Abstract: An image display circuit supplies gray scale data according to a video signal to a liquid crystal panel to present a gray-scaled display and scans the liquid crystal panel N times during one field period of a video signal. The image display circuit includes a table ROM comparing a current video signal with a previous video signal of one frame before, and generates gray scale data for N times in accordance with the comparison result. Gray scale data greater than the gray scale of the current video signal is generated when the comparison result indicates that the gray scale of the current video signal is greater than that of the previous video signal, and gray scale data smaller than the gray scale of the current video signal is generated when the gray scale of the current video signal is found to be smaller than that of the previous video signal. Based on the generated gray scale data, the liquid crystal panel is driven with the proper gray scales.
Abstract: A system for confirming a position of a moving terminal in a radio communication network including a plurality of base stations each corresponding to one of a plurality of individual radio areas. A moving terminal having a specific identification number is provided which includes a receiver for receiving a paging signal including the specific identification number, and a transmitter for wirelessly outputting a response signal in response to the paging signal. A first data base is provided for storing position data representing positions within the plurality of individual radio areas to which a person holding the moving terminal may visit, and base station data representing respective ones of the base stations corresponding to the positions to which the person holding the moving terminal may visit. The position data and the base station data are stored in the first data base in an associated manner with respect to the identification number of the moving terminal.
Abstract: A cartridge detector detects information on the color of a label tape of a cartridge which is a printing medium on the basis of the shape of the cartridge. A controller determines the color of the label tape on the basis of detected information obtained from the cartridge detector. The controller controls a display through a display control unit and displays the background of a display screen in the same color as that of the label tape determined on the basis of the detected information obtained from the cartridge detector. A key-in unit inputs to the printer printing data (for example, character, illustration data, etc.) and their print color data. The controller controls the display through the display control unit to display in the print color specified by the key-in unit the printing data input from the key-in unit in the screen background having the same color as the label tape. The input printing data is printed on the label tape by a printing unit through the print control unit.

A metallic layer or a metallic ink layer, for giving a feeling of metallic gloss by receiving illumination of light emitted from the surface of the luminescent device, is disposed on at least a side of the upper surface and the lower surface of the luminescent device.
Abstract: An electronic calculating apparatus for use with an overhead projector and a projection screen includes an electronic calculator and a display device. The electronic calculator comprises a data input unit and a data sending unit. The electronic calculator performs an operation corresponding to data inputted from the data input unit, and displays a result of the performed operation. The display device comprises a liquid crystal display unit of a transparent type and a data receiving unit for receiving data sent from the sending unit of the electronic calculator. The display device is placed on the top of the overhead projector, and, upon receipt of the data sent from the data sending unit of the electronic calculator, the display device performs an operation that is substantially the same as the operation performed by the electronic calculator, and displays the result of the performed operation on the liquid crystal display unit of a transparent type.
Abstract: When data is keyed in by operating a keyboard K displayed in a touch panel input area 14a, its character code is stored in a real data memory 46b of a RAM 23 and data on its attribute, pointer and data length is stored as management data. When handwritten data is input by manipulating a handwriting board P displayed in the input area 14a, coordinate data corresponding to the locus of the input handwritten data is stored in the real data memory, and data on its attribute, pointer and data length is stored as management data. The keyed-in data including the character code and the handwritten data including image data are both displayed in an output area 14b on the basis of the real data and its management data. Data edition including data erasure can be dealt with in a unified manner.
Abstract: A carrier-injection type organic electroluminescent device includes, provided on a substrate, a transparent anode electrode, and a hole transport layer containing hole-transporting poly(N-vinylcarbazole) and 2,5-bis(1-naphthyl)-oxadiazole, and 3-(2'-benzothiazoyl)-7-diethylaminocoumarin as a fluorescent material which absorbs light within a predetermined wavelength range and emits light having a longer wavelength. Further included are an electron transport layer containing an electron-transporting tris(8-quinolinolate)aluminum complex, and a cathode electrode. When a voltage is applied between the anode and the cathode, the fluorescent material absorbs light emitted by the recombination of electrons and holes, and emits visible light.
Abstract: Printing on a tape is carried out using an ink ribbon having yellow, magenta, cyan and overprinting ink arranged thereon. First, the ink position of the ink ribbon is aligned with the print position of the tape, and one ink is transferred on the tape. This transfer is repeated for the yellow, magenta and cyan colors at the same print position to accomplish color printing. When color printing is completed, the position of the overprinting ink is aligned with the position of the tape, and the overprinting ink is overprinted on the color-printed area line by line. When the cut position of the tape reaches the position of a cutter, printing with the overprinting ink and feeding of the tape stop. In this state, the tape is cut. Then, the tape is cut when printing with the overprinting ink is carried out to the trailing edge of the color-printed area.
Abstract: A portable telecommunications apparatus which is capable of communicating with a destination communication apparatus, such as a public radio base station, through a radio telecommunications channel, including: a detector which detects if the portable telecommunication apparatus has entered a service area of the destination communication apparatus. A sound generator notifies a user by a sound when it is detected that the portable telecommunications apparatus has entered the service area of the destination communication apparatus, and a sounding mode setting device which sets a sounding mode in which the sound is generated by the sound generator when it is detected that the portable telecommunication apparatus has entered the service area of the destination communication apparatus.
Abstract: A data input device including a display screen on which a keyboard appears, and a tablet that covers the screen. Keys are displayed in such a manner that a single alphabet character appears in a single key representation area. A mark drawn with a pen on the tablet indicates the transformation or modification of the specified character, such that a character indicated by a touch is entered in lowercase, and a character indicated by a check is entered in uppercase. Furthermore, by displaying a plurality of symbols in a single key representation area, one of the symbols can be selected and entered, depending on the manner in which the pen touches the screen.
Abstract: Information associated with an organization chart is stored in a personnel database. An organization chart processing program reads out organization chart information from the personnel database and displays the organization chart on the screen of a display device. When a user designates "move" or the like to an employee or a department/section on the organization chart through an input unit, an organization chart editing processing program executes this designation and changes the organization chart. The change contents are reflected on the personnel database. An official announcement processing program forms an official announcement record for an employee subjected to personnel changes upon the change in organization chart and stores the official announcement record in an official announcement history file. This official announcement record is printed out as a written official announcement for personnel changes through a printer.

Abstract: An imaging apparatus has a portable monitor. Image data taken by the imaging apparatus is compressed and stored. The monitor serves as a view finder which displays image data which is being observed, and also serves to reproduce and display image data stored in a memory. A removable modem is coupled to the imaging apparatus. When the modem is coupled to the imaging apparatus, image data obtained by photography is transmitted through the telephone line. Like the image data, voice data can be stored in the memory and transmitted through the modem. The image data and the voice data can be compressed and combined with each other. By transmitting and receiving such synthesized data, the imaging apparatus can be used as a TV telephone.
