At the ends of this body (5) there are latching means (7, 8) which are releasably fastenable to the ends of the spring (2). The latching means comprise a pin (7) biased to thrust out through the wall of the body (5) and into holes at the ends of the spring (2) wound round the body (5). Both pins (7) are simultaneously releasable with the aid of a linkage system (11, 13, 14, 15) on actuating the system. Eyes or cages (8) accommodating the ends of the springs are also associated with the pins (7).
Abstract: The present invention concerns a gripping device provided with gripping claws (16) at one end of a tube (3), and at the other end of the tube (3), an operating handle (1). This handle (1) includes a trigger key (5) which is pivotable in the handle. During this pressing the key actuates a push rod (6), one end of which being pivotably mounted in the trigger key (5) and the other end of which being displaceably arranged in the upper portion of the operating handle (1).

Abstract: The device of the invention for exercising the leg and arm musculature of a person lying in a bed consists of a bellows (2) which with one of its ends is adapted to be attached to for instance a bedstead end in a manner by which it is tiltable about a horizontal axis and lockable in a desired position of tilt and which at the other end thereof carries a foot or hand attachment member (3) to which the foot or hand may be attached to permit the person lying in the bed to both compress and extend the bellows. The resistance of the bellows to the said movements are controllable as desired by means of a valving device (11).
Abstract: A rotatable cylindrical extension member, and cutting tool incorporating such extension member, provided with a coolant inlet, for alignment with a ring bore, extending inwardly from the peripheral surface of the extension member for directing coolant towards the axis of the extension member when it is coupled to the cutting tool and rotated while coolant is being supplied to the inlet from the ring bore.
Abstract: A drinking valve (40) for supplying animals with water. This valve has an actuating member (46) accessible to the animal which when actuated opens a flow path for the liquid through the drinking valve (40). In the non-actuated position the flow path through the drinking valve (40) is completely closed and in the position of maximum actuation the flow path is strongly restricted or completely closed. In the intermediary position the drinking valve (40) yields the amount of water which the flow path is intended to produce. The actuating member (46) is connected to main closing valve (47, 49) which in turn actuates a secondary restricting or closing valve (53, 54).
Abstract: Apparatus for separating cutlery from restaurant waste. A hopper (1) forms a chute and is adapted to be placed above the opening of a waste container. In the hopper there is a sloping surface (2) on which the waste is tipped, there being an opening (3) at the lower portion of the surface. A flap (16) arranged in the hopper is pivotable between two positions, namely a first position (18) for closing off the opening (3) and a second position (19) for uncovering the opening. An electrical switching signal from an inductive type probe (4) controls a drive member (17) for pivoting the flap between the first and second positions. The probe (4) is placed on the underside of the sloping surface (2).

Abstract: NO.sub.x abatement results with EGR obtained in practice have been drastically less than those predicted by kinetic calculations. This disparity can be eliminated in all heterogeneous combustion processes by complete mixing to the microscale of exhaust gas recirculation with intake air prior to introduction into the heterogeneous burner. To achieve the required mixedness the air and EGR must be folded together in a controlled fashion in a turbulent flow having mean flow streamlines structured so that turbulent diffusion and molecular diffusion need only act to mix at relatively small distances. Scaleable vortex mixing means to achieve this folding together and mixing are disclosed. Complete vortex mixing of air and EGR prior to the supply of this "oxidizer mix" into heterogeneous combustion systems such as diesel engines, stationary turbines, large burners, and power plants produces radical NO.sub.x reductions at low cost.
