Abstract: The invention pertains to electrical machines of the electromagnetic type employing a stator and a rotatable rotor such as electric motors and generators wherein magnetic forces imposed upon the rotor produce rotor rotation. The invention utilizes permanent magnets in either the stator or rotor assembly to control the magnetic flux flow in one direction and encourage the flux in the opposite direction in certain areas of the stator and rotor assembly. Rotating flux conducting metal shunts are disposed adjacent permanent magnets creating magnetic flux to control the flux flow and pattern to most effectively use the flux forces on the rotor resulting in very high efficiencies in motor or generator operation.
Abstract: A serviceable fused battery terminal comprising a disposable fused battery end containing a fuse link, the disposable fused battery end being initially integrated with a cable-connecting portion of the terminal which is secured to an electrical cable, for example by crimping in known manner. When the fuse blows, the battery end is removed from the cable-connecting end by breaking or separating it, while the cable-connecting end remains secured to the cable in its original fashion. A portion of the cable-connecting end is formed as a reattachment point for a replacement fused battery end 22, which is then secured to the remaining original cable-connecting end to create a new fused terminal. The inventive terminal allows for the easy replacement of blown fuses in the field without having to cut or otherwise remove the cable-connecting portion of the terminal from the cable.

Abstract: A removable orthotic shoe sole insert for a patient having a high arch comprises a built-up heel portion with a deep cup shape with a flaring around the heel pad area for containing the fatty fibrous heel pad, a arch area formed lower than the arch of the wearer and a forefoot portion just lateral to the first metatarsal head and lateral sesamoid of the foot and extending to the lateral edge of the insert. A shallow divot or depression is formed for receiving the first metatarsal and its underlying hallux sesamoids. The shoe sole insert is designed to accommodate the majority of foot sizes and is sized by the length from the posterior heel to the first metatarsal head of the foot so that the first metatarsal head is positioned in the shallow divot of the insert.
Abstract: An apparatus for removing deposits from a heat transfer wall of a heat exchanger. The apparatus includes a cleaning cycle control system that operates through the control system of the heat pump and eliminates the need for periodic acid cleaning of heat exchanger. The cleaning cycle control system engages a heating cycle of the heat pump to at least partially freeze the fluid adjacent to the heat transfer wall and then engages the cooling cycle of the heat pump to thaw the fluid adjacent to the heat transfer wall. The thermal expansion and contraction of the deposits on the heat transfer wall and the flow of fluids through the heat exchanger flush deposits from the heat transfer wall of the heat exchanger.

Abstract: A motor vehicle door handle assembly, including a face plate positioned flush with the door outer surface. When operator pressure is applied to the face plate, the face plate pops out under spring pressure to a position where it may be gripped by the operator and pulled outwardly to unlatch the door and allow opening of the door. When the face plate is thereafter released, the face plate is returned to its flush position in the door by a damper mechanism which overcomes the face plate spring during the return movement of the door handle to return the face plate to its flush position.
Abstract: A window regulator mechanism for a motor vehicle door providing ready adjustability to accommodate manufacturing tolerances in the door glass guide channels receiving the side edges of the window glass or, in the case of a sashless door, to accommodate manufacturing tolerances in the seal carried by the vehicle body. Adjustability is provided by a cam member which is rotatly mounted on carrier plate of a carrier assembly and which coacts with a follower surface on a glass clip mounted on an upper edge of the carrier plate. The follower surface is provided as a cutout in a lower edge of a stabilizer portion of the glass clip whereby the stabilizer portion serves not only to preclude cocking of the glass clip relative to the carrier plate but also to provide the cam follower surface for coaction with the cam member carried by the carrier plate.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing non-slip floor coverings made of mineral materials, such as, for example, natural stone, fine stoneware, artificial stone or ceramics. This method is carried out in a two-stage process, there being produced on the surface of the floor coverings or slabs, in a first process stage by means of pulsed laser bombardment, statistically distributed microcraters invisible to the human eye. The surface of the floor coverings or slabs obtained in this way is then, according to the invention, subjected to hydromechanical aftertreatment.
Abstract: A laser material processing head for monitoring and adjusting a laser welding process. The present invention provides a laser material processing head having a laser source for providing a laser beam for laser welding a workpiece. A position sensor coupled to the laser material processing head measures the difference between the actual position of the workpiece and a predetermined theoretical position of the workpiece. An adjustment mechanism allows for adjustment of the laser beam in response to the position sensor. A closed loop controller interfaces the position sensor with the adjustment mechanism thereby providing a closed loop system within the laser material processing head.
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for applying a plaster-like coating material to the decorative exposed surface of a preform workpiece. The apparatus comprises; means for mechanically advancing a workpiece along the apparatus along a straight horizontal axis over a non-continuous surface; means for engaging the bottom portion of a workpiece to constrain lateral and vertical movement as the workpiece passes along the apparatus; and means for applying a desired thickness of plaster-like coating material to a decorative surface of an advancing workpiece. Both the method and apparatus provide on a consistent basis, a smooth coating with a controlled thickness tightly bonded to the entire exposed decorative surface of a workpiece. The method and apparatus provide a simple, efficient, cost effective and reliable means for applying a plaster-like coating to the exposed decorative surface of a workpiece for use on a commercial scale in the construction industry.

Abstract: A Brake Transmission Shift Interlock and Park Lock System having a shift lever, electromagnetic device, and blocking member operating with reverse logic. The system includes disabling means for disabling operation of the electromagnetic device when the shift lever is moved out of the PARK position and overriding means for manually withdrawing the blocking member from a position blocking the movement of the shift lever out of the PARK position. A time delay circuit decreases the speed of blocking member movement from the blocking position to the withdrawn position. A wire harness, including a park detection switch, electrically connects the BTSI to an automotive electrical system.
