Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for converting an interlaced video to a slower video rate. A method for video rate conversion may include receiving an input interlaced video having a field rate, and deinterlacing the input interlaced video at the field rate to produce a first sequence of frames corresponding to a first frame rate. The method may also include dropping frames from the first sequence of frames to produce a second sequence of frames corresponding to a second frame rate, wherein the second frame rate is slower than the first frame rate. If a progressive video output is desired, then the second sequence of frames may be used for the progressive video output. If an interlaced video output is desired, then the second sequence of frames may be interlaced into a sequence of fields corresponding to a field rate slower than the field rate of the input interlaced video.

Abstract: Embodiments include, but are not limited to, systems and methods for enabling Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) in the upstream in an Ethernet Passive Optical Network over Coax (EPoC) network. Embodiments include systems and methods for translating Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) upstream time grants to OFDMA resources represented by individual subcarriers of an upstream OFDMA frame. In an embodiment, the translation of EPON upstream time grants to OFDMA resources ensures that Coaxial Network Units (CNUs) sharing an OFDMA frame do not use overlapping subcarriers within the frame. Embodiments further include systems and methods for timing upstream transmissions by the CNUs in order for the transmissions to be received within the same upstream OFDMA frame at a Fiber Coax Unit (FCU). Embodiments further include systems and methods for re-generating a data burst from OFDMA resources for transmission from the FCU to an Optical Line Terminal (OLT).

  • Patent number: 8675592
Abstract: Embodiments include a method for physical layer transmission in a network equipment including receiving, from a higher layer, messages to be transmitted during a subframe on one or more control channels. The number of elements required (i.e. aggregation level) for each control channel is determined. A plurality of physical resource blocks (PRBs) for transmitting the control channels and partitioning the PRBs into clusters is allocated. The interleaving depth (IDP) for each cluster is determined. Each element is mapped to a cluster according to the IDP for that cluster. A transmission signal including the clusters is generated.

  • Patent number: 8675761
Abstract: Methods and apparatus of allocating antennas for cyclic delay diversity (CDD) transmission are disclosed. One method includes estimating a transmission channel of a transceiver having a plurality of antennas. • Patent number: 8675760
Abstract: A mobile device receives beams orthogonal to a single user downlink MIMO channel associated with a selected first user in a user group. The mobile device estimates relative channel direction information with respect to the received beams for an associated single user downlink MIMO channel. The estimated relative channel direction information is hybrid-quantized to generate a semi-orthogonal matrix transmitted to the base station over a finite-rate feedback link. The mobile device receives downlink data transmission according to the hybrid-quantized relative channel direction information. The base station receives multiple semi-orthogonal matrices from remaining mobile devices to generate a semi-orthogonal group for the selected first user. A mobile device having the strongest quantized projected channel capacity is selected from the generated semi-orthogonal group as a second user.

  • Patent number: 8677459
Abstract: Embodiments enable secure zero-touch remote provisioning/management of a computer system. A computer system is shipped to end customers with its remote management controller enabled but not provisioned. During automatic testing, for example, provisioning authentication data is embedded into the remote management controller. The computer system vendor harvests the provisioning authentication data or derivative data therefrom from the remote management controller and stores it in a database. Upon sale of the computer system, the computer system vendor provides to the end-customer the harvested data of the computer system's remote management controller. The end-customer can then remotely authenticate a remote provisioning/management console to the remote management controller.

  • Patent number: 8676213
Abstract: A user equipment UE reports its mobility state in signaling for establishing, re-establishing, or re-configuring a radio connection between the UE and a network access node. In one embodiment the reported mobility state is selected from among normal; medium and high. In another embodiment the reported mobility state informs of a number of cell changes the UE has performed within a predetermined evaluation period. The UE may also include an indication whether a hysteresis period for entering into a normal mobility state is running for the UE. The network configures the UE in dependence on the reported mobility state, such as setting a parameter for measuring or reporting neighbor cells (e.g., suspend a serving cell quality threshold as a condition for measuring/reporting; limit inter-frequency and/or inter-radio access technology reporting; set a shortest measurement, reporting gap; disable an event trigger; and/or set layer 3 filtering of measurement results for faster reporting).
