Abstract: An automatic speech recognition system comprising a speech decoder to resolve phone and word level information, a vector generator to generate information vectors on which a confidence measure is based by a neural network classifier (ANN). An error signal is designed which is not subject to false saturation or over specialization. The error signal is integrated into an error function which is back propagated through the ANN.
Abstract: A web browser plug-in supports a team approach to Internet research. An initial search, preferably by a web robot, generates an initial plurality of potentially relevant URLs, which are stored in a shared URL database. Team members are notified when new URLs are added to the database. Team members, optionally through an access control system, evaluate and rank the URLs for relevance. URLs are managed based on their rank, such as ordering their display and deleting non-relevant URLs. The rank of a URL may be indicated visually in a web browser, such as by displaying graphic icons adjacent its title. The method may be iterative, with additional searches conducted, preferably via additional web robots, with the additional URLs returned being evaluated, ranked, and managed in the URL database.

Abstract: A memory system having a memory controller and a memory. The memory controller is coupled to a processor and to the memory. The memory comprises one or more daisy chains of memory chips. An address/command word is chained through a daisy chain of memory chips and is handled by one of the memory chips in the daisy chain of memory chips. Data to be written to a memory chip is sent as part of the address/command word, or is transferred on an outgoing data bus chain. Data read from a memory chip is transferred on an incoming data bus chain. A daisy chain of memory chips can include memory chips on multiple carriers, or the daisy chain of memory chips can all be attached to a single carrier.

Abstract: A freeze indicator employs, as active indicator element, dispersion of solid particles in a liquid medium which can be water or aqueous and which coagulates to provide an irreversible appearance change when subject to freezing. The liquid dispersion can be contained in an indicator volume around which extends a vapor block layer. The vapor block layer can prevent loss of liquid vapor from the dispersion and consequent drying out and dysfunctionality of the freeze indicator. For containing an aqueous medium, bilayer and trilayer laminate materials can be used which have a low water vapor transmission rate. The active indicator element can be a dilute colloidal dispersion of a metal such as gold or silver or other inorganic pigment material in water or an aqueous medium. Some embodiments avoid use of dispersants and the like and employ an active indicator element consisting of inorganic pigment particles, water and optionally an ice nucleating agent.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for correcting for deterministic jitter in a sequential sampling timebase. The value of a fine analog delay is held at a substantially constant nominal rate during a duration of a counting of a digital clock. A time difference between a trigger at which a fine analog delay starts measuring time and the occurrence of a digital pulse of a stable clock used to count a coarse delay is measured. An input waveform is sampled at a sample time having a nominal delay time. After sampling, a desired compensation time is provided for the sample of the input waveform in accordance with combinations of three independent variables defining a calibration table. The waveform is reconstructed by shifting a delay time of a sampled value of the input waveform from its nominal delay time in accordance with a value defined by the calibration table.
