  • Patent number: 4345820
Abstract: The apparatus for the visual display of electrical signals recorded on a magnetic medium or support is in the form of a "magnifying glass" which is a plate or sheet of transparent material in which there is a dimple closed by a membrane. The volume of the dimple is filled by a mild ferrite dispersion in a liquid. • Patent number: 4312023
Abstract: A multilayer, ceramic dielectric power capacitor made of plural layers of thin films of dielectric material having a thickness between 20 and 200 microns and a dielectric strength which is greater than that of thick layers, but which reduces the volume of the capacitor. Formed on each dielectric thin film is a conductive foil having a thickness between 2 and 10 microns. The thickness of the dielectric films is quite thin to reduce the volume of the capacitor, while that of the foils is thick, as compared to the prior art, to facilitate removal of heat. An anti-corona groove is provided to protect the connections at the capacitor terminals. The capacitor is useful in high frequency generator applications.

  • Patent number: 4265725
Abstract: An apparatus for and method of making a connection between an electrical conductor and an anode so that the conductor is attached to the anode to supply electrical energy thereto for use in cathodic protection systems. The apparatus includes male and female members of electrical conducting material having cooperating frusto-conical surfaces and such members are received within a bore in an anode. Normally the male member is connected to the electrical conductor and is positioned at the bottom of the bore after which the female member is forced over the male member which causes the female member to expand into intimate engagement with the side walls of the bore. The method includes the steps of placing a male member having a frusto-conical outer surface into a bore of an anode and then forcing a female member having a cooperating frusto-conical inner surface onto the male member to cause the female member to expand into intimate engagement with the walls of the bore.

  • Patent number: 4223573
Abstract: An automotive transmission with three forward speeds and three reverse speeds is automatically upshifted or downshifted under the control of a speed sensor coacting with an output shaft of that transmission. The engine is automatically decelerated and accelerated during upshifting and downshifting, respectively, for a smooth transition from one speed ratio to the next. A changeover from forward driving to reverse, or vice versa, with the aid of a manual mode selector is possible only at relatively low shaft speeds. Another manual selector is settable to limit the operation of the system to one or two speed ratios in either the forward or the reverse mode.
