Abstract: A moving picture coding apparatus includes a motion compensation coding unit for deciding a coding mode for coding a current block to be coded and for generating predictive image data based on the coding mode, and includes a direct mode enable/disable judgment unit for judging whether or not scaling processing can be performed when the coding mode decided by the motion compensation coding unit is a temporal direct mode. When it is judged that the scaling processing cannot be performed, the motion compensation coding unit performs motion compensation either by using another coding mode or without the scaling processing.

Abstract: An oil control valve for a cam phaser of an internal combustion engine where the spool is positioned by an external actuator. The pressure enters the end of the oil control valve where the resultant pressure force is balanced by the differential area of the spool. The spool contains two plate check valves enabling cam torque recirculation of oil from A to B or B to A depending upon the spool position. In mid position, the spool lands block A and B to hold the cam phaser position. Three or five positions may be utilized.
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for an office chair. In order to accomplish an advantageous motion characteristic of the mechanism and thus of the office chair, a synchronized mechanism provides a correlated seat/backrest movement of an office chair. The backrest support is connected to the seat support not directly and immediately, but via a coupling element. The force applied to the seat support upon swiveling the backrest support is applied to the seat support solely via the coupling element. Two guide element pairs are provided to guide the seat support relative to the base support.
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for obtaining an implantable cartilage gel for tissue repair of hyaline cartilage, comprising particles of chitosan hydrogel and cells that are capable of forming hyaline cartilage, said method comprising a step for amplification of primary cells in a three-dimensional structure comprising particles of physical hydrogel of chitosan or a chitosan derivative, then a step for re-differentiation and induction of the synthesis of extracellular matrix by said amplified cells, in the same three-dimensional structure, wherein said cells are primary articular chondrocytes and/or mesenchymal stem cells differentiated into chondrocytes. The present invention also concerns the cartilage gel obtained thereby, and its various uses for cartilage repair following a traumatic lesion or an osteoarticular disease such as osteoarthritis.

Abstract: The present invention relates generally to electronic smoking devices and in particular electronic cigarettes.
