Abstract: Apparatus and method for correlating a received communication of a known sequence over a wireless channel through the use of a finite impulse response (FIR) filter having a small number of taps to reduce hardware requirement by as much as one-half that of conventional techniques while obtaining amplitude degradation which is no worse than experienced when employing conventional techniques.

Abstract: A DC-to-AC power inverter includes an input port, an output port, a switching circuit, and a system controller. The switching circuit is electrically connected between the input port and the output port responsive to control signals to convert a DC voltage at the input port to an AC output voltage. The system controller senses the AC output voltage at the output port and transforms the AC output voltage to generate a first reference current signal. Furthermore, the system controller senses an output current at the output port to generate an output current signal. Moreover, the system controller senses a reference current signal by adding the first reference current signal to the output current signal. Finally, the system controller generates the control signals responsive to the reference current signal and a sensed inverter current signal by sensing an inverter current at the switching circuit. The related methods are also discussed.
Abstract: A code-division-multiple-access (CDMA) system employing spread-spectrum modulation. The CDMA system has a base station (BS), and a plurality of subscriber units. The signals transmitted between the base station and subscriber unit use spread-spectrum modulation. The improvement method for adaptive reverse power control (APC) from a subscriber unit (SU) to a base station (BS), comprises the steps of sending from the subscriber unit, using spread-spectrum modulation, a SU-spreading code on a reverse channel. The base station despreads the SU-spreading code on the reverse channel as a despread signal, determines a first power level Pd which includes power of the despread signal plus noise and a second power level PN, which includes despread-noise power.

Abstract: A process for the examination of biocompartments (1), having a micro-flow chamber (2) which contains a biocompartment (1) which is continually or intermittently subjected to the through-flow of a culture medium. In a culture medium zone proximal to the biocompartments (1), an electrical potential is applied in such a manner, that from a substance in the culture medium which is released or consumed by the biocompartments (1), OH− and/or H+ ions are formed. During the application of the potential, a first measurement (pH−1, pH−3) for the pH value of the culture medium is measured. The potential is then switched off or changed in such a manner that the formation of OH−0 and/or H+ ions from the said substance is stopped. Before or after the measuring of the first measured value, (pH−1, pH−3) with switched off electrical potential, a second measured value (pH−2, pH−4) is measured for the pH value of the culture medium.
Abstract: An implant for osteosyntheses including a plate with a plurality of holes following in succession in the longitudinal direction whereby at least most of the holes intended to receive the screws are offset in alternation generally away from a center plane whereby a center axis of each of the holes forms an acute angle with the center plane of the plate.

Abstract: A system for receiving and analyzing at least one inband user data packet within a CATV video signal. The system includes a data detector, a data processor and a memory. The data detector receives video signal samples of the data packet. The data detector includes a data slicer used to determine a threshold level based on a clock sync byte located in the data packet. The threshold level is compared to subsequent video signal samples of the data packet. The data processor determines the destination of the data packet. The memory selectively stores the data packet until it is required by the data processor.

Abstract: A digital camera includes an outer casing cover. An open portion is formed in the outer casing cover, and an LCD unit is mounted to the open portion such that the display surface of the LCD unit is exposed to the outside through the open portion. The LCD unit includes a plate-like LCD module of a package type and a mounting frame having the LCD mounted thereto. The mounting frame is formed of a thin member such as a thin metal plate, and the holding frame for housing and holding the display element includes a display frame covering the peripheral portion of the display surface. The display surface and the display frame are exposed to the outside through the open portion of the outer casing member.
Abstract: A scanning system utilizes a randomly addressable image sensor which is selectively positioned at the Scheimpflug angle in the image plane in order to detect focused light reflected from an object. Light reflected from the object is focused onto the sensor through an objective lens. Since the sensor is mounted at the Scheimpflug angle, each strip within the depth of field of the object plane has corresponding pixels on the sensor which are in focus.

Abstract: A Node-B/base station receiver comprises at least one antenna for receiving signals. Each finger of a pool of reconfigurable Rake fingers recovers a multipath component of a user and is assigned a code of the user, a code phase of the multipath component and an antenna of the at least one antenna. An antenna/Rake finger pool interface provides each finger of the Rake pool an output of the antenna assigned to that Rake finger. A combiner combines the recovered multipath components for a user to produce data of the user.

Abstract: A subscriber station for a CDMA cellular system that utilizes transmission diversity by transmitting a plurality of PN spread spectrum signals. Data is transmitted as PN spread spectrum modulated data signals where at least a first PN spread spectrum modulated data signal is formed by spreading and modulating the data with a first PN code and a second PN spread spectrum modulated data signal is formed by spreading and modulating the data with a second PN code which is different than the first PN code. The subscriber station has a receiver which receives the first and second PN spread spectrum modulated data signals. A despreader and demodulator despreads and demodulates the received PN spread spectrum modulated data signal using the respective PN codes. A combiner reconstructs the data from the despread and demodulated data signals.
Abstract: A graphic interface device produces a video signal for a display such that the user may select between landscape and portrait image display modes. The graphic interface device has a pixel data memory array from which a video output signal is derived. A primary graphics engine renders graphics in a landscape orientation in conjunction with a frame buffer. The primary landscape graphics engine stores rendered graphics to the pixel data memory array and also copies selected graphics in data blocks within the frame buffer called surfaces. In order to provide other display modes to display images in different physical orientations, a mode control is provided in conjunction with a rotated pixel data array buffer to facilitate the rendering of portrait oriented graphics by the primary landscape graphics engine. In addition, to facilitate the efficiency and speed of rendering portrait oriented graphics, a secondary portrait graphics engine is provided.
Abstract: This application is about a method for removing the deep trench Si-needles on a wafer. The method includes steps of forming a photoresist layer on a frontside surface of the wafer, removing a specific area of the photoresist layer for exposing the Si-needles, proceeding a first etching and a second etching, and finally removing the photoresist layer on the frontside surface of the wafer. The first etching is a wet etching for removing the Si-needles by an etching solution etching from a backside surface of the wafer back to the frontside surface of the wafer. And, the second etching is a dry etching for removing the residual silicon nitride (SiN) slices formed during the first etching.

Abstract: This invention is an electronic display of paintball marker function located on or close to a rear-facing portion of the body of the paintball marker. By paintball marker function is meant mode of operation (e.g., semi- or full-automatic), rate of fire, shot counter, pressure supply, and pressure chambers settings. Also, optionally, a game timer, low battery and on-off indicators may also be displayed. Abstract: A polishing tool used for a CMP process is disclosed. The polishing tool includes a polishing platen for holding a wafer faced-up thereon and carrying the wafer to move to and fro between a first position and a second position, a polishing pad for polishing the wafer, and a holder for holding the polishing pad to self-rotate and carrying the polishing pad to move across the wafer surface and further driving the polishing pad to polish the wafer.

The charge pump circuit includes a plurality of voltage-boosting stages connected in series with each other and having a supply terminal, a control terminal, and an output terminal respectively, and a plurality of voltage multipliers, each multiplier having an input terminal, a first output terminal for outputting a first clock signal, and a second output terminal for outputting a second clock signal respectively, wherein the input terminal of a first voltage multiplier is coupled to a clock signal, a magnitude of the first clock signal is a multiple of a magnitude of the second clock signal, each of the voltage multipliers is coupled the respective second output terminal thereof to the input terminal of a downstream voltage multiplier, and the first output terminal of the voltage multiplier is coupled to the control terminal of a respective one of the voltage-boosting stages.
Abstract: A plug-in connector has an insulating body which holds electrical contacts, for example contact pins or contact tubes, in bores which extend in the axial direction. On its outside, the insulating body has a groove which opens outwardly and which intersects the holes or bores for the contacts over part of their radial extension. A retaining ring fits into the groove and in the working position, simultaneously engages in groove-like recesses provided on the contacts, thereby fixing the contacts in an axial direction. The retaining ring can also support at least one retaining tongue protruding preferably radially inwardly in the plane of the retaining ring. The retaining tongue extends into the area of a further bore for a middle contact through a channel or opening in the insulating body and in the working position, engages in the recess thereof so that this middle contact is also axially fixed.
