  • Patent number: 4729669
Abstract: A linear ball bearing for a carriage in a machine tool has a support with a pair of raceways which oppose a corresponding pair of raceways formed in the carriage. Two endless rows of balls are arranged to circulate in adjacent planes, with the loaded balls rolling between the opposing raceways. One or two rails are fastened to the support for guiding the loaded balls outwardly of the support. The loaded balls of one row mesh in the interstices of the loaded balls of the other row. Each rail has a guiding web for laterally guiding the loaded balls and at least one retaining web for partly encompassing the loaded balls. The longitudinal gaps between the rail and the support have widths less than the ball diameter, thereby blocking the balls from falling out of the support when the bearing is disassembled.

  • Patent number: 4728943
Abstract: Means for determining the state of lubrication in surfaces lubricated by a lubricant and rolling or sliding with respect to one another, provided with a unit for generating a signal dependent upon the capacitance between the lubricated surfaces, characterized by an operating circuit connected to the unit which, in response to the signal dependent upon the capacitance, emits a second signal which is dependent in accordance with a non-linear, for example, exponential, function upon the capacitance between the lubricated surfaces such as that one and the same relative variation in the thickness of the lubricant between the lubricated surfaces results in a fairly great signal variation in the event of decreasing thickness, the second signal being supplied to an integrator which integrates the second signal over an integration period displaced in time and the output signal of which indicates the state of lubrication.

  • Patent number: 4714359
Abstract: A rolling bearing arrangement for supporting a journal of a work roll has two cylindrical rolling bearings for carrying radial loads and an inclined rolling bearing for carrying axial loads arranged between the cylindrical rolling bearings. The rows of rolling bodies of the inclined rolling bearing have radially inwardly directed lines of load transmission and are displaceable on at least one of the respective raceways in both directions transverse to the rolling direction. The end surfaces of the inner ring of the inclined rolling bearing are slidably displaceable in a substantially radial direction on the opposing end surfaces of the inner rings of the cylindrical rolling bearings. The radial play between the inner ring of the inclined rolling bearing and the journal is greater than the radial play between the inner rings of the cylindrical rolling bearings and the journal.

  • Patent number: 4710269
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and means of increasing capacity and improving the chemical recovery process when using a conventional soda recovery boiler for recovering chemicals out of spent sulphate liquors. The spent sulphate liquor is supplied in full or in part to a liquor gasifier (8) while external energy independent of combustion is simultaneously supplied (at 16, 17). The temperature and oxygen potential are carefully controlled independently of each other by means of controlled supply of the energy. The product thus obtained is thereafter introduced in full or in part into a soda recovery boiler (1).

  • Patent number: 4710039
Abstract: A roller cage for rollers with end surface depressions has holding projections preformed in the side ring sections thereof in the region of the pockets, in order to avoid a change of diameter of the holding projections and a change of the pocket shape during the shaping of the holding projections. The side ring sections are provided with recesses in the region of the edge of the depressions of the rollers so that no material stretching can occur in these parts of the side ring. The guide projections serve to axially guide the roller.

  • Patent number: 4706966
Abstract: A seal comprising a gap between e.g. a flange (5) on a shaft and an element (6) arranged in a surrounding housing (2) is used for separating a fluid in a space (3) in the housing from the space (4) surrounding the housing. A pressurized fluid is supplied to the gap via a conduit (8) and a pocket (7) and flows to the space (3) and the space (4). The gap tends to be closed by the fact that the element (6) is elastically supported in the housing (2) by ductile membranes (10,11) and is pressed against the flange (5) by the pressure in the space between the membranes.
