  • Patent number: 6079222
Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide a method for preparing deep-frozen liquid gas for the purpose of recovering process energy for a downstream process, with which the refrigerating capacity of the deep-frozen liquid gas can also be used in the downstream process. According to the invention, this is achieved by the fact that the refrigerating capacity of the deep-frozen liquid gas (1) is fed as a heat sink to at least one of the part-steps of the downstream process via at least one heat-exchange medium (28, 54, 79) and, if said heat-exchange medium (28, 54, 79) is not available, the deep-frozen liquid gas (1) is regasified with an additional heat-exchange medium (32).

  • Patent number: 6078065
Abstract: A specification is given of a bidirectionally controllable thyristor which is distinguished by improved decoupling between the two thyristor structures. In particular, the intention is that the switched-off structure cannot be triggered in an uncontrolled manner by undesirable migration of charge carriers. This is achieved by virtue of the fact that the degree of shorting of the cathode region increases toward the isolation region. In particular, this can be achieved by virtue of the fact that the density per unit area of the short-circuit regions tends to a maximum value toward the isolation region. The use of a linear, continuous short-circuit region running along the isolation region is particularly favorable. (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 6072200
Abstract: In a gate unit (47) for a hard-driven GTO (10), at least some of the electronic components (37, . . , 42) needed for driving are arranged on a printed circuit board (34). • Patent number: 6069779
Abstract: A method is specified for operating a multiphase line which is included in a transmission network and can be disconnected if faults occur, for the transmission of electrical power. The method comprises the following method steps: a) detecting upstream and downstream of the line, data which characterize the operating status of the transmission network, b) processing the detected data in order to identify a fault, c) switching off at least one faulty phase of the line on the basis of the identified fault, and d) activating a balancing compensator which feeds compensation currents into the transmission network such that the currents flowing in the transmission networks form a balanced system. This method has the major advantage that, now, even lines subject to faults can be used for the transmission of electrical power.

  • Patent number: 6062017
Abstract: A steam generator for a combined gas/steam power station plant has a gas-turbine circuit and a steam-turbine circuit, the exhaust gases of a gas turbine (4) giving off their residual heat to a steam turbine via the working medium flowing in a multi-pressure steam generator, each pressure system of the steam generator essentially comprising an economizer (21), an evaporator (22) and a superheater (23). To control the steam temperatures, a steam/steam heat exchanger (58), which can be shut off, is arranged in such a way that heat can be transferred from the hotter vaporous medium to a colder vaporous medium. To this end, the heat exchanger (58) is connected in the region of the respective superheaters (23, 19) between the high-pressure system as hotter heat-exchange area and the low-pressure system as colder heat-exchange area.

  • Patent number: 6056806
Abstract: An apparatus for the heating-up and degassing of make-up water by means of steam in a power station plant. The apparatus includes a steam condenser having a casing wall and a second casing wall mounted on the steam condenser. The casing walls are spaced apart and form a mixing chamber and a separation column, with the mixing chamber being located above the separation column. The mixing chamber includes a means for spraying oxygen-rich make-up water. A receiver is positioned to collect water from the separation column and includes a water outlet opening in fluid communication with an interior of the steam condenser. The steam condenser casing wall has a steam-inlet opening located between the receiver and the separation column through which steam flows into and through the separation column and into the mixing chamber due to a lower pressure prevailing in the first stage mixing chamber relative to a pressure in an interior of the condenser.
