Patent number: 4936197Abstract: In a preferred embodiment of hydraulic actuator wherein a piston rod is longitudinally positionable via a tail end of a cylinder, tail-end static and dynamic seal members are of plastic, of relatively elongate trapezoidal section, and a single metal spring axially preloads the two seal members in compression, via the series-related respective ends of the seal members. Engagement with the ends of each seal member are frusto-conical, to substantially match the sloped ends of the trapezoidal section, and the slope directions of these seal-member engagements are (in the case of the dynamic seal) such as to locally impart radially inwardly directed force, to drive outer ends of the seal into circumferentially uniform engagement with the piston rod of the actuator; in the case of the static seal the slope directions of seal-member engagements are such as to impart radially outwardly directed force, to drive outer ends of the static seal into similar engagement with the bore of the cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1989Date of Patent: June 26, 1990Assignee: C. Patent number: 4923047Abstract: A motor-driven machine with variable torque setting includes a motor, a planetary gearing driving a work spindle and a rotatably mounted internal gear actuating a motor de-energizer against the action of a spring force when a settable limit torque is exceeded. To achieve a compact design, a torsion spring element extending in the axial direction alongside the planetary gearing is provided for generating the spring force. The torsion spring element carries a swivel element at one end which engages a cam on the internal gear and is held at an opposite end in a support so that the swivel element can swivel out of an initial position against the action of the force of the torsion spring element to de-energize the motor.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1988Date of Patent: May 8, 1990Assignee: C. & E. Patent number: 4920702Abstract: Grinding with known grinders such as corner, belt or vibratory grinders poses insoluble problems, such as the grinding of inner edges set at an angle to each other for example in retainer strips of window and door glasses. A portable grinder has thus been developed in which the grinding or sanding tool (3, 20, 30) effects an oscillatory movement which, unlike in the state of the art, is effected around a fixed axis of the apparatus (29) with a minimum pivoting angle, preferably between 0.5.degree. and with a high pivoting frequency of between ten thousand and twenty five thousand vibrations per minute. This different oscillation movement makes it possible to provide the grinding or sending tool with almost any shape. Furthermore, grinding does not inevitably have to be made with the transverse surface of the tool (3), in particular the perpendicular surface, in relation to the diametrical axis (29) but it is also possible to use a surface which is almost parallel to the first or is even arched.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1987Date of Patent: May 1, 1990Assignee: C. & E. Patent number: 4905420Abstract: In order to improve a grinder comprising a grinding tool which is oscillatingly driven through a small pivot angle about a pivot axis fixed on the grinder and which has a grinding surface with at least one corner region, with at least one suction channel extending throughout the grinding tool from an aspirating port to an exhaust port located on a side facing away from the grinding surface, so as to obtain an effective, reliable and, in particular, subsequently attachable dust exhaust system which is designed as simply as possible and does not impair handling of the grinder, it is suggested that the exhaust port be arranged outside of the corner region and that an exhaust hood which can be immovably fixed on the grinder be provided so as to cover the exhaust port in all pivoted positions and allow the corner region of the grinding tool to protrude in an uncovered manner.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1988Date of Patent: March 6, 1990Assignee: C. & E. Patent number: 4833426Abstract: A temperature-compensated piezoelectric oscillator of high-spectral purity, capable of being controlled in frequency, consists of a compensation circuit, a processing circuit, a phase-shifting circuit, containing the piezoelectric resonator, and an oscillating circuit. To obtain high spectral purity, it is proposed to use a low-pass filter, placed between the compensation circuit and one of the inputs of the processing circuits, to process the signal coming from the compensation circuit. This filter eliminates the influence of the temperature noise coming from the compensation circuit. The invention can be applied to controllable frequency, temperature compensated piezoelectric oscillators where high spectral purity is sought.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1988Date of Patent: May 23, 1989Assignee: Compagnie D'Electronique et De Piezo-Electricite C.E.P.E.Inventors: Gilles Robichon, Didier Parly
