  • Patent number: 4832844
Abstract: Leakage under pressure of fluid through the interface of a filter and a filter head or cover casting during removal of the filter is avoided by the use of a stepped gasket at the interface of the filter and the cover casting. The stepped gasket has both axially facing and radially facing sealing surfaces with the latter serving to maintain a seal at the interface over an extended interval during the removal process, which interval is sufficient to enlarge the volume of the system to eliminate any pressure differential from the interior of the system to the ambient.

  • Patent number: 4832422
Abstract: An improvement in a drawer of the type having a bottom wall and a peripheral wall structure extending upwardly from the bottom wall and defining in conjunction therewith a storage space. The peripheral wall structure has a front wall, a rear wall and first and second laterally spaced side walls, each extending between the front and rear walls. The improvement resides in each of the side walls being a single piece and having an integrally formed guide slot for cooperation with spaced elements on a cabinet with which the drawers are associated. The spaced elements move in the slots and support and guide sliding movement of the drawer. In a preferred form, each of the guide slots has a laterally opening, U-shape in cross section and the guide slots on each drawer open laterally away from each other. Preferably, the drawer is used in combination with a cabinet bounding a storage space and having an opening in its front wall to permit selective movement of the drawer into and out of the space.

  • Patent number: 4831897
Abstract: Unequal loading in multiple load path transmissions having independent gear trains 18, 20, interconnecting an input and an output shaft 12 and 14, respectively, is avoided through the use of a torsionally compliant gear 22 located in each gear train 18 and 20. Each torsionally compliant gear 22 includes a hub 40 and a ring 46 having external gear teeth 48 about the hub 40 in concentric spaced relation. A body 50 of elastomeric material is disposed between the hub 40 and the ring 46 and spring fingers 68 carried by the ring 46 at least somewhat radially extend toward the hub 40. Stops 84 are carried by the hub 40 and are positioned to be normally spaced from the spring fingers 68 when low loads are transmitted by the gear and to engage the spring fingers 68 when predetermined higher loads are to be transmitted by the gear.

  • Patent number: 4831679
Abstract: The invention relates to a wiper arm assembly for motor vehicles, comprising an oscillating mounting head (1), a rod (2) rigidly secured to the mounting head (1), a slidable element (3) pivotally (12) secured to a channel (4) and arm extension (7) and capable of sliding on said rod (2). Inside the channel (4) spring means are provided which are capable of biasing the arm extension (7) towards the surface to be wiped. A stationary bar (8) is rigidly attached to the vehicle body and a movable bar (9) is pivotally secured (10) to the stationary bar (8) at one of its ends and pivotally secured (11) to the slidable element (3) at the other of its ends. When the mounting head (1) and said rod (2) are oscillating the movable bar (9) oscillates too and imparts a back and forth movement to the slidable element (3), to the channel (4) and to the arm extension ( 7). A radial movement is thus superimposed on the oscillating movement.

  • Patent number: 4828112
Abstract: A metal transport pan having front, rear and end side walls extending downwardly with a slight inward taper and which are joined at curved corners, the lower parts of which have a similar taper and a top flange extending outwardly from the top of the side walls. Each of the curved corners has a nontapered section extending downwardly from the top flange generally at a right angle thereto to provide an outwardly protruding ridge whereby the spaced-apart ridges define a plurality of nesting surfaces for engagement with the top flange of a subjacent pan to limit the extent to which one pan may nest into the other and prevent contact between the side walls of the nested pans to maintain the stacked pans in nonjamming relation. The nontapered sections of the curved corners are formed at the same time as a conventional pan-forming draw is being performed in order to avoid any additional manufacturing steps.
