Abstract: Compositions of matter comprising castor-based benzoate esters, including benzoate esters of castor oil, benzoate esters of hydrogenated castor oil, benzoate esters of cetyl ricinoleate, and benzoate esters of octyl hydroxy stearate. The benzoate esters of ricinoleic acid and hydroxy stearic acid are double esters having a fatty acid group at the respective --COOH group and a benzoate group at the --OH group. The benzoate esters are useful as vehicles or carriers, emollients or solubilizers for toiletry, cosmetic, hair and skin care formulations.
Abstract: A hand held torque wrench with augmenting means is provided which includes a linkage assembly to join a drive input with an output wrench socket. The linkage assembly consists of a drive link extending from the input socket and coacting with a conversion link extending to a ratchet disposed about the output socket of the device. Rotation of the drive link pivots the conversion link to transfer torque from the input to the output socket. A pawl on the driven link is provided to coact with a ratchet which encircles the output socket. A guide means is disposed in the interior of the housing of the device to coact with the linkage assembly to maintain proper alignment during a torque operation, such that stress and force are substantially reduced or dissipated, if not eliminated, during the operation.
Abstract: The present invention provides for a sign consisting of an alloy substrate encapsulated in a porcelain coating which can be selectively applied to different areas of the substrate. The coating provides a smooth transitional region on graphic indicia of the sign to make the sign impervious to vandalism, fire and dirt. There is also provided a process of selectively applying a second coat of porcelain to the existing coating to only those elevated portions elevated or Braille portions of the substrate.
Abstract: An inlet manifold system particularly adapted for a V-8 to a V-16 type internal combustion engine includes a plenum adapted to coact between supply runners and demand runners by adjusting its configuration to achieve maximum engine performance at both the high end and low end operation of the engine. The plenum is adapted for slidable movement between the open and close positions to improve communication between the supply and demand runners. In one embodiment, a slide valve is disposed in the plenum outwardly of the supply and demand runners and includes a plurality of arcuate sections joined by flat sections and vanes which overlap the spacing between pairs of adjoining supply and demand runners. The slide valve is controlled to move into a closed position to isolate the adjacent pairs of supply and demand runners and segment the plenum into separate sections each of which has a supply and demand runner having equal area openings. The slide valve can be automatically controlled responsive to the engine RPM.
Abstract: A grid-type microwave antenna, easy to manufacture, assemble and disassemble, is formed of a number of spaced reflector rods which, when mounted in a frame, form a parabolic reflecting surface. The frame includes U-shaped channels for mounting and supporting the spaced reflector rods. Each of the rods has a curvature so that the combination of the rods spanning the frame forms a parabolic reflector. The frame is formed by channels having holes to receive the central and the end portions of the reflector rods. Insulating sleeves are provided for the central portion of each rod. Insulating cups are used for the end portions of each rod.

Abstract: An energy dissipating assembly for flowing water is provided which consists of a plurality of modules, each one of the modules being a buoyant body consisting of a continuous envelope defining a hollow watertight chamber, the envelope having a plurality of intersecting planar surfaces and an attaching members connected to at least two spaced locations on the continuous envelope to attach the buoyant body in a three dimensional relationship. Parts are also provided to adjust the buoyancy and mass of the buoyant body so that the assembly can be tuned for the wave activity of the water in which the system is disposed. A method of disrupting the wave action is also provided.
Abstract: A hand tool with a pivotal head portion includes a first manually rotatable collar which causes movement of a second slidable collar along a handle of the tool to secure the head portion at a desired angle with respect to the handle. Serrations on the tool head and slidable collar releasably engage each other to lock the head at the desired angle. The tool head is mounted on the handle using either ball and socket or tongue and groove configurations.
Abstract: A system for applying an adhesive is provided which includes a flexible tote elevated above an underlying surface to provide a gravity head for feeding the adhesive to a spray gun for admixture with compressed air so that the adhesive can be applied in a predetermined pattern.
Abstract: The present invention is a toothbrush which consists of a handle constructed and arranged to receive thereto a removably mountable brushing head. The brushing head is provided with a base having a plurality of bosses which coact with the handle to removably mount the brushing head to the handle for replacement and repair. The handle is formed with an aperture extending therethrough and in registration with the brushing head. A region of the brushing head is in registration with the aperture such that the region is accessible at the aperture for being depressed to release the brushing head from the handle.
Abstract: A conveyor apparatus is provided which includes a pair of conveyor belts constructed from a resilient material and arranged to securely grip and release the neck ring of bottles to be conveyed. Each one of the conveyor belts is formed with a groove having coacting opposed sides. The opposed sides part to open the groove to facilitate and expedite receiving the bottle neck ring in the grooves of the conveyor belts. The opposed sides of the groove then coact to close the groove and securely grip the neck ring therebetween to transport the bottle. At the discharge area of the conveyor line, the opposed sides once again flex away from the groove to facilitate and expedite the discharge of the bottle from the groove of the conveyor belts. Also provided is an adjustable block to support the conveyor belts, which block is constructed with at least one (1) port arranged to direct the flow of gas along the conveyor belt and into the conveying path.
Abstract: A pet carrier is provided which is adapted for use with tandem wheeled vehicles such as bicycles and motorcycles and has an open box like construction with a connecting means located in the back wall for securing a fastening device to a harness on the pet. The pet carrier includes structure to enable quick, easy and secure attachment and detachment from the associated vehicle. The connecting means in the back of the pet carrier enables the pet to be secured in comfort while being carried and transported.
