  • Patent number: 5062214
Abstract: An absolute measuring scale system comprising a scale which extends along a measuring length, and a measuring head which is movable relative to the scale. The system further includes a fine-measurement sensor which is intended to measure the absolute values within each of a multiple of intervals lying sequentially along the scale, and a coarse-measurement sensor intended to measure the absolute values with regard to the interval within which the fine-measurement sensor is located at that moment. The invention is characterized in that the scale (2) comprises a carrier made of a transparent and form-stable material, preferably glass, which has provided on its surface an outer coating or layer which forms an opaque pattern (3, 4). The pattern formed along the length of the scale (2) forms transparent, mutually parallel binary code tracks (12), preferably in accordance with the so-called Grey-code.

  • Patent number: 5062743
Abstract: In a drilling device, a holder is provided that is displaceable with respect to a foot in a feed direction. A drilling machine tool is carried by the holder. An electromotor provides a feed drive for driving the holder in the feed direction. The drilling machine tool and/or the holder are displaceable relative to the feed drive in an opposite direction to the feed direction by overcoming a counterforce. A switching element monitors the relative displacement and enables a signal to be derived for stopping the feed drive if a predetermined value of counterforce is exceeded. Motor current is limited to a predetermined maximum value during operation of the device.

The standard attachment comprises a receiving threaded bolt and an attachment nut for securing a supplementary tool in a usual manner. The grinding machine includes a motor-driven hollow spindle, to which a counterflange is firmly connected. A bolt receiving the standard attachment at one end thereof and guided by a flange can be screwed into the hollow spindle. Spring elements are provided for pressing the bolt and thereby the flange against the counterflange of the hollow spindle, in order to secure the standard attachment to the grinding tool. The hollow spindle can be axially displaced by a manual actuating device between an assembly position, in which the adapter may be taken off or attached, and a secured position, in which the adapter is secured against rotation and against axial movement within the hollow spindle.

  • Patent number: 5032818
Abstract: An adjustable electric thermostat comprises a main housing in which an adjustment shaft is threadedly engaged so that the shaft end inside the housing is displaced when the shaft is turned, a heat transducer mounted on the shaft end, and a switch comprising a channel-shaped, rigid member having a base portion attached on a wall of the housing and opposite branches having notches to support a snap-action blade so that the temperature transducer abuts transversely against an intermediate point in the blade. According to the invention, the channel-shaped member is made of a bimetal plate having the most expansible metal on the outside, so that the branches of the channel-shaped member bend toward each other when the channel-shaped member is heated.

  • Patent number: 4982504
Abstract: A method for determining and correcting positional errors or deviations which occur when measuring the position of a point in space, or when positioning to a point which has a specific position in space, where the position refers to a specific coordinate system, such as a rectangular coordinate system. The method comprises making a comparison between a multiple of measured values and at least one reference, and determining a correction on the basis of this comparison, wherewith a positionable member, such as a contact probe, a tool holder or corresponding device (1, 13) is moved to a given position in space during the measuring or positioning process. The method is particularly characterized in that the reference consists of a geometry of known kind, and in that the measured values are correlated to a geometry of known kind, this correlation being used to calculate corrections for the coordinate axes of the system. There is also an apparatus for carrying out the method.

  • Patent number: 4946146
Abstract: In a holding device with a receiving part held on a holder by means of a linear and/or rotary guide means, in particular, for tools for industrial robots, wherein the motion of the receiving part relative to the holder can be damped by means of a restoring damping element which can be subjected to tensile and shear stresses, in order to provide by virtue of a simple arrangement both damping of the motion of the receiving part relative to the holder and a restoring force which ensures reliable maintenance of the middle position, it is proposed that the damping element be arranged so as to be structurally separate from the guide means for the linear and/or rotary motion and that deflection forces acting upon the damping element during motion of the receiving part relative to the holder be exerted essentially perpendicular to its direction of tension.

  • Patent number: RE33335
Abstract: A device for attaching a tool in portable angled grinders, allowing the connection to be released without special accessories. The device consists essentially of a hollow driveshaft, of a spindle that slides inside it, and of a tool-securing point consisting of a mating flange and nut. The nut is loosened by activating the displacing mechanism, which displaces the spindle toward the tool-securing point, lifting the nut, which is connected to the spindle by means of a threaded pin, off of the tool. The nut can then be screwed off by hand.
