  • Patent number: 6664939
Abstract: A parabolic antenna comprising at least a reflector of deformable material, the reflector having a parabolic shape of a preferred curvature, and a rigid structural substrate comprising a foam sufficient to maintain the parabolic shape of the reflector against significant deviation from said parabolic shape. The deformable material of the reflector is characterized by its inability to maintain the parabolic shape of a preferred curvature in the absence of the rigid structural substrate. A method of forming the inventive antenna is disclosed, comprising the steps of: Providing a backing section and a reflector made of deformable material, the backing section and reflector being mateable to define a hollow interior cavity; maintaining the reflector on a forming die in conformance with a preferred curvature of the reflector; and injecting an expandable, foam slurry into the hollow interior cavity and curing the foam slurry to form the antenna.

  • Patent number: 6658803
Abstract: An access door is suitable for installation in a structure such as a building and allows ready access to an enclosed region of the structure. The access door includes a door frame that can be mounted on the structure and that forms an access opening. A panel removably covers the access opening on an exterior side of the door frame. Two parallel connecting links are pivotably connected both to the door frame and to the panel in a manner permitting the panel to be moved from an open position where the access opening is uncovered to a closed position where the panel covers the access opening. A frame member connects the two links together in a rigid manner. One or more threaded fasteners can be used to detachably connect the panel so that it is secured in the closed position. In one embodiment, a single screw can detachably connect the panel to a pivotable connecting frame that includes the two links. In another version, the panel can be detachably and directly connected to the door frame by fasteners.

  • Patent number: 6660350
Abstract: A method for preparing a multi-layer tube, useful prior to endforming for brakeline connections, comprises the steps of forming a metal tube having an outer surface and an end and bonding a corrosion resistant layer to the metal tube outer surface. A surface treatment layer is bonded to the corrosion resistant layer. A first polymeric layer is extruded onto the metal tube, such that is bonds to the surface treatment layer; and a second polymeric layer is extruded onto the metal tube, such that it bonds to the first polymeric layer. The method further comprises the step of vaporizing and removing at least a portion of the first and second polymeric layers from an area adjacent the end by rotating an axially defocused, generally elliptical cross-sectionally shaped laser beam 360° about the area, while leaving the corrosion resistant layer intact.

  • Patent number: 6648669
Abstract: A locking and unlocking structure for terminal connector housings of the type used in vehicle electrical systems, especially where terminals in the housings are unmated in staggered order. An axial locking member on one housing engages a locking receptacle on the other housing in a single-step locking connection, but can only be released through a series of alternating unlocking steps and connector separation steps in which the unmating of pilot and primary terminals is separated by one of the unlocking steps. The mechanical delay between the terminal unmating steps prevents arcing in high voltage or high current circuits.

  • Patent number: 6648245
Abstract: The operating mechanism is shown consisting of a rotary actuating member or turbine wheel driven by water flow through the head, the wheel having a cam co-action with a plate fixed in the shower head. The resulting axial oscillation of the wheel is imparted to a closure or restricting stopper or plug relative to an outlet opening in an outlet plate of the head, the plug being carried by a shaft from the wheel. Variable or pulsating water emission is thus effected from the opening. A rear perforated feed plate directs water flow to the wheel which is shown resiliently loaded to maintain the cam co-action by a compression spring acting between the plate and wheel as in FIGS. 1 and 2. Positive two way cam operation of the wheel is shown in FIG. 3 by and between the feed plate and plate. The plug is screw adjustable on the shaft for variation of water emission and has a taper cooperation with the outlet opening.
