Abstract: A face image data processing device which processes data on a face image to create the face image suitable for an age and presumes the age of the created face image on the basis of same. In response to designation of data on an age by an age designating unit, respective part images corresponding to the designated age data are read from a storage. A face image composed of a combination of the read part images and suitable for the designated age data is created, and displayed or printed. The age of the created face image is presumed from the created face image by an age presumption section. The presumed age is displayed/printed along with the associated face image.
Abstract: A television telephone apparatus is coupled with a home-use large-screen TV receiver and a home-use telephone, and is connectable to another television telephone apparatus of a counter party via the home-use telephone and the public telephone network. The telephone television apparatus is equipped with a camera unit, so that both of an image produced by the camera unit, and an image transmitted from the television telephone apparatus of the counter party can be simultaneously displayed on the home-use large-screen TV receiver. While the handset of the home-use telephone is used to send/receive voice of operators, voice may be reproduced from the speaker of the home-use TV receiver. Both of an intermittent moving image having a standard image density and a still image having a relatively fine image density can be transmitted/received, so that the intermittent moving image and the still image can be simultaneously displayed on the screen of the home-use large-screen TV receiver.
Abstract: A thermometer is provided with a ROM, in which a program for controlling a CPU and plural predetermined emissivity data are memorized, and is further provided with a RAM having plural registers, in which plural emissivity data are entered and memorized. One of these memorized emissivity data is selected and used for measuring a temperature of an object. The selected emissivity data and an output of a temperature sensor are amplified by an amplifier, and are supplied to an A/D convertor to obtain digital data. The CPU processes the digital data to obtain temperature data, and displays the obtained temperature data. With this structure of the thermometer, emissivity data can be set with a simple operation.
Abstract: A driver is provided for driving a plane fluorescent panel as a backlight source in a small liquid crystal television receiver. The panel is driven with a pulse signal controlled such that a first edge of the pulse signal which is a rise or fall edge of the pulse signal is within a front porch of a horizontal blanking period of a video signal and that a second edge of the pulse signal which is a fall or rise edge of the pulse signal is within the width of a horizontal synchronous pulse to thereby drive the fluorescent panel efficiently to provide a stabilized light emission and render it difficult for noise in the fluorescent panel to enter the display of the television receiver. A small liquid crystal television receiver with a plane fluorescent panel driven so is also provided.
Abstract: Each of a plurality of segment drivers for driving a liquid crystal display panel used in an electronic device includes a display data memory corresponding to a display image plane. The display memory is supplied with an X address and Y address from an address register so that the data write area thereof can be specified. A control device of the electronic device outputs address data and display data to a connection bus when data is stored into the display memory, and the segment driver writes transfer data into an addressed area when it is determined that the write-in process is effected for the segment driver itself by decoding address data by use of a decoder. When data stored in the display memory is displayed, the Y address is automatically incremented in synchronism with a common signal by an increment circuit, and data of one line specified by the Y address is simultaneously read out from an output port of the display memory, converted into a segment signal via a latch circuit and output.
Abstract: A temperature detection circuit and two RAMs are connected to a conversion circuit for converting image data into voltage designation signals and outputting the signals to a signal electrode driver. The temperature detection circuit detects the temperature of a liquid crystal display element as one of conditions which influence the behavior of liquid crystal molecules. One RAM is used to store a conversion table in which voltage designation signals for designating effective voltage to be applied to a liquid crystal layer are preset for image data for each predetermined temperature range of the liquid crystal display element. The other RAM is used to store input image data. In the conversion table, the number of different voltage designation signals in a high-temperature range is set to be smaller than that of different voltage designation signals in a normal temperature range.
Abstract: In a wristwatch type distress message sending device worn by the user, a positional information generator receives GPS signals sent by a plurality of GPS satellites and generates positional information on the latitude and longitude of the position of the user. When the user meets a disaster, a distress message signal generator generates a distress message signal containing the positional information generated by the positional information generator. A sender then sends out the distress message signal by radio.
Abstract: An electronic device maintains data utilizing a ferroelectric memory, not requiring a backup power source voltage. Data such as schedule data and telephone number data is stored in a ferroelectric RAM which switches between a dynamic mode and a nonvolatile mode. When a clock mode is designated by a "CLK" key, a memory control circuit causes the ferroelectric RAM to be switched to the nonvolatile mode to maintain the data stored therein. When a schedule mode or a telephone mode is designated by means of a "Sch" key or a "Tel" key, the ferroelectric RAM is switched to the nonvolatile mode to write/read data therein/therefrom. When it is detected that a battery voltage is lowered or the battery is removed from the electronic device, the ferroelectric RAM is switched to the nonvolatile mode to protect the stored data.
Abstract: An electroluminescent panel is provided in a region of the rear surface side of the display panel, which corresponds to a display region, and the drive circuit for the display panel is located in the other region than the display region, on the surface side of the display panel. Further, the inverter serving as a drive circuit for the electroluminescent panel is provided in the region of the rear surface side of the display panel, other than the display region. With this structure, the downsizing and thinning of the display device are promoted.
Abstract: An antiferroelectric liquid crystal display device includes: an active matrix type LC cell and an antiferroelectric liquid crystal sealed in the cell. Liquid crystal molecules aligned to one of a first aligning direction and a second aligning direction are aligned in the other aligning direction in accordance with an applied voltage, thus forming a plurality of regions of different alignment states in a range shorter than a wavelength of light in a visible light band, and directions of said directors are changed in accordance with a ratio of regions in a first alignment state to regions in a second alignment state. The liquid crystal molecules may behave along a predetermined cone by a phase transition precursor in accordance with an applied voltage. The liquid crystal molecules may behave so as to be inclined in a direction perpendicular to an electric field, in accordance with an applied voltage.

Abstract: When a menu is displayed, a stored state of a document memory 5 which is capable of storing a plurality of document files is checked. When new document files are creatable in the document memory 5, an icon I, II or III having a different shape indicating a different creatable file count is displayed on the display. If no more new document files are creatable in the document memory, a document-uncreatable icon is displayed on the display.
