  • Patent number: 4701051
Abstract: In a laser-doppler-apparatus, the size of moving spherical particles in a fluid flow is determined by crossing two spatially separated laser beams (15, 16) to intersect each other under a given angle (.theta.) in a measuring volume passed by a part of the fluid flow. By means of two photoelectric measuring detectors (17, 18) arranged in different spatial positions outside the measuring volume, scattered rays from a moving particle are detected in the form of doppler signals having different phase. The particle size is determined by generating a resulting phase difference signal (.phi..sub.M) from the signals from the two measuring detectors (17, 18). By combining the signal from one measuring detector (17) with the signal from a reference detector (19) positioned between the two measuring detectors, a phase reference signal (.phi..sub.R) is generated to indicate whether the resulting phase difference signal (.phi..sub.M) has been caused by a phase difference between the doppler signals exceeding 2.pi..

  • Patent number: 4699134
Abstract: By a pressure-relieving bandage there is arranged a flexible, non-adhesive, waterproof film (2) between a foam layer (1) and a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer (3) containing a hydrocolloid. This will ensure that the expansion of the adhesive by moisture absorption will preferably take place in a direction away from the film (2) and in towards the body. The bandage will therefore not so easily let go of its adhesion to the skin since there is no horizontal displacement of any importance. Moreover, the foam layer is provided with cuts (5) so that large or small sections (6) can be removed from the bandage. The plaster can therefore be used as a pressure-relieving bandage. For prophylactic use it is advantageous to insert a micro-porous tape (7) between the foam layer (1) and the film (2) and to leave out the adhesive layer (3). Instead the underside of the tape (7) and the film (2) is adhesive and protected by a removable protective cover (4).

  • Patent number: 4698719
Abstract: A protective triggering system protects the thyristor switch element of a pulse generator circuit controlling a pulse operated electrostatic precipitator. The protective triggering is initiated for every pulse in the area around passage of the pulse current from positive to negative, its object being to supplement the spark-over released retriggering system so as to ensure that spark-overs occurring immediately after the current passage across zero do not cause renewed thyristor current in the absence of a triggering signal.

  • Patent number: 4694637
Abstract: In a method of grouping, orienting, and packing articles such as ice-cream cones, the cones are advanced in rows on conveyors while being grouped and oriented, and are subsequently gripped in groups by a gripping device. Through suction heads gripping their respective groups, the gripping device is adapted to situate the groups in an open packing box. To permit the process to be carried out at a relatively high speed and low noise level, the articles are initially advanced in a first advancing direction while lying directly on a first endless and continuously running conveyor. They are then received in groups by a second endless and continuously running conveyor, which lifts the cones into contact with the suction heads of the gripping device while the mutual distance of the cones is being adjusted. The transfer of the cones from the first conveyor and through the second conveyor to the gripping device is carried out without stopping the advancing movement of the cones.

  • Patent number: 4695206
Abstract: A pneumatic conveyor for particulate material of low weight per piece comprises a separator formed by a cellular rotor with a filter wall adapted to separate the particulate material as the carrying air flows to the suction side of a blower. The pressure side of said blower is in communication with a conveyor duct communicating with the separator and having a threshold forcing part of the air upwards into the rotor so as to pass the filter wall in the opposite direction, thereby blowing the filter clean before the air contributes to the further conveyance of material through the duct.
