  • Patent number: 4611468
Abstract: It has been recognized long ago that stickless frozen block bodies of a size corresponding to the ice block bodies of ordinary ice lollies may be produced with the aid of standard freezing machines for producing the ice lollies, when these machines are modified such that the individual sticks are replaced by pin members on an uptake device as operable to lift a whole row of ice bodies up from their freezing pocket members, whereafter the ice bodies are caused to be retracted from the pins. However, the correct and automatic mounting of the uptake device relative the freezing pockets is very problematic, and the invention provides for the improvement that use is made of individual sticks for the single freezing pockets, whereby these sticks, prior to their final retraction from the ice bodies, may be handled automatically with the use of both mounting and retraction means, which are already highly developed for the production of ice lollies.

  • Patent number: 4611757
Abstract: A mixing device for mixing two fluids, in particular cold and hot water, includes a mixing valve and an enclosure which houses at least some component parts. For temperature control the device includes an electric motor which is adapted to turn a movable valve disc of the valve for controlling the temperature. A micro processor with an operating portion, display portion and control portion is provided in the enclosure in connection with a temperature sensor in the water outlet of the valve, and with the electric motor. A display shows the temperature of the fluid, and the operating portion includes two switch knobs or buttons for raising and lowering the fluid temperature. Flow control takes place by means of a turning handle. Through an eccentric linkage rotary motion of the handle is converted to a substantial linear motion of the movable valve disc.

  • Patent number: 4610365
Abstract: Hoisting arrangement having a boom or a crane with two separately driven hoist wires each with its individual cargo hook. The cargo hooks along with the hoist wires are used for various lifting operations. The hoist wires and a topping wire are operated by their respective winches. The hoist wires are connected via their winches to a common power supply system via a selection valve whereby a constant tension is exerted on the hoist wire. The winches are adapted to pay out hoist wire if the pull in the hoist wire exceeds this constant tension and to draw in hoist wire if the pull falls below the constant tension.

  • Patent number: 4608989
Abstract: A stand-off cell for an ultrasonic scanner head has a slit in which a biopsy needle can be guided. The whole introduction will therefore take place in the area supervisable by the scanner head so that the needle can be guided in a secure manner when making a biopsy. The stand-off cell can be made of a plastics with the same acoustic impedance as tissue and can therefore be manufactured very cheaply. After the needle is introduced the stand-off cell can be removed as the needle slides out through the slit. This makes the biopsy easier and makes it possible to utilize the scanner head in the best way.

  • Patent number: 4609130
Abstract: The invention relates to a diaphragm pump for dispensing or metering purposes, for example for use in liquid soap dispensers. The pressure chamber (7) of the pump is defined by a fixed wall (6) and the diaphragm (1). A check-valve on the inlet side towards a storage vessel (11) forms a cylindrical flange (4) movable in a groove (5) and sealing against the outer surface thereof. Arranged in a spout (2) passing through the diaphragm is an oblique wall (3), which is slotted through a short distance around its periphery, thereby to form a seal against the suction of air into the pressure chamber (7). The diaphragm (1) is arranged to be compressed by a pressure body (9) provided on a lever (8).

  • Patent number: 4609959
Abstract: A device for positioning a magnetic head into an operative position relative to a multi-track magnetic tape in a magnetic tape recorder. A magnetic head is disposed at one end of a magnetic head carrier while the opposite end of the head carrier is axially and laterally moveably mounted on a shaft attached to the tape recorder housing frame. A motor-driven worm gear engages a worm wheel mounted in an axially displaceable manner along the shaft. A spring mounted on the shaft urges the head carrier against the worm wheel so that upon rotation of the worm, the worm wheel is displaced along the shaft and moves the magnetic head perpendicularly to the running direction of the magnetic tape. A stop member is positioned adjacent the head carrier to prevent rotation of the head carrier during rotation of the worm wheel. In certain embodiments, the head carrier is pivotally mounted on the shaft in order to selectively pivot the magnetic head away from the operational working area thereof.

  • Patent number: 4608499
Abstract: A power system includes an a-c power supply which constitutes a voltage source for a user of d-c current. The a-c power supply is designed to generate an output voltage having a trapezoidal wave form. This is achieved by generating a sinusoidal voltage and then suppressing the waves at a predetermined amplitude to obtain flat-topped voltage waves. The edges of the trapezoidal waves representing the output voltage of the a-c power supply have slopes which equal or exceed the corresponding slopes of a sinusoidal curve having the same maximum amplitude and period as the trapezoidal output voltage. The a-c power supply is further designed to maintain the mean or average value, as well as the maximum value, of its output voltage constant.

  • Patent number: 4606088
Abstract: A cushion or pillow for use by making upholstered furniture comprises a generally block- or plate-shaped foam core (2) and a fibrous stuffing material (6) which surrounds the core. The stuffing material (6) includes at least one layer or web of a cable fiber material, the layer being dimensioned and retained to completely enclose the core. The long and generally uniformly oriented cable fibers or filaments are retained and the stuffing material does not include free or loose fibers. Accordingly, it is not necessary to make specific demands with respect to the tightness of cover fabrics, since there are no loose fibers which are able to penetrate the cover. The fact that the long fibers or filaments are continuous has also the effect that the fibers or filaments are not able to lump or become firmly bonded together and, thereby, the cushion can be cleaned by usual washing and drying.

  • Patent number: 4606671
Abstract: The invention relates to a coupling for making a connection secured against relative rotational and axial displacement between a hub member and a shaft member. The shaft and hub members have engaging keys and grooves at the internal and external circumferences thereof. The hub member has a circumferential groove undercutting the keys thereof and an insert member having the same key and groove configuration as the shaft member is disposed therein. The insert member is circumferentially offset relative to the hub member so that the respective keys and grooves thereof are out of alignment. The keys of the insert and hub members are then in axially abutting engagement with the insert member serving as an anchor so that a screw connection between the shaft and the insert members allows the shaft and hub members to be drawn towards each other to form a firm and secure connection.
