Abstract: An image processing apparatus has a distortion correction processing unit. The image processing apparatus has a distortion correcting range calculating unit that calculates an input image range necessary for distortion correction processing of the distortion correction processing unit. Thus, the corrected image (output image) obtained by the distortion correction processing can be outputted without overs and shorts for the image output range. The distortion is corrected by effectively using input (picked-up) image data, serving as the original data. Further, the distortion including the pincushion distortion, the barrel distortion, and the curvilinear distortion is effectively corrected.

The method for manufacturing the nitride based single crystal substrate includes forming a ZnO layer on a base substrate; forming a low-temperature nitride buffer layer on the ZnO layer using dimethyl hydragine (DMHy) as an N source; growing a nitride single crystal on the low-temperature nitride buffer layer; and separating the nitride single crystal from the base substrate by chemically eliminating the ZnO layer.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for performing a power efficient cell search in a multi-cell wireless communication system are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) having a memory that stores a cell identification list of prioritized previously top-ranked cell identities (IDs) is used to perform the cell search. A primary synchronization code (PSC) correlation peak location on a received signal is selected. A common pilot channel (CPICH) correlation value is determined by non-coherent integration of a local signal created based on a first cell ID on the cell identification list to the received signal. If the CPICH correlation value is greater than a noise threshold, thus indicating that the first cell ID is a newly found cell ID, or if a last cell ID in the cell identification list is reached, an additional determination is made as to whether there is more than one cell ID on the list having the same timing.

Abstract: A papermaking fabric is treated by applying a nanoparticle type coating to improve their resistance to contamination by foreign matter in the papermaking system. The coating is applied during fabric manufacture and cured during heat setting. Alternatively, the coating applied or renewed by utilizing an existing shower or locating a spray boom or other suitable coating application device in the dryer section to apply the coating to the fabric in a controlled, uniform manner. Prior to application of the coating, the fabric is first thoroughly cleaned such as by showering or spraying, and then dried. Following controlled application of the coating, any excess material is removed by a suitable means, such as by vacuum, and the remaining coating on the fabric is then cured, either by utilizing the ambient heat of the dryer section or by a portable bank of heaters. In this manner, the fabric does not have to be removed from the machine in order to apply or renew the contaminant resistant coating.

Abstract: A wireless communication method and apparatus for controlling the power of signals transmitted by downlink (DL) and/or uplink (UL) coded composite transport channels (CCTrCHs). A base station transmits signals to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) via at least one DL CCTrCH, and/or the WTRU transmits signals to the base station via at least one UL CCTrCH. The base station determines whether or not discontinuous transmission (DTX) of a UL CCTrCH that controls the power of a DL CCTrCH is employed, and/or the WTRU determines whether or not DTX of a DL CCTrCH that controls the power of a UL CCTrCH is employed. The power of the CCTrCHs is incremented or decremented by a first step size when DTX is employed, and by a second step size when DTX is not employed.
Abstract: Provided is a storage system superior in fault tolerance. This storage system is composed of a controller having a plurality of processors and other units. When an error occurs in any one of the components in the controller, the storage system cuts off an I/O path of the controller, specifies the failed component in the cutoff status, and invalidates such failed component. Further, after invalidating the failed component, the storage system determines whether it is operable only with the normal components, cancels (releases) the cutoff of the I/O path when it determines that it is operable, and resumes operation by rebooting itself.
Abstract: One or more switches are interposed between a controller portion and a storage device. When transmission of a command to a certain storage device fails, a command is transmitted starting from an upstream side to a downstream side of a path between the controller portion and the switch to which the certain storage device is connected, and when command transmission fails while transmitting a command from a kth switch (k is an integer of 0 or more) which is connected to a (k+1)th switch and is one level upstream of the (k+1)th switch or from any port of the controller portion, it is determined that a failure has occurred in a power source that supplies power to the (k+1)th switch.

Abstract: A wireless communication method and system for performing bit-interleaved coded modulation and iterative decoding. The system includes a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter encodes incoming bits to generate coded bits, punctures the coded bits in accordance with a predetermined puncturing pattern to generate surviving channel bits and stolen bits and interleaves the surviving bits into interleaved surviving bits. The interleaved surviving bits are mapped to channel symbols and the stolen bits are interleaved to generate interleaved stolen bits. At least one of a plurality of antennas is selected to transmit the channel symbols based on the value of the interleaved stolen bits. The receiver receives the transmitted channel symbols, estimates a posteriori probability for both the channel symbols and the stolen bits, and retrieves information of the stolen bits by determining the selected antenna used to transmit the channel symbols.

Abstract: A wireless communication system and method for controlling transmission power to maintain a received signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) as close as possible to a target SIR. A received quality is maintained as close as possible to a target quality based on block error rate (BLER). When a target BLER is converted to an initial target SIR, an error may occur due to a channel condition mismatch, since the target SIR required for the target BLER varies with channel conditions. An outer loop power control process is used to set a target SIR for each coded composite transport channel (CCTrCH) based on the required target BLER. The process adjusts a SIR step size parameter to maximize the convergence speed of the process.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for admission control and resource tracking in a wireless communication system are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a base station maintain parameters for admission control including parameters for the amount of time available for admission of traffic of each access category and for the amount of time available for admission of all access categories and parameters for admitted time and used time for the WTRU. Upon receipt of an admission request for a traffic stream from the WTRU, the base station determines whether to accept or deny the request based on the medium time for the requested traffic stream and the available time for the access category and total available time. The base station tracks the actually transmitted time by the WTRU, reclaims the unused time and returns the reclaimed time to either a common pool or to the WTRU as needed.
