Abstract: The Optical line terminal (OLT) tracks the number of data packets, bandwidth per user, and other data packet statistics. DDR (DRAM) is used to store the information tracked by the OLT. The DDR is accessed in a burst mode. In particular, the data is initially stored in an on-chip cache memory and then the data is sent periodically to the DDR in a burst mode. Leaky buckets can be used for each flow, and time stamps can be used to determine the last time the bucket was accessed.

  • Publication number: 20140359268
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and apparatus for changing a security key on a computer chip that has a CPU, a first OTPROM (OTPROM1) storing a root key of the chip or derivative thereof (RKPUB1), and a second OTPROM (OTPROM2) on which the chip manufacturer stores nothing. A ROM of the chip stores a first software program (SW1). A device manufacturer can take that chip and interface it to a mass memory of a memory block of an electronic device, then execute a second software program (SW2) that is stored on the mass memory only if SW2 is authenticated by SW1 using the RKPUB1. Then a new root key of the chip or derivative thereof (RKPUB2) is provided (via SW2 or a USB connection for example) which is stored to the OTPROM2 via a security service portion of SW1. Thereafter RKPUB2 can be used to authenticate SW2.

  • Publication number: 20140357293
Abstract: A monitoring device may monitor its proximity to a monitored station. The monitored station may transmit a proximity indicator to the monitoring device. For example, the proximity indicator may include the received signal strength of a signal sent by the monitored station. Wireless interface control circuitry at the monitoring device may monitor the status of the proximity indicator for changes. If one or more criteria set by an application processor are met by a detected change, the wireless interface control circuitry may send a status update to the application processor. In the criteria are not met, generation of the status update may be forgone. The application processor need not monitor the proximity indicator status and may remain in a reduced power consumption mode for longer periods.

  • Publication number: 20140354335
Abstract: A PLL includes independent frequency-locking and phase-locking operational modes. In addition, the PLL includes a hybrid (e.g., mixed-analog/digital signal) 2nd-order delta-sigma (DS) phase/frequency detector. The detector may be implemented based on a continuous-time 1st-order DS Analog to Digital (ADC) converter. The ADC may be enhanced to 2nd-order by using, e.g., closed loop frequency detection. The PLL includes a fine resolution encoder for encoding the DS ADC output. The fine resolution encoding facilitates true multi-bit phase/frequency error digitization with drastically reduced DS quantization noise.

  • Publication number: 20140355703
Abstract: A multi-structured codebook includes a wideband codebook portion C(W1) and a frequency-selective codebook portion C(W2). The wideband portion C(W1) is characterized by a shifted set of indices for at least rank 1 such that the set of indices centers different groups of neighboring beams around a center beam in front of an antenna array. In one example, for rank 1 the indices run 24, 25, . . . 31, 0, 1, . . . 7. The frequency-selective portion C(W2) is characterized by having a non-equal number of entries for beams in a corresponding W1 codeword from the wideband codebook portion C(W1). In the examples some W1 codewords have corresponding W2 codewords with multiple same-beams and one or more different beams per polarization. A codeword W2 is selected from the frequency-selective codebook portion C(W2) and another codeword W1 is selected from the wideband codebook portion C(W1) for signaling channel conditions.

  • Publication number: 20140357224
Abstract: A wireless communication device communicating with a serving base station in a wireless communication environment may have one or more applications running. When seeking to handover from the serving base station to a target base station, the wireless communication device adjusts the configurations of the applications based on the new communication link properties. Likewise, when an application is loaded that prefers communication link properties that exceeds a current communication link's capabilities, the wireless communication device may seek out and hand over to other communication links. By cooperatively coordinating the functionality of installed applications with communication link properties, the wireless communication device can maintain high levels of device and application functionality.

  • Publication number: 20140355527
Abstract: A system and method of creating more than one communication interface between a wireless device using a single, dual-radio transceiver by leveraging the basic service set (BSS) and radio measurement information. A wireless device operating in multiple-in, multiple-put (MIMO) mode maintains a first communications interface with an access point while establishing a second communications interface by downgrading the existing MIMO connection to a single-in, single-out (SISO) connection. The downgrading of the MIMO connection to a SISO connection frees up a radio signal processing chain to establish a second communications interface utilizing the BSS and radio measurement information from the first communications interface.

  • Publication number: 20140355524
Abstract: There is provided a sensor network information collection mechanism in which, after a UE has decided to become part of an information collecting operation for collecting information from a local sensor network, a signaling transmitted from a managing node of a local sensor network is received and processed. A communication network control element is informed about the willingness to become an information collector by sending a report message comprising measurement results derived from the signaling received from the managing node of the local sensor network. When receiving a gateway allocation message indicating that the UE is determined to be a gateway element to the local sensor network, the information collecting operation is started wherein sensor nodes of the local sensor network are woke up, and a traffic flow direction in the local sensor network is set in accordance with the managing node identity to which the UE is accessed.

  • Publication number: 20140355522
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing dynamic substream definition and handover are provided. In embodiments, a user device includes a multiple radio access technology (RAT) communications modules and a communication controller. Each RAT communication module is further configured to communicate using a different RAT. The user device identifies available networks for communication. Then, the controller determines whether a need to split a communications stream exists (e.g., the user device is engaged in a bandwidth intensive application). If the communications stream is to be split, the controller defines the substreams (either equally or unequally) and assigns a first substream to a communication pathway in a first available network and assigns a second substream to a communication pathway in a second available network. The destination then recombines the substreams. In embodiments, the controller inserts synchronization in the substreams.

  • Patent number: 8901970
Abstract: An inverter circuit includes an input stage and an output stage, each including pairs of complementary transistors having low-voltage oxides. The transistors within the input stage are configured to receive the input signal and to provide control voltages in response to input signal voltage variations. The voltage level of one control voltage is clamped between an intermediate voltage and a high voltage, and the voltage level of the other control voltage is clamped between the intermediate voltage and a low voltage. The switching states of each complementary transistor in the output stage are controlled by the control voltages, which results in an output signal voltage varying between the high and the low voltage. The voltage clamping advantageously allows the inverter circuit to switch between the high and the low voltage level without exceeding a maximum gate-source or a gate-drain voltage rating for any transistor, and without requiring additional passive components.
