  • Patent number: 4168400
Abstract: In a digital communication system in which the information is transmitted by successions of bits termed packets, stations may be called upon to perform the function of a relay between other stations. The stations which may be called upon to perform the function of a relay comprise: a checking device which merely checks the address code of a packet received; an eliminating and switching device which either destroys the packet (doubtful address code) or orients the packet toward receiving means pertaining to the station (address code identical to the code of the station) or toward the station corresponding to the address code by passing through a transit memory; and information producing means for producing packets within the station. The contents of the transit memory are transmitted in priority by the station.

  • Patent number: 4100386
Abstract: A ceramic or refractory product is placed in a sounding cavity close to but spaced from an opposing member and they are heated to a predetermined temperature to sinter or melt said product by subjecting them to the action of a hyperfrequential electromagnetic field. The opposing member is formed from a material having dielectric losses higher than those of said product in the temperature range below said predetermined temperature so that the intensity of the field will be increased locally in the immediate vicinity of the surface area of said product opposed to said member and that area will be exposed to thermic radiation from the opposing member and be protected by that member from thermic losses.

  • Patent number: 4065961
Abstract: This system relies upon certain visual indicating and recording instrumentation which connect with an internal combustion engine and sense and record engine variables, including starts and loads. Visual indicating of these instruments by the operator of a motor vehicle so equipped encourage operation thereof in an economical manner. The recorded indications, when compared with each other give FER, a number indicating (Fuel Efficiency Ratio) which is a unique measurement of fuel efficiency and a tool to simplify diagnosis and cure of those instances of low miles per gallon of fuel.

  • Patent number: 4063040
Abstract: For multiplexing 6 binary channels for example, two transcoders are respectively fed by the groups of input channels A, B, C and D, E, F in each of which is inserted a locking and identification word. Two three-channel frames in intermediate ternary form are thus obtained. Conversion into definitive ternary code (moment +, O, -) takes place at the same time as the interlacing, moment by moment, of the two three-channel frames. The demultiplexer groups the moments pertaining to one and the same three-channel frame for transcoding. The system allows high speed multiplexing.

  • Patent number: 4054638
Abstract: A process for the re-utilization of the sulphate residues from the electrolytic treatment of zinc. The residues are digested hot with concentrated HCl in the presence of CaCl.sub.2. PbCl.sub.2 crystallizes on cooling. FeCl.sub.3 is extracted with TBP circulating in the direction of a series of columns and FeCl.sub.3 is extracted in a first column, washed in a second column and re-extracted a third column. The solution which issues is treated with NH.sub.3, resulting in precipitation of the majority of the hydroxides of the metals contained therein, which are subsequently separated, while Ag, Zn and Cu are complexed. Ag is precipitated with (NH.sub.4).sub.2 S.NH.sub.3 is recovered by means of lime. CaCl.sub.2 is re-cycled to the start of the process and Cu and Zn are leached together with the mineral.Application of the process to the recovery of the metals contained in the residues from the digestion of blends.

  • Patent number: 4033818
Abstract: The invention provides a process for the preparation of a complete extract of pilewort roots, used in cosmetological compositions, which consists of first subjecting the dried and ground roots to an extraction with 35.degree.-45.degree. C petroleum ether and then treating the insoluble powder by extraction with an aqueous lower alcohol. After having removed the insoluble impurities by filtration, the filtrate is treated with papaine and is concentrated to a solids content of 40 to 50%. Aqueous alcohol is then added to the concentrated extract and the deposit thus formed is removed by decantation when cold, leaving the desired extract.

  • Patent number: 4019176
Abstract: A characteristic message exchange procedure is performed by a set of contler units at separate stations and of functionally identical design. The combination of a controller unit and a utilization unit that characterizes the application of the station constitutes a complete station. Among other things, the controller units provide sequencing of the transmitting privilege among the stations one by one. All message data are classified into four basic message models representing the applications of the stations. The stations are interconnected by a single common transmission channel and the controllers are equipped to be sensitive to only four basic message models. No central control unit is required for monitoring transmissions between stations. All active stations receive all messages essentially simultaneously.
