  • Patent number: 5983840
Abstract: The invention relates to a steam generator, which consists of a combustion chamber (1), a radiation part (2) and a convection part (3) and which has at least two vertical gas passes (4, 5) following the combustion chamber (1), in each case with a 180.degree. deflection of the flue gas (12), the combustion chamber (1) and the gas pass (4) being separated from one another by means of a first partition (14) and the two gas passes (4, 5) being separated from one another by means of a second partition (6). It is defined in that the second partition (6) is designed, at its lower end, in such a way that the passage area for the flue gas (12) from the vertical pass (4) with downward flow to the vertical pass (5) with upward flow has a variable value over the width, the passage area being smaller in the middle than on the outside. The secondary flow occurring during deflection is thereby reinforced, in the wall region the vortices of said secondary flow rotating opposite to the direction of the main flow deflection.

  • Patent number: 5983643
Abstract: The invention relates to a main-burner arrangement of a combustion chamber (5), in particular for a gas turbine, at least two main-burner groups (13.1, 13.2), each comprising at least one burner (13) of the same size and geometry being provided for the purpose of equipping the combustion chamber (5), and at least one main-burner group representing the normal main burner(s) (13.1), the normal main burner(s) (13.1) producing a homogeneous flame front in the combustion chamber (5), and the other main-burner group interfering as an interference burner or burners (13.2) with the homogeneity of the flame front in the combustion chamber (5). In this burner arrangement, the interference burner(s) (13.2) is/are arranged in the combustion chamber (5) so as to be inclined or axially displaced in relation to the normal main burner(s) (13.1). This interferes with the symmetry and homogeneity of the flame front. The power of the combustion chamber is increased and pressure pulsations can be avoided.

  • Patent number: 5986906
Abstract: A converter circuit arrangement is specified. An extremely compact structure is achieved by virtue of the fact that the current rise limiting inductor concentrically surrounds the second stack containing diode and resistor. In particular, the inductor can be designed as a wire helix surrounding the stack. A very compact structure of the converter is produced, furthermore, by virtue of the fact that the first and second stacks, that is to say the stack of the switches and the stack of the snubber, belong to a common clamping lattice.

  • Patent number: 5984670
Abstract: A burner for liquid and/or gaseous fuels (A, B, C) for a premixing combustion system in graduated load operation of a combustion chamber includes at least one inner partial body (2) that extends in the flow direction; at least one outer partial body (4) which extends conically opposite to the inner partial body (2); and at least one other surrounding pipe (8). The inner and outer partial bodies form a central flow structure, whereby the two are supplied with the flow in effective connection with each other with combustion air (13, 14, 15). The main part of this combustion air (13) then flows through the two partial bodies through air inlet slits (11, 12) and forms one rotational flow in each of the adjoining flow chamber (5, 7).

  • Patent number: 5982031
Abstract: The present invention discloses a power semiconductor module 10 having encapsulated submodules 1 which, for example, is suitable for power switches, rectifiers for the like in industrial or traction drives. The submodules 1 have a sandwiched structure made up of a ceramic substrate, one or a few power semiconductor chips and a molybdenum wafer, and are potted in plastic. They are held in plug-in locations 19 on a common baseplate 11 and make contact via a stack arrangement of conductors 12, 14, 18. Retention and contact of the submodules 1 take place reversibly via pressure contacts 15, 16, 20, clamp contacts 21 or the like. Important advantages of the power semiconductor module 10 relate to the simple and easily scaleable structure, improved ability to withstand thermal load cycles, and the robustness and easy interchangeability of the submodules.

  • Patent number: 5977761
Abstract: In the case of a three-phase transformer which, per phase (U, V, W), has a primary-side winding (U.sub.PW, V.sub.PW, W.sub.PW) and a secondary-side winding (U.sub.SW, V.sub.SW, W.sub.SW), in-phase regulating windings (U.sub.L, V.sub.L, W.sub.L) are provided on each limb per phase (U, V, W). These in-phase regulating windings (U.sub.L, V.sub.L, W.sub.L) serve, by means of a tap switch 3 and a load switch 6, for in-phase regulation for the purpose of reactive volt-amperes distribution in electrical power supply networks. In addition, the in-phase regulating windings (U.sub.L, V.sub.L, W.sub.L) are operatively connected via a further load switch 5 and a further tap switch 4 to a booster transformer (2). The voltages across primary windings U.sub.B, V.sub.B, W.sub.B of the booster transformer 2 effect quadrature or phase-angle regulation of the phase voltages U.sub.P, V.sub.P, W.sub.P in the three-phase transformer 1.

  • Patent number: 5975030
Abstract: A low-pressure feedwater preheater or heater in power station plants, heated with bleed steam and having a two-pass tube bundle of the tube sheet type of construction, has a carrier design for the tube bundle having side plates (9) running parallel to the tube bundle and one or more supporting plates (8) disposed perpendicularly to the tube bundle. In the center of the bundle between the cold and the hot leg, a partition (11) extends along the entire length of the bundle leg. Arranged on either side of the partition (11) are suction tubes (12) through which non-condensable gases are drawn off in the zones of lowest pressure. According to the invention, the supporting plates (8) are each made of a single piece and are thus continuous, and the partition (11) consists of individual sheet-metal parts which are connected to the supporting plates (8).

  • Patent number: 5977568
Abstract: The present invention discloses a power semiconductor component 1 having a special pressure contact system which is suitable, for example, for circuit-breakers, rectifiers, or the like in industrial drives. A pressure-equalizing element 9 in the form of a box 10, 15 with a flowable or plastically deformable medium 12 is inserted between a pressure plunger 7a and a power semiconductor 2. Because of the hydrostatic pressure in the box 10, an inhomogeneous pressure delivered at one side is passed on to the other side as a homogeneous pressure. A homogeneous pressure delivery can be achieved, even in the edge region of the pressure surfaces 11a, 11b, by means of an inlet camber of the lateral surface 13. The box 10, 15 preferably consists of copper or AlSiC, and the medium 12 of a liquid metal (Ga, Hg), a plastic metal (Pb, Al) or of metal balls (Cu) in silicone oil.

  • Patent number: 5944483
Abstract: A method for wet cleaning of the nozzle rings of exhaust-gas turbocharger turbines is based on thermal shock of the contaminants, and includes the steps of injecting water in repeated, relatively small amounts, into the exhaust duct immediately upstream of the nozzle ring. A delay between injections allows the nozzle ring to reheat to operating temperature so that each water injection causes a thermal shock. An apparatus to perform the method includes water injection nozzles installed in the exhaust gas casing and a control system. The method and apparatus provide improved cleaning using less water than in known methods.
