Abstract: A wood preservative comprises a mixture ofA. N-cyclohexyl-N-methoxy-2,5-dimethyl-furan-3-carboxamide andB. tris-(N-cyclohexyl-diazeniumdioxy)-aluminum.A process for treating wood with this mixture is also described.
Abstract: Stable water glass solutions are obtained(A) by mixing a solution of an aqueous alkali silicate solution and alkali hydroxide with a tertiary amine and subsequently oxyalkylating the resultant two-phase reaction mixture with at least one alkylene oxide in such an amount that a uniform solution forms or(B) by oxyalkylating a tertiary amine with at least one alkylene oxide and mixing the resultant reaction mixture with a solution of an aqueous alkali silicate solution and alkali hydroxide. The stable water glass solutions are suitable for the preparation of organo silicate foams. For the preparation of the organo silicate foams, a mixture of the stable water glass solutions and tertiary amino group-containing polyether polyols is reacted with organic polyisocyanates in the presence of catalysts, blowing agents and optionally auxiliaries and additives.

Abstract: A melt of synthetic material is forced through orifices of a die plate, and the resulting strands of melt are led into a trough, where they travel in counter-current to a stream of cooling water. At the end of the trough, the strands are discharged, for further processing. The bottom of the trough merges into a vertical pipe and the melt strands are led into this pipe and out again, in a variable loop, in order to obtain the desired length of cooling path.

Abstract: Plastisols useful for automobile undercoatings, anti-noise compositions, adhesives, sealing compositions and coatings for untreated, pretreated, phosphated, primed and prelacquered metal bases are improved by the addition of coke dust and coal dust fillers. The carbon dust fillers have a particle size of about 0.5 to 1000 microns and they are used in a concentration of about 9 to 90% by weight based on the total weight of plastisol and carbon dust. The carbon dust filled plastisols have a specific gravity of about 1.1 to 1.3.
