Abstract: The heat-hardenable binder mixture based on organic resins comprises an organic resin having primary and/or secondary and, if appropriate, also additional tertiary amino groups and a cross-linking agent based on an organic compound containing at least 2 carbalkoxymethyl groups. The binder mixture can additionally contain pigments, fillers, cross-linking catalysts, corrosion inhibitors and further finish auxiliaries. The binder mixture is used in a process for preparing coatings by applying a coating agent in the form of a film to a substrate and subsequently hardening the film by baking.

Abstract: A process for the preparation of 1,3-disubstituted 4,5-cis-dicarboxy-2-imidazolidones useful as intermediates in the preparation of Vitamin H (biotin), said intermediates have the general formula ##STR1## in which R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, an aralkyl radical or an aromatic hydrocarbon radical, preferably an allyl radical or a benzyl radical, comprising reacting a defined diaminosuccinic acid with phosgene in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide.
Abstract: An improved and substantially contamination free electro-immersion finish is provided on an electrically conductive substrate such as a motor vehicle body. An immersion tank holds an aqueous liquid containing an electrophoretically precipitable resin. The substrate to be coated is immersed in the liquid and transported through the tank. The bath liquid in the lower region of the tank is circulated parallel to the direction of transport of the substrate. The bath liquid in the upper region is circulated opposite to the direction of transport of the substrate. The bath liquid may be recirculated by removing the liquid from the tank at the end of the tank where the substrate is removed from the tank. The bath liquid may be purified by filter units prior to being returned to the tank. A separator, such as a cyclone separator, may be disposed in the liquid recirculation conduit ahead of the filtration units.

Abstract: Noble metal catalyst, in particular platinum catalysts, which are applied on carriers and have become poisoned by metals as a result of being used for many years in the preparation of hydroxyl-ammonium salts by catalytic reduction of nitric oxide with hydrogen in an aqueous mineral acid are regenerated by a process in which the metallic impurities are dissolved using nitric acid or aqua regia, the solution is neutralized, the troublesome metals are precipitated from the neutralized solution by means of a selective precipitating reagent, and the purified platinum solution is reused for the preparation of the catalyst. Organic complexing agents which form insoluble or sparingly soluble complexes with the metallic impurities are preferably used as precipitating reagents.

Abstract: A phthalic anhydride product having a particle configuration made up of a mixture of spheroids, needle-like crystals, and amorphous particles is produced by feeding molten phthalic anhydride at a temperature between 131.degree. and 155.degree. into a spray nozzle in a closed cycle congealing chamber. The molten phthalic anhydride is discharged from the spray nozzle into a co-current or counter-current flow of inert gas at a temperature between -10.degree. and 70.degree. C., in order to congeal the product, which is then removed and transferred to a hopper or other storage means. For nozzle orifices having a diameter from 1 to 4 mm, discharge pressures of between 10 and 300 pounds per square inch are employed.
