  • Patent number: 5258418
Abstract: The present invention relates to low density, water-blown, rigid foams with good physical properties made with blends of toluenediamine (TDA)/glycerine initiated polyols. The foams made using these blends exhibit no initial surface friability. Further, it was found that specific blends of lower hydroxyl number polyols could be used, thereby reducing isocyanate consumption without affecting the physical properties of the foam.

  • Patent number: 5257749
Abstract: Abstract of the Disclosure: A flangeless stackable hub, on which compressing of the inner central bore is to be prevented during the winding up of an information medium in tape form under high winding pressure. According to one embodiment, this is achieved by an outer hub ring having a double-T profile being provided alongside the outer winding area and by there also being elastically deformable annular intermediate elements between outer hub ring and inner hub ring. In the case of another embodiment, variously shaped openings or notches, which are distributed evenly over the entire circumference, are provided on both sides of the hub between outer circumference and inner circumference. In addition, the hub contains alongside its inner circumference on both sides axial deformations, in order to avoid a shifting or twisting when hubs are stacked one on top of the other (FIG. 2, FIG. 4).

  • Patent number: 5258473
Abstract: Finely divided, water-soluble polymers are prepared by polymerization of water-soluble, monoethylenically unsaturated monomers in not less than 20% strength by weight aqueous solution in the presence of a polymerization initiator in a kneader by a process in which from 0.1 to 10% by weight, based on the total monomers, of a surfactant are used in the polymerization, the polymerization initially being carried out to a conversion of the monomers of not less than 60% in the absence of the surfactant or in the presence of not more than 50% of the amount of surfactant, and the remaining amount of surfactant then being added to the reaction mixture and the polymerization completed. The addition of surfactant causes the polymer gel to disintegrate with formation of fine particles.
