Abstract: A surgical instrument is disclosed. The surgical instrument can include a first jaw, a second jaw, and a jaw closure lockout system. The first jaw can comprise a pivot pin slot and a slide pin slot. The second jaw can comprise an anvil and, in addition, a mounting portion comprising a pivot pin, which can be movably positioned in the pivot pin slot. A shiftable guide can be movably positioned in the first jaw and can comprise a body and a barrier wall. The body can comprise a slide pin movably positioned in the slide pin slot. The barrier wall can be aligned with a portion of the pivot pin slot when the slide pin is positioned within a range of positions in the slide pin slot, and the barrier wall can be offset from the pivot pin slot when the slide pin is positioned outside the range of positions.

Abstract: In some embodiments, a composition and/or method may include a rodenticide binding system formulated for safe and effective mixture into various feed rations which are fed to monogastric and ruminant animals such as poultry, swine, cows, cattle, and fish, among others. The rodenticide binding system includes novel combinations of one or more of an organoclay, an activated hydrated sodium calcium aluminosilicate clay, and a synthetic hectorite clay. In some embodiments, the binding composition may include organoclay, bentonite, hectorite, Leonardite, and/or any combination thereof. The toxin binding complex may effectively bind some pesticides (e.g., rodenticides) in the animal's digestive system, preventing their absorption and the consequent damages to the animal.

Abstract: An alumina-based adsorbent and method of making exhibiting high affinity and capacity towards fluoride ions and oxyanions of phosphorus and arsenic in a broad pH range and presence of large excess of competitive ions. Alumina based adsorbent is a mixed oxide of alumina existing in tetra-, penta-, and octahedral coordination at specific ratio, and oxides of polyvalent metals of elements titanium, zirconium, tin, cerium, lanthanum, iron, or combinations thereof. The alumina based adsorbent may be used for selective removal of fluoride ion and oxyanions of phosphorus and arsenic from drinking water, industrial streams and wastes, in medicine and food industry.

Abstract: A method of and system for adhesive bonding by a) providing a polymerizable adhesive composition on a surface of an element to be bonded to form an assembly; b) irradiating the assembly with radiation at a first wavelength capable of vulcanization of bonds in the polymerizable adhesive composition by activation of sulfur-containing compound with at least one selected from x-ray, e-beam, visible, or infrared light to thereby generate ultraviolet light in the polymerizable adhesive composition; and c) adhesively joining two or more components together by way of the polymerizable adhesive composition.

Abstract: A backup agent for generating backups includes a persistent storage and a backup manager. The persistent storage stores backup/restoration policies. The backup manager obtains production host computing resource characteristics associated with production hosts; performs a computing resource analysis of the production host computing resource characteristics to obtain resource profiles for each of the production hosts; performs an availability analysis of the obtained resource profiles to determine an application-level computing resources distribution for generating the backups; coordinates generating the backups using the application-level computing resource distribution and the backup/restoration policies to obtain the backups; and stores the obtained backups in backup storage.

Abstract: Described herein is a system and method for a static streaming job startup sequence. During compilation of a streaming job, a graph of computing nodes of the streaming job is traversed to determine a minimum start time of computing node(s) downstream of each input computing node of the streaming job. Also, during compilation, a start time is assigned to each input computing node in accordance with the determined minimum start time. During execution of the streaming job, responsive to receipt of the trigger anchor by a particular input node, processing of the particular input computing node using the determined minimum start time is commenced. The input computing node further generates an anchor. Input data is received, and, a batch of data provided in accordance with the received input data and generated anchor.

Abstract: A system for controlling accesses to network enabled devices includes a network interface over which a hub communicates with network enabled devices, a processor, and a multilayer access control layer. The access control layer includes instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to detect, at the hub, a request representing an attempt by an application executing on a remote host device to access a network enabled device communicatively coupled to the hub, characterize the request according to a user of the remote host device, the application making the attempt, and the network enabled device, and determine whether to allow or deny the request based upon the characterization and a plurality of rules. The rules may include definitions of access rights, with respect to the network enabled device, for users, applications, commands or queries made by applications, remote host devices, and network domains.

Abstract: A rollable ridge vent for covering an open ridge of a roof and for allowing a flow of air to exit from the open ridge through the ridge vent includes a top panel having a center portion, a left side portion, and a right side portion, in which the top panel includes a plurality of louvers for allowing a flow of air to exit the ridge vent. In addition, the rollable ridge vent includes a spaced apart series of inner walls and a spaced apart series of outer walls extending downward from the left side portion of the top panel. The spaced apart series of inner walls and the spaced apart series of outer walls of the left side portion are staggered. The rollable ridge vent also includes a spaced apart series of inner walls and a spaced apart series of outer walls extending downward from the right side portion of the top panel. The spaced apart series of inner walls and the spaced apart series of outer walls of the right side portion are staggered.

Abstract: A diversion connector is used for a downhole pump having a plunger and a barrel in a well. The diversion connector is useful in a sandy well having particulates. The plunger has an interior and is reciprocated by a rod relative to the barrel. The connector includes one or more bodies, such as a mandrel, attaching the rod to the plunger. The mandrel has a first exterior surface and defines a fluid passage communicating with the interior of the plunger. A sleeve is disposed on the first exterior surface and has an interior surface floating relative to the first exterior surface. The floating sleeve at least partially prevents particulate uphole of the plunger from passing in a gap between the plunger and the barrel.

Abstract: Embodiments of golf club heads and methods to manufacture golf club heads are generally described herein. In one example, a golf club head may include a body portion including a first material and having a toe portion, a heel portion, a top portion, a sole portion, a back portion, a front portion having a face portion. The golf club head may also include a third mass portion including a second material and coupled to the body portion, and a plurality of mass portions coupled to the third mass portion. The density of the second material is greater than a density of the first material. The interior cavity may include an elastic polymer material. Abstract: A bowl may be configured to include an outer body that has a u-shaped cross section, and the outer body may have a bottom configured to support the bowl on a surface, the bottom also including a circular groove around a circumference of the bottom and a bracket within the circular groove, wherein a foot is inserted within the groove, and wherein the foot is secured to the circular groove by the bracket. The bowl may include an inner body, wherein the inner body is concave and dome-shaped. The inner body may hold a liquid or solid, and the inner body is connected to an upper edge of the outer body. An internal cavity is formed by the outer body and inner body, and the internal cavity is insulative. The connection formed by the upper edge of the outer body and the inner body may be seamless.

An aspect includes during an active replication session in which a first replication mode is performed, validating a precondition for transitioning to a second replication mode that is different from the first mode of replication. An aspect further includes suspending data flow for the active session, establishing a base snap set pair for a mode transition cycle, and preparing for the transitioning including updating, for the mode transition cycle, the base snap set pair on both a source system and a target system of the storage system, and creating a snap set against an active snap set on the target system as a mode transition cycle snap set. An aspect further includes implementing the mode transition cycle, and entering a replication session, upon completion of the mode transition cycle, for the second mode of replication.

Abstract: The disclosed embodiments include a mobile client device for automatically performing a mobile financial service function, including a memory storing software instructions, the software instructions including a mobile financial service application configured to perform financial service processes. The system may also include and one or more processors configured to execute the software instructions to detect a physical action performed on the mobile client device, and determine a first financial service function to perform based on the detected physical action, wherein the first financial service function is a function provided by the mobile financial service application. The one or more processors may also determine whether verification of a user is required, verify the user if verification of the user is required, and automatically initiate the first financial service function.

An example apparatus includes a coding format identifier to identify, from a received first audio signal representing a decompressed second audio signal, an audio compression configuration used to compress a third audio signal to form the second audio signal, and a source identifier to identify a source of the second audio signal based on the identified audio compression configuration.

In one instance, the messages can be observed from within a virtual switch outside hosting virtual machines. Abstract: A magnetic resistance system for use with drum sets that allows for various levels of magnetic repulsion between a drum beater and a batter head. A drum beater having a beater magnet is used in conjunction with an impact pad having an impact magnet. The drum beater is attached to a drum pedal, while the impact pad is integrated with the batter head of the drum, either directly or through a suspension bracket. The beater magnet and the impact magnet are oriented to repel each other as the drum beater is driven towards the batter head, thus creating an additional bounce back of the drum beater from the batter head of the drum. One or more subsequent impact pads may be interchanged or stacked with the impact pad in order to further increase the bounce back of the drum beater from the batter head.
