Abstract: A recyclable bumper system based on polypropylene comprises a bumper support A of glass fiber reinforced polypropylene, an energy-absorbing foam core B of foamed polypropylene and a tough shell C of EP-rubber modified polypropylene which may be coated, and can be recycled by mechanical comminution, extrusion and granulation, resulting in granules from which injection moldings having good mechanical properties can be produced.
Abstract: High molecular weight polyaryletherketones are prepared by nucleophilic polycondensation of a bisphenol with a mixture of a difluoroaromatic and a dichloroaromatic by a process in which, in a first stage, the total amount of bisphenol and dichloroaromatic is added and, in a second stage, the difluoroaromatic is added. The resulting polyaryletherketones have a reduced viscosity of not less than 0.65 and contain from 0.003 to 0.03% by weight of organically bonded chlorine and from 0.003 to 0.03% by weight of organically bonded fluorine.

Abstract: The preparation of copolymers which form clear aqueous solutions fromA) 45 to 90% by weight N-vinylpyrrolidone,B) 10 to 55% by weight of a vinyl ester andC) 0 to 10% by weight of other copolymerizable monomersby radical polymerization in an organic solvent in the presence of a radical initiator, and removal of the organic solvent and other volatiles by distillation, entails allowing the polymerization to proceed until the N-vinylpyrrolidone content in the reaction mixture is from 5 to 1% by weight of the N-vinylpyrrolidone amount employed, substantially removing the organic solvent and other volatiles by distillation, adding water to the mixture, again adding a radical initiator and leaving the aqueous solution at from 50.degree. to 100.degree. C. for from 1 to 10 hours, and then removing volatile organic constituents virtually completely by a steam distillation.

The novel polymers can be particularly advantageously used for the production of ultrathin layers by the LB technique, optically transparent films having high optical anisotropy and a high volume concentration of phthalocyanine radicals being formed.
