turning level of the vehicle. A control device for automatically adjusting a view angle of a rearview mirror or a CCD camera of a turning vehicle in response to the output of an electronic compass or a global positioning system (GPS) is also disclosed.

Abstract: A fiber optic assembly including an alignment plate having an M×N array of alignment holes formed thereon and an equal number of optical fibers, each bonded to a respective one of the alignment holes. A bondline, preferably an inorganic adhesive having a glass transition temperature of at least about 150° C., is located between each optical fiber and its respective alignment hole. The bondline is preferably less than about 200 nm in thickness. The inorganic adhesive is preferably formed from a colloidal suspension of sodium silicate.
Abstract: A connector with a signal detection device for plugging in a corresponding socket of an electronic device is provided, wherein the socket includes a central protruding conductor and an outer insulating portion and the outer insulating portion includes a first contacting flexible piece and a second contacting flexible piece. The connecter includes a first conducting portion for contacting with the central protruding conductor, a second conducting portion for contacting with the first contacting flexible piece of the outer insulating portion, and a third conducting portion for contacting with the second contacting flexible piece, wherein when the connector is plugged in the socket of the electronic device so as to contact the third conducting portion with the second contacting flexible piece, the third conducting portion outputs a detecting signal for being recognized, and the connector stands on the detecting signal to decide whether power is outputted to the electronic device or not.
Abstract: A direct digital synthesizer (DDS) for generating a waveform output according to a frequency input and a clock signal is provided. The direct digital synthesizer includes: a code generator for generating a digital code in response to the frequency input and the clock signal, a digital-analog converter (DAC) electrically connected with the code generator and comprising plural difference weighted coefficients for generating an analog waveform through an operation of the plural difference weighted coefficient and the digital code, and a filter electrically connected with the difference weighted digital-analog converter (DAC) for filtering the analog waveform to generate the waveform output. The provided direct digital synthesizer is able to generate all kinds of periodic waveforms with different phases without the conventional wave lookup ROM-table.
Abstract: A mobile communication device comprises a housing enclosing a circuit board that has components disposed thereon. The housing has opposite first and second surfaces. An antenna element is formed on the first surface of the housing for receiving and/or transmitting electromagnetic signals. An inner conductive layer is disposed on the second surface of the housing. The inner conductive layer is electrically connected to the antenna element and in signal communication with the circuit board.
Abstract: A multicellular communications system where transmission between a roving subscriber and multiple base station transceivers is maintained throughout the territory. Each mobile subscriber unit has global code seeds for the entire communications system or an updated neighbor list and continuously searches to access available cell base stations while maintaining a communication link with one base station. Candidate cell base stations are interrogated and communicated with. The candidate base station that requires less transmitting energy from the mobile subscriber unit is closely monitored. When the mobile subscriber unit can successfully communicate with less transmit power than currently required by the present base station, the mobile subscriber unit is handed off to the candidate base station transceiver.
Abstract: A process and an apparatus used to subdivide objects (4) into slices, in particular to manufacture wafers from semi-conducting monocrystalline blocks, wherein these blocks are subdivided into slices with the help of at least one cutting tool (3), and under the influence of an etchant. Prior to completely cutting and subdividing the object (4) (ingot) into individual slices (wafers), a separating foil (12) is introduced into each cut slit (9) to separate the slices. This efficiently prevents the resultant wafers from sticking together. The individual separation of the wafers is thus accomplished right when the cutting process takes place so that the necessary number of process steps to manufacture silicon wafers is reduced.

Abstract: A tool for inserting and extracting pins of roller chains, comprising a body having a pair of teeth designed to engage two chain links to be connected or separated by insertion or extraction of a pin. The tool comprises a screw member which can be operated manually and which is provided with a punch designed to co-operate with a pin that is to be inserted or extracted. The tool comprises two retaining elements which can move between an inoperative position, in which the chain links can freely engage and disengage the teeth, and an operative position, in which the teeth block the chain links in a pre-set position with respect to the teeth (26).
Abstract: A method is disclosed for receiving a transmitted signal in a communication system employing CDMA techniques wherein the transmitted signal includes a plurality of short codes, each of which is transmitted repetitively over a fixed period of time and where the received signal has CW interference in addition to the transmitted signal. The method includes detecting the presence of the short code in a plurality of time phases of the received signal by calculating a likelihood ratio for each phase. The likelihood ratio takes into account the current short code.

Abstract: A system for scanning human or machine readable information located on objects moving in a transport direction along a transport path. An imaging device having a first observation path and at least a 1×N sensor array is also provided. A scanning zone is located along the transport path. A rotating sweeping unit is positioned to receive light from the scanning zone and reflect it to the imaging device. The sweeping unit sweeps through the scanning zone along a sweep path. The imaging device captures a plurality of image segments that extend generally across the transport path and are each at least 1×N pixels in size. Movement of the sweeping unit is preferably synchronized to movement of the objects along the transport path.
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved telecommunication receiver for receiving wireless multi-path communication signals. A novel RAKE receiver and a time diverse integration system for the calculation of the relative power of received signal samples are provided. Preferably, the receiver is embodied in a UE or base station of a CDMA wireless telecommunication system, such as a 3GPP system.
Abstract: A code indexing system for a CDMA communication station that uses orthogonal variable spreading factor (OVSF) codes has a single number mapped to each code. The new code number itself not only provides the code signature, but it is also used for the OVSF code generation. In addition, the system provides easy and fast generation of the available code list without the help of look-up table. This capability improves the dynamic code assignment.
Abstract: An irrigator has a single irrigation arm adapted to move in reciprocal rotational motion. In a first setting, the irrigator sprays irrigating liquid at a first orientation with respect to the arm to move the arm in a first direction. In a second setting, the irrigator sprays irrigating liquid at a second orientation with respect to the arm to effect a reversal in the rotational direction of the arm. Alternating mechanisms are provided to alter the arm between the first and second settings.
Abstract: In one embodiment, a test tone is placed in an outbound path of a full-duplex transmission system. An echo cancellation capability is disabled, enabling an echo signal of the test tone to pass through the inbound path of the full-duplex transmission system, which echo signal is analyzed to determine the condition of the full-duplex paths. In another embodiment a standard DSP generates DTMF tones which are looped-back and tested by the DSP, under control of a CPU. The DSP is a standard DSP avoiding the need for any hardware/software modification of the DSP to perform the test mode. The tests are performed the local level, i.e. at the subscriber's location, eliminating the need for central office intervention, for example.
