Abstract: The control section of a PDA incorporating a radio communication function adds respective subaddresses as identifiers to the mail address allocated to one account. The subaddresses classify the mail address as a plurality of destinations. The control section transmits an electronic mail to which one of the subaddresses is added to a mail server. The control section also discriminates the subaddress added as an identifier to an electronic mail by accessing a mailbox in the mail server, and receives the electronic mail to which the subaddress is added.

Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device of an active matrix type, at first, an initialization signal voltage having a voltage value equal to or higher than the maximum voltage value of a display signal is applied to display pixels in a signal application period in a field period. The display signal is thereafter applied. As a result, the change amount of the voltage applied to liquid crystal due to the field-through voltage in relation to a gate pulse can be arranged to be substantially constant, and can always be cancelled by a common electrode voltage. Occurrence of flicker and seizure phenomena can be thereby restricted so that the display quality can be improved.

Abstract: There is disclosed an active matrix liquid crystal display apparatus in which a data signal line is disposed apart from a pixel electrode, a gate insulating film is disposed between the data signal line and an extending portion of an auxiliary capacity line, the extending portion is superposed upon a peripheral portion of the pixel electrode, and a parasitic capacity Cds between the pixel electrode and the data signal line is reduced.

Abstract: In carrying out data communication by use of a communication network where accounting is made according to a data amount, the start and end of transmission/reception of a set of objective data to be transmitted/received are recognized, and the amount of packets transmitted/received from the start to the end of transmission/reception of the set of objective data to be transmitted/received is measured, and thereby a communication charge is calculated, and it is judged whether or not the calculated communication charge has reached a warning money amount specified by a user, and when it is judged that the calculated communication charge has reached the warning money amount, a warning to that effect is given to the user.

After the elapsed time is more than two hours, an alarm is sounded at intervals of two minutes (steps SA13-SA14) to urge a user to acquire new ephemeris data at a spot suitable for receiving radio waves from the satellites before an effective term of the old ephemeris data is expired.

Abstract: In a method of manufacturing an ink-jet printer which uses a thin film sheet having adhesive layers respectively formed on the top and bottom sides, as an orifice plate, orifices are formed in the ink-ejecting side of the thin film sheet after the adhesive layer on that ink-ejecting side has been removed. This prevents the formation of the orifices from being adversely affected by any otherwise residual of the adhesive layer and can thus permit accurate formation of orifices of a desired shape. Even if helicon-wave dry etching which ensure fast etching using high-power energy is used to form orifices, therefore, no adhesive layer is thermally expanded to be a residual so that multiple orifices can be formed simultaneously and quickly.
