Abstract: In a disk array apparatus, by taking note of a first sound of a specific frequency which is a noise element of original sounds generated from a fan, a second sound whose phase is inverted to that of the first sound is generated by a structure of a cooling air flow path passing through the fan, and the second sound is synthesized with the first sound on the cooling air flow path, thereby reducing the noise. For example, an exhaust duct is located on a fan unit in an upper part of the apparatus, two flow paths extending to an exhaust port are formed in an internal structure of the exhaust duct, and the two flow paths are designed so that the difference in the flow path length therebetween becomes equivalent to half wavelength of the specific frequency.

Abstract: A inventive flow-meter uses a measuring method which is based on the passage time of fluid molecules in a single sensor, without using any magnetic field gradient for the measurement of said fluid mean velocity. This method consists of the ultrafast irradiation of hydrogen nuclei from fluid molecules through pulses which are repeated every short time intervals, following a Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (CPMG) type sequence.

Abstract: A method for management of real-time system algorithms to achieve optimal efficiency which provides for dynamically managing priorities in a complex real-time system, considering the dynamic requirements of the system. A preferred embodiment describes the management of a plurality of RRM algorithms, including algorithms for SCC escape, LM escape, SCC rate control, and F-DCA background. More specifically, one exemplary embodiment assists in deciding: when to increase algorithm priorities, how to increase/decrease algorithm priorities, how to assign priority parameters, and how to dynamically manage priorities in the system, to result in optimal system efficiency.
Abstract: An apparatus and method for DFT processing using prime factor algorithm (PFA) on a selected number P of midamble chip values received by a CDMA receiver, where P has a plurality M of relatively prime factors F, and the DFT process is divided into M successive F-point DFT processes. The P data values are retrieved from a single input port memory and selectively permuted by a controller into parallel caches to optimize factoring with associated twiddle factors stored in parallel registers. The permuted inputs are factored in two or more parallel PFA circuits that comprise adders and multipliers arranged to accommodate any size F-point DFT. The outputs of the PFA circuits are processed by consolidation circuitry in preparation for output permutation of the values which are sent to memory for subsequent DFT cycles.

Abstract: Two or more media drives that cannot be detached by the user are pre-installed in an enclosure. An expansion slot member having the smaller number of expansion drive slots than the number of media drives that can be pre-installed are provided. The media drives that are installed via the expansion drive slots are installed so as to be detached by the user.
Abstract: A camshaft adjuster (1) for an internal combustion engine is provided, wherein the relative angle between a drive wheel (2) and an inner rotor associated with a camshaft can be adjusted via hydraulic loading of pressure spaces (9, 10) between an outer rotor (3) and the inner rotor (6), wherein the drive wheel (2) is made of plastic and the outer rotor (3) associated with the drive wheel (2) is made of metal. Particularly good linkage can be obtained and mounting complexity can be reduced by having at least one bearing surface between the outer rotor (3) and the inner rotor (6) that is connected with a firmly bonded material or positive fit in the drive wheel that is made from plastic.
Abstract: An image management apparatus storing an input primary image and a replay-use reduced image corresponding to the input image comprises a first storage medium; a first database makeup unit for making up first database information for identifying a group to which the reduced image belongs when recording the primary image in the first storage medium; a second recording medium; a duplication unit for duplicating first database information and a reduced image recorded in the second recording medium into the first recording medium when the remainder capacity of, or the number of recorded files in, the second recording medium meets a predetermined condition; and a second database makeup unit for deleting first database information and a reduced image which are duplicated into the first recording medium from the second recording medium and also making up second database information for identifying the duplicated first database information in the second recording medium.
Abstract: A hybrid orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) system including a transmitter and a receiver is disclosed. The transmitter includes a first spread OFDMA subassembly, a first non-spread OFDMA subassembly and a first common subassembly. The first spread OFDMA subassembly spreads input data and maps the spread data to a first group of subcarriers. The first non-spread OFDMA subassembly maps input data to a second group of subcarriers. The first common subassembly transmits the input data mapped to the first and second group of subcarriers using OFDMA. The receiver includes a second spread OFDMA subassembly, a second non-spread OFDMA subassembly and a second common subassembly. The second common subassembly processes received data to recover data mapped to the subcarriers using OFDMA. The second spread OFDMA subassembly recovers the first input data by separating user data in a code domain and the second non-spread OFDMA subassembly recovers the second input data.

Abstract: A self-regulating valve assembly for a compressed gas gun includes a valve housing and a valve body disposed within the valve housing. The rearward end of the valve body defined an outlet port. The forward end of the valve body defines a gas balance reservoir open to and in communication with the breech of the gun. A valve gas passage is provided between the valve body and the valve housing, the valve gas passage providing communication between the outlet port of the valve body and the gas balance reservoir of the valve body. A slidable valve poppet is disposed within the valve body and includes a sensing end adjacent to and at least partially within the gas balance reservoir, the sensing end having a sensing face adapted to react to gas pressure within the gas balance reservoir. The valve poppet is slidable between a closed position and an open position. A valve spring within the valve body biases the valve poppet toward the closed position.

Abstract: A method for delivering a short message service (SMS) message to an interworking wireless local area network user equipment (UE) begins by registering the UE with an Internet Protocol short message gateway (IP-SM-GW). A capability report is sent from the UE to the IP-SM-GW, the capability report including the capabilities of the UE. A SMS message is transmitted from a short message service center (SMSC) to the IP-SM-GW. The capabilities of the UE are evaluated at the IP-SM-GW to determine whether the UE can receive the SMS message, and the SMS message is delivered to the UE via the IP-SM-GW if the UE has the capabilities to receive the SMS message.
Abstract: A storage system includes a primary volume and a first controller that stores data in a primary volume and stores content at a prescribed point in time in the form of differential data. The first controller generates generational management information corresponding to the differential data of the prescribed point in time and manages the generational management information. The storage system also includes a secondary volume configured to store backup data and a second controller configured to receive data sent from the first controller, store data to the secondary volume, store the generational management information, receive a request for a certain generation of the generations and provide data of the primary volume corresponding to the requested generation based on the request. The first controller determines to send differential data and the generational management information to the second controller when an amount of differential data reaches a prescribed amount.
