  • Patent number: 5481663
Abstract: A word processor with an automatic layout function which automatically moves a possible figure, related to a text of a document to be moved in an automatic layout process, in conjunction with the movement of the text. For example, when a text surrounded in a horizontally long rectangular frame figure and related in position to the figure is to be shifted rightward, a CPU analyses the layout structure of the document the data on which is stored in a document memory 12-1, stores data on the result of the analysis in an analysis data buffer 12-3 and determines whether the result of the analysis meets layout rules the data on which is set in an edition rule dictionary memory 12-2. In this case, if the text data does not meet the layout rules and the text data is to be moved rightward, the horizontally long frame figure related in position to the text is also moved automatically rightward in conjunction with the movement of the text.

  • Patent number: 5481264
Abstract: In a data inputting apparatus, marks are represented in a matrix form on a surface of a cylindrical data drum. These marks are constructed of characters/symbols, character ornamentation symbols, and character type designation symbols. The data drum is rotated by manipulating a knob to select a mark row containing a desired mark in correspondence with a data selection window, and also the marks present in this selected mark rows are selected in unit of column by operating column selecting keys, thereby selecting a single desired mark. A selection signal of the desired data corresponding to the above-described desired mark is produced by selecting these row and column of the marks. When this selection signal corresponds to the character/symbol mark, data about this character/symbol mark is read out from a font ROM employed in the data inputting apparatus.

  • Patent number: 5479219
Abstract: If it is determined that a current time when a power switch is operated manually is equal to or close to a reservation time indicated by preset reservation time data, a power source automatically starts supplying a power source current to individual circuits of a broadcasting receiving apparatus main body. Otherwise, supply of a power source current to the individual circuits is not performed. This prevents a receiving unit from unnecessarily receiving a broadcasting electric wave. When completion of broadcasting of all broadcasting contents of a broadcasting program is detected, the power source stops supplying the power source current to the individual circuits of the broadcasting receiving apparatus main body. This also prevents the receiving unit from unnecessarily receiving a broadcasting electric wave.

  • Patent number: 5476427
Abstract: When a lap switch is operated, data of a lap time stored in a register T is stored in a lap register pointed out by a pointer PR. An average pace for a section of a course is calculated on the basis of data of a step count for that section stored in a register H and data on the lap time for that section stored in the register T. Data on a calculated average pace is stored in a lap register. A pace difference between the present and the immediately preceding average pace is calculated and data on the pace difference is stored in an appropriate lap register. Thereafter, the pointer PR is incremented by one.

  • Patent number: 5477349
Abstract: A liquid crystal injecting method, wherein the area of a portion of a liquid crystal cell, which is dipped in a liquid crystal contained in a liquid crystal vessel, is reduced to a minimum, thereby preventing the liquid crystal in the vessel from being contaminated with foreign matter and reducing the amount of the liquid crystal which unnecessarily adheres to the outer surface of the cell. The liquid level of the liquid crystal in the vessel is detected by a sensor. Liquid crystal is supplied to the vessel on the basis of the detected liquid level to maintain the liquid level at a predetermined height. A portion of the liquid crystal is raised. A liquid crystal injecting port of the cell is dipped into the raised portion of the liquid crystal after an inner space of the cell is evacuated. Thus, the liquid crystal is injected into the cell.

  • Patent number: 5475539
Abstract: An electronic video data recording system includes a camera apparatus for photoelectric-converting an incident optical image into electronic image data; a memory card detachably mounted on the camera apparatus and containing a random access memory to store the electronic image data; and a video tape recorder or other outside storage device for recording the image data which have been previously stored in the random access memory of the detachable memory card, the image data being supplied from the memory card through the camera apparatus. When taking the image, the detachable memory card is mounted on the camera apparatus so as to store the image data into the random access memory thereof. When the image data stored in the detachable memory card are recorded, they are transferred from the memory card into the video tape recorder, via the camera apparatus. The detachable memory card can then be re-used.

  • Patent number: 5474077
Abstract: An exercise-level of difficulty data output apparatus outputs exercise-level of difficulty of an exercise which a user takes, as exercise-level of difficulty data, which can be used for general purposes in the exercise physiology. Using the apparatus, the user can objectively learn the exercise level of difficulty of his (or her) exercise for keeping himself healthy or for developing his physical strength. The exercise-level of difficulty data output apparatus calculates exercise-level of difficulty data from counted pulse number of the user and his age, and outputs the exercise-level of difficulty data. Further, the exercise-level of difficulty data output apparatus calculates and displays a predetermined pulse-number range indicating the most suitable exercise level of difficulty for the age of the user.

  • Patent number: 5471438
Abstract: A wrist watch (1) is provided with a cover member (3) attached to a wrist watch case (2) by a coupling portion (3) in a openable/closable manner. A liquid crystal display device (4) to display time is incorporated in the cover member (3). A retaining section (7) for retaining a disk-like data memory is provided on the upper surface of the wrist watch case (2). The data memory in the .retaining section (7) is securely held with the cover member (3) closed. Data in the disk memory (9) is read and processed by the electronic circuitry (2b) of a watch, and is sent to the liquid crystal display device (4) via a flexible circuit board (2e). The data is then converted into a time which is in turn displayed. The data memory can therefore be very easily attached or detached, and is securely held. The wrist watch itself can be made compact. Replacing the data memory with another one can provide advantages such as displaying various types of data.

  • Patent number: 5467210
Abstract: A board-shaped lower glass substrate of a liquid crystal display (LCD) device has a size larger than a board-shaped upper glass substrate of the LCD device. An edge of part of the lower glass substrate extending beyond a corresponding edge of the upper glass substrate has a plurality of IC chips mounted thereon. Output pads connected to output electrodes of the IC chips are mounted to that edge of the lower glass substrate on the side of the display area of the LCD device. Input pads connected to input electrodes of the IC chips are mounted to that edge of the lower glass substrate on the side remote from the display area. Wiring patterns formed on that edge of the lower glass substrate and connected to the input and output pads extend along the direction of an arrangement of IC the chips. One end of each wiring pattern is positioned at an edge of the lower glass substrate.

  • Patent number: 5467440
Abstract: A data edit unit creates an employee master file and a position table file. An intra-block arrangement definition table is created via a data input unit. An intermediate table creation unit creates an intermediate table by looking up the employee master file and a position table in the position table file, and stores the intermediate table in an intermediate table file. A hierarchical block development unit creates print image data of an organization chart in which print image data of respective blocks are arranged at corresponding hierarchical positions, in a hierarchical image memory by looking up the intermediate table and the intra-block arrangement definition table. A print image development unit connects the blocks by ruled lines in accordance with the hierarchy connection relationship by looking up the intermediate table, thus completing print image data of an organization chart. The organization chart is printed out via a print unit.
