  • Patent number: 5964486
Abstract: A pipe connector comprising a tubular pin member (1) having an outer generally frusto-conical surface and a tubular box member (2) having an inner surface corresponding to the surface of the pin member which overlies the surface of the pin member when the members are fully engaged. The central portions (3a,4a) of the frusto-conical surfaces are provided with complementary inter-engaging formations (5,6) and end portions (3b,3c,4b,4c), which are generally spaced apart, have abutting annular rings (20,21) to transfer hoop stresses caused by a pressure difference across the walls of the connector. Following wear of the connector (1,2) the rib also serves to reduce the material removed from the or each member when it is re-cut.

  • Patent number: 5966299
Abstract: A boost and buck chopper type potential source excitation system for a synchronous type electric power generator which is capable of having an operational characteristic which is better than that of a conventional voltage source excitation system with respect to a rated input voltage and forcing an excitation field by boosting an excitation input voltage using a boost chopper when an excitation input voltage is decreased due to a failure in a cable. The system includes a boost chopper for receiving an output voltage from the buck transformer, converting the thusly received voltage into a direct current voltage, adjusting a level of the same, outputting the same to the thyristor as an excitation voltage, boosting the direct current voltage when the output voltage from the electric power generator is decreased, and outputting the thusly boosted voltage to the thyristor.

  • Patent number: 5958608
Abstract: A friction system moistened by a lubricating oil comprising a pair of friction bodies movable relative to each other along a friction surface. At least one of the friction bodies contains a friction lining having a heat capacity ratio and a heat conductivity ratio which diminish perpendicularly away from the friction surface such that boundary friction and thermal elimination of the lubricating oil ensue at individual friction points of the friction surface, thereby disposing the seizing tendency of the friction bodies and obtaining constant coefficients of friction and low rates of wear.

  • Patent number: 5954374
Abstract: A pipe connector includes a tubular pin member having a generally frusto-conical outer peripheral surface and a tubular box member having a generally frusto-conical inner peripheral surface corresponding to the frusto-conical outer peripheral surface of the pin member and overlies the frusto-conical surface of the pin member when the members are fully engaged together. The members include with inter-engageable annular projections and grooves on the said peripheral surfaces for axially locking the members together when they are fully engaged together, the projections and grooves being spaced apart along the surfaces. Means are provided for supplying hydraulic fluid under pressure between the overlying parts of the surfaces of the members when fully engaged together to expand the box member and/or contract the pin member to bring the projections out of engagement with the corresponding grooves and permit the members to be disengaged.

  • Patent number: 5952903
Abstract: A push button residual current device employs a single push button to perform setting and testing operations. Over a first part of the down stroke of the push button a test trip is initiated which causes the device to trip if it is properly functioning. When the push button is pushed further, and then released, the device goes into a state allowing current to pass provided no trip condition is detected. Once the device is operative for allowing current to pass, any fault condition results in a trip for disconnecting the power supply.

  • Patent number: 5947015
Abstract: A massage plant for the processing of chunks of meat includes a container (22) which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis and includes axially or substantially axially extending interior conveyors (16), each made as a hollow profile containing internal channels. Each conveyor is preferably produced by securing a sheet by means of embossments (e.g., temp-plates or vortex plates), in such a manner that a space is generated between the sheet and the hollow profile which has a connection (42,46) for a fluid for regulating the temperature of the load of meat and brine in the container. The axial orientation of the conveyors makes the entire interior of the container easy to survey. The construction of the conveyors is furthermore comparatively simple, and in the event of a leakage, the valuable meat contained in the container is not contaminated by the fluid, since the spilled matter runs within the hollow profile where it is possible to detect any spillage.
