  • Patent number: 6362753
Abstract: Determining whether AC component prediction is effective or not based on the sum of absolute values of unpredicted AC components (&Sgr;mS0) before calculating prediction error S in the AC components. If &Sgr;mS0 is smaller than a predetermined threshold &thgr;1, it is determined that the prediction will be ineffective. In this case, the unpredicted AC components are encoded directly without calculating the prediction error S.

Abstract: Anyone using a camera device can set proper shooting conditions according to shooting result while imaging the shooting result. A plurality of sample images and shooting condition data such as shutter speed of each sample image or diaphragm value are stored in a data file of an image server. A personal computer browses images that the image server has, and download a required image (during downloading, the image server adds shooting condition data to the required image data, and generates a sample transmission image. The personal computer stores the received sample image, transmits the image to the user's camera, and records it.). The camera sets the same shooting conditions as those during shooting of the sample image based on the shooting condition data added to the sample image when predetermined key operation is made while the sample image is displayed.

  • Publication number: 20020030784
Abstract: Right end portions of upper half lines in the scanning signal lines are connected to a semiconductor integrated circuit device via leading lines provided on a right side thereof, and left end portions of lower half lines in the scanning signal lines are connected to a semiconductor integrated circuit device via leading lines provided on a left side thereof. Therefore, the size of a liquid crystal display device in a widthwise direction thereof can be reduced. Also, since crossing points of the leading lines connected to the scanning signal lines are arranged outside the right side edge portion and a left side edge portion of a light shielding film, such a drawback can be prevented from occurring that ionic impurities eluted from the sealing member due a potential difference between the leading lines and the light shielding film corrode the leading lines.

  • Patent number: 6350017
Abstract: Each of heating elements comprises a heating resistor, and a pair of a common electrode and an individual electrode formed on ends of said heating resistor so that a heating area of the heating resistor is exposed. A barrier layer covers the electrodes so that the electrodes are not exposed to the ink in the ink flow passage, that is, not only upper surface of the electrodes, but also edges thereof are covered with the barrier layer. The barrier layer is made of, for example, single atomic metal such as Ta and Ti, oxide, corrosion resistant amorphous alloy, titanium nitride, titanium-tungsten, or the like. The barrier layer has the thickness of 10 to 1,000 nm, and is made by electroless plating or the like. The barrier layer is effective in preventing not only corrosion but also migration as contact surface corrosion.

Abstract: A voice expressed by a voice actor or actress to a look and behavior of a character is electronized into voice data. The voice data and character data are stored in an associated relationship in a server device of an enterprise. A list of voice data stored in the server device is sent to a user's information terminal over the Internet. At the user's request, the server selects corresponding voice data and sells it to the user. The server also sells image data of the character.

  • Patent number: 6349315
Abstract: A document output apparatus outputs a document made up of plural cells in such a manner that either the characters entered in cells or the backgrounds of the cells are colored in accordance with the kinds of data assigned to the cells. The document output apparatus has plural color tables, and each of these color tables stores plural color information corresponding to respective values of the data. When one of the color tables is designated, color information corresponding to the values of the cells are retrieved from the designated color table. The cells are drawn in the colors defined in the designated color table. Accordingly, it is possible to eliminate the need to define color information for each of the cells of the document.

  • Patent number: 6345889
Abstract: By forming an outer wall over a space around an ink storage chamber of an ink cartridge or by providing convexities arranged at intervals of not more than 10 mm on an outer surface of a housing which forms the ink storage chamber, a possible ink recharging hole provided in the housing is prevented from being sealed. Different kinds of ink cartridges are manufactured which have different inner compositions which cannot be discriminated in appearance. Any desired ink cartridges are selected randomly from those manufactured ones and shipped. This prevents the user from recharging any one of the ink cartridges with an ink from an unreliable source through a possible hole formed in the wall of the ink cartridge to thereby prevent a print head and/or printer from malfunctioning.

  • Patent number: 6341428
Abstract: A tilt detecting device for use in various electronic apparatuses such as a watch, electronic notebook or the like. The tilt detecting device includes a projection in a part of a ball containing portion formed in an interior of an insulation case. In the insulation case, two conductive pins are disposed thereon in parallel with each other with a predetermined space, which have a large diameter portion, a small diameter portion and a step between them. In the ball containing portion, a conductive ball is contained therein, which is movable along in a longitudinal direction of the two conductive pins in the ball containing portion when the insulation case is inclined. Only when the insulation case is inclined, the conductive ball is at a position on the large diameter portions to be electrically in contact with the two conductive pins to output a corresponding detection signal.

  • Patent number: 6342663
Abstract: A musical performance training apparatus communicates with a musical instrument having light emitting elements for respective operation elements (e.g., musical keys). The apparatus sequentially reads, in advance, respective note data of a musical performance training part before their respective play timings (note-on timings), sequentially reads respective note data of automatic performance parts at their respective play timings and sends them to the instrument so that the light emitting elements are so controlled by the note data of the training part as to notify a trainee of key(s) to be played next, allowing the trainee to operate keys or play the training part in time agreement with the automatic performance. When reading note data of chord notes with a time difference or error from one another, the apparatus corrects the chord notes so as to have the same play time and sends the corrected results to the instrument.

  • Patent number: 6341906
Abstract: A tape cassette is set in a cassette accommodating section of a tape printer. A magnetically affixable printing tape is fed out from a holding reel along with an ink ribbon having a non-magnetic ink layer formed thereon across a cut in the tape cassette and conveyed through between a thermal head and a platen roller while being pressed by those elements. The printing tape comprises a printing layer and a magnetic layer pasted to the printing layer. The magnetic layer is magnetized such that S and N poles are alternately arranged longitudinally of the tape to thereby prevent turns of the tape roll from shifting widthwise. The magnetic layer has a coated fluorine layer formed thereon or has wrinkles formed thereon to thereby prevent blocking from occurring on a printing face of the tape due to its winding. Thus, the printing tape is conveyed in a correct attitude to enable a high quality image to be printed thereon.

  • Publication number: 20020003589
Abstract: According to the present invention, a channel protection film is formed a little smaller in area than the gate electrode formed of a shielding metal film. A semiconductor thin film is formed such that the thickness is set not less than 200 Å and less than 400 Å. A distance A between the edge of the gate electrode in the channel length direction and the edge of the channel protection film is set around 0.2-1.2 &mgr;m, and a distance B between the edge of the gate electrode in the channel width direction and the edge of the channel protection film is set around 1-2 &mgr;m. With this constitution, the leak current of the thin film transistor due to the light irradiation can be reduced.
