Abstract: New dinitriles are prepared by reacting an alpha, beta saturated nitrile with an alpha, beta unsaturated nitrile. For this preparation subzero temperatures are preferred. Higher diamines can be prepared by hydrogenating the dinitriles thus obtained, such diamines being reacted with a dicarboxylic acid or a salt, ester or chloride of such an acid to prepare polyamides having an amorphous character, i.e. transparent polyamides.
Abstract: A method for coating various surfaces is disclosed, which comprises the step of preparing a mixture composed by at least one compound such as an epoxy-acrylic resin, a polyester alpha-omega-acrylate resin, an unsaturated polyester resin, or a urethane-acrylate resin and by at least one unsaturated compound of the amide, lactam, piperidone and urea classes and using said mixture for compounding a varnish to be applied to the selected substrate and then irradiated with an appropriate radiation (range 200 to 400 nm wavelength).
Abstract: A process is disclosed for producing thermoelastomeric 3-block copolymers of the ABA (or ABC) type, the end blocks being a plastomeric nature and the intermediate block of an elastomeric nature, by cationic polymerization employing a composite catalytic system comprised of Aluminium alkyl, possibly with a halogen substituent, and of a halogen or a halogen-substituted hydrocarbon radical.
Abstract: Polyolefin polymers can successfully be stabilized against the detrimental effects of UV-radiations by compounding them with a stabilizer belonging to the class of compounds containing a pyrrolidine ring and which are sterically hindered in the 3-position and also substituted in such position by substituents having a high molecular weight. The esters of the 2,2,5,5-tetraalkyl-4-methyl-3-methylol pyrrolidine are exemplary compounds; the adipic and the stearic esters are preferred.

Abstract: Alkoxides of transition metals, selected from among tetravalent Ti, tetravalent and pentavalent V, tetravalent Cr and tetravalent Zr, actinides and lanthanides, are reduced to corresponding alkoxides of lower valency by reacting such higher valency metal alkoxides, in liquid phase, with vapors of metals of the alkaline earth group, the III group and the IV group metals and magnesium. Very efficient polymerization catalysts for the polymerization of unsaturated compounds are thus obtained.
Abstract: There are disclosed oligomeric aluminum hydride iminic derivatives, to be employed as catalysts in polymerization processes and which are prepared by causing alkali-metal or alkaline-earth-metal alanates to react with a primary amine which contains a group of the type --X--R".sub.m, wherein X is a nitrogen atom or an oxygen atom and m is equal to the valence of X minus one. The compounds have a trimeric or a tetrameric "open cage" spatial configuration.

Abstract: A process for preparing dimethylcarbonate by reacting methanol with mixtures of carbon monoxide and oxygen which also contain hydrogen. The catalyst is constituted by a salt of a metal of groups IB, IIB or VIII of the periodic system, dissolved or dispersed in the reaction medium. It has been found that the hydrogen does not interfere in the reaction, so that a hydrogen-enriched gaseous mixture (synthesis gas) is withdrawn from the reactor. It is therefore particularly advantageous in that it produces dimethylcarbonate and at the same time provides hydrogen-enriched synthesis gas.
