  • Patent number: 5901034
Abstract: The electronic instrument has a two-part housing (26, 27) which surrounds in a dusttight manner a printed board fitted with at least one electronic component. The housing (26, 27) contains a ventilating orifice (50) led through one of its two parts. A ventilating device (51) is arranged in this ventilating orifice (50), with an air-permeable diaphragm permeable to water vapor in a directionally dependent manner and with a splashwater guard preceding the diaphragm.Undesirable condensation water in the housing interior is avoided, since excess water vapor present in the housing interior is led outward through the diaphragm while the electronics are operating. At the same time, the splashwater guard prevents the diaphragm from coming into contact with splashwater and its operating capacity from being impaired.

  • Patent number: 5898149
Abstract: This power circuit-breaker has at least one cylindrically constructed arcing chamber which is provided with a stationary contact, with a moving contact and with a quenching zone between the two contacts. A shaft of the moving contact is permanently connected to a blowout volume which is closed off on the stationary contact side by an insulating nozzle through which at least one flow channel passes. The arcing chamber has a first compression volume which is operatively connected to the blowout volume and to a second compression volume. It is intended to provide a power circuit-breaker in which the blowing-out of the arc with pure SF.sub.6 gas is made stronger. This is achieved by providing a moving auxiliary piston between the first compression volume and the second compression volume and by the auxiliary piston being connected to the moving contact via a direction-changing device.

  • Patent number: 5896266
Abstract: The overvoltage suppressor has a cylindrical active part, which is arranged between two electrically conductive, cylindrical fittings and contains at least one varistor on a metal-oxide base, as well as an insulating material housing which surrounds the active part and is closed at the ends by the fittings. The insulating material housing is filled with an insulating material which surrounds the active part on the outside and is formed by an injection-molded or extruded insulating material tube and by a shielded weather protection which is held on the outer surface of the tube. A first of the two fittings is integrally formed into the tube at a first of its two ends. An external thread on the second fitting is screwed into an internal thread in the tube, forming a contact force.

  • Patent number: 5868553
Abstract: An exhaust gas turbine for an exhaust gas turbocharger has a nozzle ring having an inner ring and an outer ring supporting a plurality of guide vanes. The nozzle ring is diagonally supported between a covering ring and the inlet casing, with the outer ring bearing against the covering ring and the inner ring bearing against the inlet casing. The outer ring provides an axial expansion gap with gas inlet casing and a radial expansion gap with the gas outlet casing. The nozzle ring is free to expand into the axial and radial gaps as a result of thermal expansion, without causing stress to the adjacent components.

  • Patent number: 5870297
Abstract: A method and a device for correcting the DC offset of a converter are specified. The invention is defined in that the output voltage of the converter on the AC voltage side is fed to an essentially passive low-pass filter which reduces the output voltage to a level which can be processed electronically. Connected downstream of the low-pass filter is a controller which controls the DC offset essentially to zero by delaying the switching commands. The low-pass filter and the controller are arranged at a high-voltage potential.

  • Patent number: 5866960
Abstract: In a gas-cooled electrical machine, the conductor bars (3, 4) in the winding overhang are cooled directly by a flow element of the cooling gas flow which is passed through cooling channels (8) located within the eyes (5a, 5b) of the bar ends. To this end, the bar levels of the winding bars, which are designed as a two-level bar, are spaced apart from one another in the eye region, and thus form a radial cooling channel (8). These radial cooling channels (8) are coupled to the discharge eyes (5b) by pipe connections (10) which are connected electrically, and in terms of the flow, to round connections (20). The cooling channels (9) in the round connections (20) are connected by means of insulating tubes (31) or insulating hoses to an induction area (32) of the machine fan, which is separated from the winding overhang area (30) by a bulkhead wall (33). The invention allows the bar ends and the round connections (20) connected to them in the winding overhang to be cooled optimally, since the cooling is direct.

  • Patent number: 5863494
Abstract: An iron-nickel superalloy of the type IN 706 has an addition of 0.02 to 0.3 percent by weight of boron and/or 0.05 to 1.5 percent by weight of hafnium. By means of this addition, a virtual doubling of the ductility is achieved as compared with an addition-free iron-nickel superalloy of the type IN 706, while the hot strength is reduced only slightly. The alloy is particularly suitable as a material for rotors of large gas turbines. It has a sufficiently high hot strength. When locally acting temperature gradients arise unwanted stresses can occur to only a slight extent because of the high ductility of the alloy.

  • Patent number: 5852395
Abstract: The Rogovski coil (1) is provided with a winding (2) applied to a winding support made from an insulating material. It has a central axis (4) and an opening (5), which is enclosed by the winding support and is penetrated by the central axis (4). A particularly homogeneous winding (2) and, associated therewith, very accurate current measurement are achieved by virtue of the fact that a surface, facing the central axis (4), of the winding support is provided with first stops (7), which are distributed on the circumference, extend in the direction of the central axis (4), and divide the winding (2) into winding segments (9). In this case, the spacing between in each case two of the first stops (7) is always an integral multiple of the diameter (D) of the wire forming the winding (2).
