Abstract: This invention relates to polymer dispersions prepared by the in situ polymerization of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer or mixture of monomers in a chain extender in the presence of a free radical polymerization initiator and a polyamide stabilizer. The invention also relates to mixtures of the polymer dispersions with compounds having two or more active hydrogen atoms as determined by the Zerewittinoff method. These mixtures are used to prepare polyurethane products.
Abstract: An aqueous solution of a resin glue comprising formaldehyde, urea, melamine and phenol is obtained when phenol, formaldehyde and not more than 0.35 mole of an alkali metal bisulfite per mole of phenol are reacted to give a phenol-formaldehyde condensate, formaldehyde and urea in a molar ratio of not more than 2.5 are reacted to give a urea-formaldehyde condensate, and the reaction products are in turn reacted with melamine and formaldehyde.

Abstract: White graft polymer dispersions in polyoxyalkylene polyether polyols are employed together with flame retardant compounds to prepare flame retardant polyurethane foams. The polymer dispersions employ less than 0.1 mole of induced unsaturation per mole of polyol mixture. Improved processes for the preparation of these polymer dispersions employ either maleate or fumarate derived polyetherester polyols or polyetherester polyols prepared by reacting a polyoxyalkylene polyether polyol with a compound selected from the group consisting of maleic acid, maleic anhydride and fumaric acid and an alkylene oxide in the presence of salts and oxides of divalent metals.

Abstract: Easily dispersible alkali blue pigments with high color strength are obtained if the pigment is precipitated in the presence of (1) primary, secondary or tertiary aliphatic amines, (2) N-alkylamino alkanic acid, (3) a diaryl or triarylamine, (4) an acid or neutral aliphatic ester of phosphoric acid, (5) a half ester of sulfuric acid based on fatty alcohol, fatty alcohol-EO adducts or alkyl phenol-EO adducts, (6) an alkane or alkene sulfonic acid on a dialkylsulfimide, (7) EO adducts based on alkylphenols, alkanols or alkylamines, (8) polypropylene glycol or PO/EO block copolymers based on alkane diols or alkane polyols or in the presence of mixtures of these compounds or is mixed with at least one of the substances listed under (1) to (8) after the precipitation with acid in the acid suspension and is isolated.Alkali blue pigments are obtained which are easily dispersible in offset printing ink varnishes and which result in excellent color strength of the printed matter.
Abstract: Relief images or resist images are produced by a positive-working process, using a solid photosensitive resist layer which is applied to a base and contains a compound possessing two or more aromatic and/or heteroaromatic o-nitrocarbinol ester groups and crosslinking compounds possessing two or more reactive groups which are capable, under the action of heat, of reacting with carboxyl groups to form a covalent chemical bond. To produce the relief images or resist images, the photosensitive resist layer is first exposed imagewise to actinic light, the exposed areas of this layer are then washed out with an aqueous developer, the remaining resist layer is post-exposed uniformly to actinic light and finally the post-exposed resist layer is thermally crosslinked and hardened.
Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a nitrogen-containing crystalline metal silicate having a zeolite structure from silicon dioxide and a metal oxide and/or metal hydroxide, wherein the crystallization is carried out in the absence of an alkali metal in an aqueous solution of hexamethylenediamine, preferably under the autogeneous pressure of the solution at from 100.degree. to 200.degree. C. The zeolites are preferably used as catalysts for the reaction of methanol and/or dimethyl ether to give unsaturated hydrocarbons, the oligomerization of olefins, the alkylation of aromatics, and other conversions of hydrocarbons.

Abstract: A guide device for tape-like recording media, especially a reversing guide device for magnetic tapes, that are transported at high speed, which comprises at least one guide roll, around whose periphery the recording medium is guided, and which is rotatably mounted in bearings, a deliberate specific braking torque being produced between the guide roll and its bearings. Further embodiments concern the roughness of the roll's peripheral surface, the design of flanges for the lateral guidance of the recording medium and the use of two guide rolls. The braking torque is produced by braking means acting on the guide roll. The novel guide device can be used advantageously in any high-speed magnetic tape transport apparatus for the recording/reproduction of any type of audio, video or data signal.
