  • Patent number: 7877071
Abstract: Apparatus and method to provide unified STTD/CLTD dedicated pilot processing in a wireless receiver. The technique allows different set of parameters to be introduced to a same processing module to process STTD and CLTD diversity signals to recover a pilot signal. Introducing another set of parameters to the processing module also allows processing of a non-diversity signal to recover a pilot. The unified processing of STTD/CLTD signals is achieved by converting STTD/CLTD pilot bits as Hadamard-like bits and processing these bits along with orthogonal pilot bits which are encoded as Hadamard encoded bits.

  • Publication number: 20110012608
Abstract: A system and method for enhanced accuracy in cable diagnostics of cable length. Conventional cable diagnostics such as time domain reflectometry can be used to determine cable length. This conventional technique can have accuracy limitations in certain situation such as with perfectly terminated cable. A cable length can also be determined through the use of link delay measurements that are based on clock synchronization between nodes in a network. Notwithstanding the accuracy issues of these link delay measurements, overall accuracy can be increased through the combination of the two cable length delay measurements into a final estimate.

  • Publication number: 20110012692
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate generally to reconstruction filtering. In particular, embodiments enable highly linear, highly programmable, and easily reconfigurable reconstruction filters. Further, embodiments provide substantial power consumption, area, and cost savings compared to conventional solutions. For example, embodiments use all-passive filtering and substantially reduce active elements compared to conventional solutions. As a result, significant reductions in required area, noise, and power consumption can be achieved. In addition, embodiments perform filtering solely in the current domain, thereby eliminating the non-linear voltage-to-current conversion used in conventional circuits and enabling highly linear filtering. Furthermore, embodiments are highly programmable and easily reconfigurable without the use of tunable capacitors. As such, embodiments are very suitable solutions for multi-band multi-mode wireless transmitters.

  • Publication number: 20110013616
Abstract: Management frame map directed operational parameters within multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. A management frame map may be generated within and transmitted from a first wireless communication device to a number of other wireless communication devices. Thereafter, certain subsequently transmitted packets may be analyzed and processed by the receiving wireless communication devices based on that earlier received management frame map. One or more operational parameters are determined for a subsequently transmitted packet based on the previously received management frame map; such operational parameters then govern the manner in which at least a portion of the subsequently transmitted packet is processed.

  • Patent number: 7873332
Abstract: Methods and systems for mitigating a voltage standing wave ratio in a transmitter are disclosed and may comprise calibrating an output power of a power amplifier integrated within a chip using a resistor that models an impedance of an antenna that is externally coupled to the amplifier while the antenna is decoupled. The gain and output power of the amplifier may be determined utilizing the known resistance and a voltage that is measured at an input of the power amplifier, or at a number of points prior to the power amplifier. When the antenna may be coupled to the transmitter, the transmitter output power may then be controlled utilizing the voltage measurements prior to the power amplifier to avoid measuring reflected waves in instances when the antenna impedance may vary. The power amplifier may be of a design that comprises reverse isolation to reduce reflected waves from the antenna.

  • Patent number: 7873110
Abstract: An interrupt sensitive extract byte instruction scheme is presented herein. The interrupt sensitive extract by instruction extracts bytes from data, depending on the presence of an interrupt. The extract byte instruction extracts bytes from data in the absence of the interrupt and does not extract bytes in the presence of the interrupt. The interrupt can be triggered by a set of counters that count the number of extracted bytes. By loading the counters with a particular number, the interrupt can be generated when the particular number of data bytes is extracted.
