Abstract: A gasket for sealing the gap between two approximately parallel sealing surfaces which are displaced axially relative to each other during the assembly, during which the gasket follows one of the sealing surfaces and is compressed between said surface and the other sealing surface. The gasket body which is made of a soft elastic material, for example rubber, consists of two main parts (1) and (2) which are connected through a narrower connection part in such a manner that the sliding part (2) can pivot relative to the attachment part (1). To avoid a relative rotation of the gasket parts such that the assembly becomes unsuccessful, the axis of the connection part (3) extends diagonally from the point of attack (A) on the sliding part (2), towards the supporting surface (7) on the attachment part (1). The sliding part (2) may have a concave surface (4), and the connection piece (3) can have a less stiffness than the sliding part (2). The attachment part (1) can be connected to a reinforcement (17 ).
Abstract: A granular expanded mineral material, e.g. vermiculite, is caused to move in the form of a free flow (28) through a mist (46) produced by an atomizer (29). A waterglass solution and a hardener therefor are supplied through conduits (32,43) and (33,42) respectively, to the intrior of the atomizer (29) for co-atomization to produce said mist (46). A small amount of hydrophobizing agent non-emulsifiable in the waterglass solution is introduced into the stream of waterglass solution in the conduit (32,43). An in-line mixer (53) is built into that conduit immediately ahead of its exit (45) to the atomizer. By passing through the atomized mist (46) the grains of the expanded mineral material are individually coated with a film of waterglass solution and hardener with hydrophobizing agent finely distributed therein. The film-coated granular material is immediately thereafter pneumatically conveyed to a place of deposition on a surface, e.g.

Abstract: A process for preparing urethanes by reacting a solution of a nitrogen-containing organic compound and a hydroxyl-containing organic compound with carbon monoxide in the presence of a catalyst comprising rhodium, as a metal or compound, is disclosed. In the process of this invention, the rate of conversion and selectivity to urethane is increased by providing a rhodium catalyst comprising a polyamino ligand having at least two tertiary amino groups capable of coordinating with rhodium.
Abstract: In order to counteract coagulation of a blood sample which is collected from an animal or a human body (24) and introduced into a receptacle, such as a syringe chamber (14), an anticoagulant is added to the sample within the receptacle. The anticoagulant may be capable of binding cation species in the blood, which are subsequently to be measured. Such cation species comprise hydrogen ions, ammonium ions, alkaline metal ions such as potassium and sodium ions, and alkaline earth metal ions such as magnesium and calcium ions. In order to compensate for the proportions of selected cation species which are bound by the anticoagulant, an additive containing such cation species is added to the blood sample so as to obtain substantially the same concentration of the selected cation species in an unbound condition in the anticoagulant treated blood sample as in the untreated blood sample.
Abstract: An ion-sensitive measuring electrode device with an ion-sensitive element based on ion-conducting crystalline ceramic material is provided. The electrode device shows a selectivity to the Na.sup.+ ion versus the H.sup.+ ion corresponding to the selectivity of the known sodium-sensitive glass-based solid membrane electrodes.Ion-sensitive measuring electrode devices showing good selectivity properties are provided on the basis of ion-conducting crystalline material, the crystal structure of which comprises a three-dimensionally extending interstitial space containing positions for the ion, especially material in which the interstitial space has bottlenecks which just permits passage of the ion.A method for preparing polycrystalline ceramic material based on oxides of zirconium, phosphor and silicon is also provided.
Abstract: A skirt (7) of finely corrugated sheet of lead is at its top edge assembled in a folded joint with the lower edge of a covering rail (4) mounted on the lower frame portion (3) of a skylight. Abstract: The invention relates to a control unit for a hydraulically operated consumer of the type which is used for operating heavily intermittently and loaded machines such as cranes. The consumer is fed in accordance with a load sensing function with pressurized fluid which depends on the opening of the supply valve but is independent of load pressure variations. The invention is directed to minimizing the lagging of the adjustments to different loading conditions to provide more rapid stabilization. This is done by providing the signal conduit with three branches between the inlet and outlet lines to form a pressure dividing arrangement in which the signal pressure is no longer equal to the load pressure but is composed of parts of the load pressure and the output of a pressure regulating valve in the inlet line of the unit. Upon fluctuation in the load the amount of flow is not kept constant but instead decreases with an increasing load and increases with a drop in the load.

Abstract: Apparatus for thickening, or de-watering, and refining fibre-pulpsuspensions include a screw-press thickener (1) and a refiner (2). In order to prevent air from entering the pulp and to provide a simpler arrangement, the outfeed end of the screw-press thickener (1) is connected directly to the infeed end of the refiner (2), therewith also to serve as an infeed screw to the refiner (2). In this respect the thickener (1) has a screening jacket (5) which embraces the screw (6). The screening jacket has at least one section which converges in the pulp feed direction, to achieve in the screw-press (1) a press effect required for de-watering the pulp while at the same time achieving the requisite reduction in diameter of the screening jacket (5) for connection to the refiner (2).
