Abstract: A water-borne autodepositing coating composition that has a pH of 1.6 to 5 and contains as essential components a water-dispersible or water-soluble organic coating-forming resin, a liquid dispersion of carbon black, acid, and oxidizing agent, and that may contain metal ions as an optional component, has an excellent storage stability and produces a strongly adherent and highly corrosion-resistant coating when the liquid dispersion of carbon black is an aqueous dispersion in which carbon black is dispersed using as a dispersant a naphthalenesulfonate-formaldehyde condensate.
Abstract: Self-dispersing curable epoxy resin ester dispersions prepared by a process comprising reacting a self-dispersing curable epoxy resin based on a polyoxyalkyleneamine with a fatty acid selected from the group consisting of drying oil and semi-drying oil fatty acids, are provided. The self-dispersing curable epoxy resin is based on a polyoxyalkyleneamine. Thus, a polyoxyalkyleneamine was present as a chemical precursor of the epoxy resin or a starting material therefor. The self-dispersing curable epoxy resin ester of the invention is in the form of an aqueous dispersion. When dried, films of the self-dispersing curable epoxy resin ester dispersion are useful as a coating composition.

Abstract: A reinforced structural member has a w-shaped reinforcement member that carries a thermally expandable resin-based material. The w-shaped reinforcement member is placed in the channel of a hollow structural member over a transverse pin which fits through the slot of the reinforcement member. The structural member is heated to expand the resin-based material which locks the reinforcement member in place, thereby significantly strengthening the structural member.

Abstract: Plastisol compositions based on vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymers produced by suspension polymerization have a low viscosity, even with low polymer-to-plasticizer ratios, so that they may be used for plastisol formulations suitable for airless spraying. The compositions are stable in storage and show good gelation properties. Coatings based on these plastisols have a good noise-damping effect, even with high vinyl acetate contents.
Abstract: Described is the use of ecologically compatible, and more particularly of biologically degradable, oils having flash points of above 80.degree. C. for washing mineral oil-loaded drill cuttings prior to the disposal thereof by off-shore and/or on-shore deposition. For the use as wash oils there are preferred aerobically and/or anaerobically degradable low-viscosity oils are employed which are also suitable for being used as a mixture component of the continuous oil phase of W/O invert drilling fluids.
