  • Patent number: 9906102
Abstract: It is common in electric machines to use the housing as a heat sink to remove energy from the electric machine. In some applications, however, the housing receives energy from a hot element. For example, in an electronically controlled turbocharger, the very hot turbine housing radiates and conducts energy to the electric machine housing exacerbating the heating within the electric machine. To reduce the heat transfer into the electric machine, a gap is provided between the stator and the housing outside the stator. In one alternative, the gap is filled with an insulating material. In another embodiment, the gap is an air gap with the stator located within the housing by circumferential rings or axial rods in corresponding grooves. In yet another embodiment, coolant is provided to the gap at the top and drained away at the bottom under the action of gravity.

  • Patent number: 9897226
Abstract: A control valve in which a PWM (pulse width modulated) control pressure signal acts on a membrane to which a control rod is connected tends to wear, and the device to which the control rod is attached likewise tends to wear, due to the transmission of undesired PWM control pressure pulsations. A third chamber is provided in the control valve housing. Control pressure pulsations enter the third chamber via a pressure medium connection. By providing at least one throttle aperture in a partition wall between the third chamber and the membrane acted upon by the pressure medium, it is possible to attenuate the pressure waves, thereby damping the vibration of the control rod, thus avoiding wear.

  • Publication number: 20180017024
Abstract: The invention relates to a heat exchanger for an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system, comprising a tube bundle of flat tubes, configured by combining two plates incorporating specific protrusions distributed according to the direction of the tube. These protrusions in both plates are in contact with one another or attached such that they establish internal channels. The present invention is characterized by the presence of either transverse projections or of transverse deviations generating disturbances in the flow through side walls of the internal channels, increasing the turbulence of the flow through said channels and thereby increasing heat exchange by convection.
