  • Patent number: 12099654
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods that provide content that distracts a user's attention away from discomfort, for example, occurring due to a prior injury or ongoing medical condition. The content is adjusted over time based on tracking the user's attentiveness towards the content. Specifically, the user's current attentive state may be tracked using physiological sensors and used to adapt content to mitigate the perception of discomfort. In some implementations, the user's stress is also assessed and used an indication of the user's current discomfort level to better track when the user's attentive state is shifting from the content to the discomfort and adjust the content accordingly.

  • Patent number: 12096829
Abstract: Bands for electronic devices, including wearable devices, are designed to dynamically alter their shape (e.g., lengthen) in response to an external force. A band may include one or more interior structures disposed in an exterior structure. The interior structure(s) is/are pulled in tension by the exterior structure. When the interior structure(s) is/are pulled in tension, an additional force (e.g., by a user) that applies tension to the interior structure(s) may cause a relatively small change in tension to the interior structure(s). As a result, the band may appear to provide the same amount to users, despite users having a different wrist size/diameter. A similar phenomenon may occur to a single user when the user's wrist changes in size. Accordingly, based on the interior structure(s) being placed in tension by the exterior structure(s), the force provided by the band may appear constant to users.

  • Patent number: 12099653
Abstract: Various implementations provide views of 3D environments (e.g., extended reality (XR) environments). Non-eye-based user activity, such as hand gestures, is associated with some types of eye-based activity, such as the user gazing at a particular user interface component displayed within a view of a 3D environment. For example, a user's pinching hand gesture may be associated with the user gazing at a particular user interface component, such as a button, at around the same time as the pinching hand gesture is made. These associated behaviors (e.g., the pinch and gaze at the button) may then be interpreted as user input, e.g., user input selecting or otherwise acting upon that user interface component. In some implementations, non-eye-based user activity is only associated with types of eye-based user activity that are likely to correspond to a user perceiving what they are seeing and/or intentionally looking at something.

  • Patent number: 12100968
Abstract: An electronic device (that is capable of both transmitting and receiving wireless power) may be physically and inductively coupled to a removable accessory (that only receives wireless power). The electronic device and removable accessory may optionally be placed on a power transmitting device. In response to the electronic device and removable accessory being placed on a wireless power transmitting device, the electronic device may switch from a power transmitting mode (in which the electronic device transmits wireless power to the removable accessory) to a power receiving mode (in which the electronic device receives wireless power from the wireless power transmitting device). To ensure the electronic device detects the wireless power transmitting device and switches to the power receiving mode in this scenario, the electronic device may transmit wireless power in bursts separated by sleep periods while in the power transmitting mode.

  • Patent number: 12099672
Abstract: An electronic device with a first off-display input region detects a first portion of an input on the input region. In response to the first portion of the input: when the first portion of the input meets first criteria without a characteristic intensity of the first input increasing above a first intensity threshold, the electronic device provides a first output that indicates a current state of a first attribute of the electronic device without altering the first attribute. The electronic device detects a second portion of the input. In response to the second portion of the input: if the second portion of the first input meets second criteria that require the characteristic intensity of the input increases above the first intensity threshold, the electronic device performs a first operation that alters the first attribute of the electronic device; and otherwise, the electronic device forgoes performing the first operation.

  • Patent number: 12100106
Abstract: In one implementation, a method involves tessellating a surface of a 3D object by identifying vertices having 3D positions. The method transforms the 3D positions into positions for a first sphere-based projection for a left eye viewpoint and positions for a second sphere-based projection for a right eye viewpoint. Transforming the 3D positions of the vertices involves transforming the vertices based on a user orientation (i.e., camera position) and differences left and right eye viewpoints (e.g., based on interaxial distance and convergence angle). The method further renders a stereoscopic 360° rendering of the 3D object based on the first sphere-based projection for the left eye viewpoint and the second sphere-based projection for the right eye viewpoint. For example, an equirectangular representation of the first sphere-based projection can be combined with an equirectangular representation of the second sphere-based projection to provide a file defining a stereoscopic 360° image.
