Publication number: 20240264963Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for performing scatter and gather direct memory access (DMA) streaming through a circular buffer are described. A system includes a circular buffer, producer DMA engine, and consumer DMA engine. After the producer DMA engine writes or skips over a given data chunk of a first frame to the buffer, the producer DMA engine sends an updated write pointer to the consumer DMA engine indicating that a data credit has been committed to the buffer and that the data credit is ready to be consumed. After the consumer DMA engine reads or skips over the given data chunk of the first frame from the buffer, the consumer DMA engine sends an updated read pointer to the producer DMA engine indicating that the data credit has been consumed and that space has been freed up in the buffer to be reused by the producer DMA engine.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 16, 2024Publication date: August 8, 2024Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Marc A. Publication number: 20240264415Abstract: A freeform folded optical system that include two freeform prisms with optical power. At least one of the freeform prisms is configured to fold the optical axis twice. Thus, embodiments of the freeform folded optical system fold the optical axis three or four times. Folding the optical axis three or four times in the freeform prisms allows for long focal lengths required for telephoto lens applications without requiring additional lens elements between the prisms. In addition, the configuration of the freeform folded optical system provides reduced Z-axis height when compared to conventional folded lens systems with similar optical characteristics.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2024Publication date: August 8, 2024Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventor: Takeyoshi Saiga

Publication number: 20240266768Abstract: Board-to-board connectors that can provide blind mating, are easily included in an electronic device, and are readily manufactured. An example can provide a self-aligning board-to-board connector that provides blind mating and that includes a first connector and a second connector. The first connector can include a first fastener fixed to a first internal housing or enclosure portion. A second fastener can be mated with the first fastener. The first connector can further include a housing, where the housing is flexibly connected to the first internal housing or enclosure portion but is constrained by the first fastener and the second fastener. This constraint can allow the first connector housing to move laterally and rotationally such that it can self-align to a second connector that is fixed to a second internal housing or enclosure portion when the first connector and second connector are mated.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2024Publication date: August 8, 2024Applicant: Apple Inc.Inventors: Jason S. Patent number: 12057927Abstract: The exemplary embodiments describe devices, systems and methods for implementing various exemplary techniques related to fifth generation (5G) new radio (NR) cell search. A user equipment (UE) selects a frequency band to scan during a cell search procedure and identifies a frequency within the frequency band that is associated with a synchronization signal block (SSB) based on an indication of the frequency stored locally at the UE prior to the cell search procedure. The UE then scans the frequency for the SSB and determines that the SSB has been broadcast by a cell over the frequency.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 2020Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Srirang A. Patent number: 12058689Abstract: An approach to reduce the signaling overhead for tracking reference signal (TRS) configuration signaling to idle and inactive user equipments (UEs) operating in a wireless communication system. Conventional signaling approaches require more bits that can be conveyed in the maximum system information block (SIB) message size. One proposed approach optimizes the signaling by removing unnecessary or redundant information, using a single TRS configuration to replace multiple configurations, size reduction in some fields, and the sharing of some fields across different TRS configurations. Another proposed approach uses an SIB message to carry the TRS configurations for a particular beam or subset of beams. These two proposed approaches may be combined to provide further optimization possibilities.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2021Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: APPLE INC.Inventors: Fangli Xu, Sethuraman Gurumoorthy, Huaning Niu, Yushu Zhang, Chunhai Yao, Wei Zeng, Haitong Sun, Weidong Yang, Dawei Zhang, Sigen Ye

Patent number: 12058701Abstract: A base station of a network configures a first search space having a first search space identification (SearchSpaceId) in a special cell (SpCell) and a second search space having a second search space identification (SearchSpaceId) in a secondary cell (SCell) for monitoring control signaling that schedules operations on the SpCell. The base station transmits a radio resource control (RRC) configuration to a user equipment (UE) including the first SSID and the second SSID, wherein the RRC configuration configures the UE to monitor the first search space having the first SSID for scheduling of a first type of control signaling and the second search space having the second SSID for scheduling of a second type of control signaling.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2021Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Haitong Sun, Chunxuan Ye, Dawei Zhang, Hong He, Huaning Niu, Seyed Ali Akbar Fakoorian, Wei Zeng, Yushu Zhang

Patent number: 12058598Abstract: A base station receives an alert indicating a geofenced area, and determines whether its coverage area is completely within the area. If so, the base station generates/sends a wireless emergency alert (WEA) to user equipment in the coverage area that does not indicate the area. Otherwise, the base station generates/sends a WEA that indicates the area. The base station sends action messages that indicate a periodicity and end time for the user equipment to determine whether its location is within the geofenced area, a lack of service time limit and lack of service action for the user equipment to perform after it has been without cellular service for the lack of service time limit, a lack of location time limit and lack of location action for the user equipment to perform if its location cannot be determined for the lack of location time limit, and/or that the WEA has ended.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2022Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Utkarsh Kumar, Kirk Allan Burroughs, Samuel J. Patent number: 12058516Abstract: During operation, an electronic device may encrypt an A-control subfield. Then, the electronic device may provide the frame addressed to a second electronic device, where the frame includes a media access control (MAC) header and the MAC header includes the A-control subfield that is encrypted. Note that the encrypted A-control subfield may be jointly encrypted with data in a payload in the frame. Moreover, the encrypted A-control subfield may be separated from the payload in the frame by one or more additional subfields or may be adjacent to the payload in the frame. Furthermore, the MAC header may include an indicator that indicates whether the A-control subfield is encrypted. Additionally, the frame may include a preamble that indicates whether the A-control subfield is encrypted. The frame may be received by the second electronic device. After receiving the frame, the second electronic device may decrypt the A-control subfield.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2021Date of Patent: August 6, 2024Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Jinjing Jiang, Yong Liu, Su Khiong Yong, Tianyu Wu, Jarkko L.
