    Abstract: Apparatus and methods provide predistortion for a phased array. Radio frequency (RF) sample signals from phased array elements are provided along return paths and are combined by a hardware RF combiner. Phase shifters are adjusted such that the RF sample signals are phase-aligned when combined. Adaptive adjustment of predistortion for the amplifiers of the phased array can be based on a signal derived from the combined RF sample signals.

    Abstract: Time of Flight (ToF) depth image processing methods are disclosed for resolving corruption of ToF depth images. In ToF depth imaging, the light can travel paths of different lengths before returning to the pixel. Thus, the light hitting the pixel can have travelled different distances, and the distance obtained from an estimation procedure assuming a single distance may be spurious. Systems and methods are disclosed for including a time-of-flight imager and processor which resolves the multiple paths, and outputs the multiple depths at each pixel.

    Abstract: An image processing system having on-the-fly calibration uses the placement of the imaging sensor and the light source for calibration. The placement of the imaging sensor and light source with respect to each other affect the amount of signal received by a pixel as a function of distance to a selected object. For example, an obstruction can block the light emitter, and as the obstruction is positioned an increasing distance away from the light emitter, the signal level increases as light rays leave the light emitters, bounce off the obstruction and are received by the imaging sensor. The system includes a light source configured to emit light, and an image sensor to collect incoming signals including reflected light, and a processor to determine a distance measurement at each of the pixels and calibrate the system.

    Abstract: A cap for use with devices, such as sensors. The cap includes protrusions on its underside, to restrict the movement of a liquid or a gel placed under cap. The protrusions may take the form of walls or pillars, depending on the application. As such, the cap retains the liquid or gel in a specified position on the device. For example, an electrochemical sensor may require a liquid electrolyte to remain in place over one or more electrodes. The protrusions may not extend far enough to touch the device, but rather leave a small gap. However, because of the surface tension of the liquid, the liquid generally stays within the protrusions.

    Abstract: A rate of change of current sensor includes two measurement coils, arranged such that the turns of the first and second measurement coils are interleaved. The rate of change of current sensor further comprises two return coils, arranged to progress in an opposite direction to the measurement coils. The coils form loops and progress substantially around a target measurement conductor. This ensures that the two measurement coils both receive the same electrostatic coupling from external conductors which are not the target of the measurement operation. Further, the two measurement coils are arranged such that the first coil and the second coil are, on average, the same distance to the current-carrying conductor of interest.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides a magnetic multi-turn sensor comprising a continuous coil of magnetoresistive elements and a method of manufacturing said sensor. The continuous coil is formed on a substrate such as a silicon wafer that has been fabricated so as to form a trench and bridge arrangement that enables the inner and outer spiral to be connected without interfering with the magnetoresistive elements of the spiral winding in between. Once the substrate has been fabricated with the trench and bridge arrangement, a film of the magnetoresistive material can be deposited to form a continuous coil on the surface of the substrate, wherein a portion of the coil is formed in the trench and a portion of the coil is formed on the bridge.

Light reflected or scattered by an object can be detected by an optical receiver, such as a single-pixel detector. Contributions to the received optical signal corresponding to the respective transmit code sequences can be separated using a correlation-based technique, even when such contributions overlap in time. Regions of a field-of-regard illuminated by ones or groups of the transmit elements can be selected or adjusted, such as to provide controllable spatial (e.g., angular) selectivity of which portions of the field-of-regard are illuminated by particular transmit signals.
