Abstract: A sofabed which includes a first base frame serving as the seat of a sofa or the bed piece of a bed and defining a space for keeping pillows, quilts, etc., a second base frame retractably connected to the first base frame and moved between the retracted position received inside tile first base frame and the extended position to serve as the base frame of a second bed, a seat frame supported on the first base frame, a second seat frame pivoted to the first base frame and set at the desired angle to serve as the back of the sofa the bed piece of the second bed, and two armrest frames adjustably connected to the first base frame at two opposite ends.

Abstract: This invention relates to a video display high voltage generator. In the generator, the primary coil, the high voltage coil and the multiple foil high voltage capacitors of the multiplier are sequentially formed into a trausformer assembly on the insulating tube. The stepup capacitors are formed through an electrostatic induction of the metallized foil in the assembly, the two groups of the stepup capacitors are wound on the high voltage coil in opposite directions so as to nullify the voltages magnetically induced thereon, forming the wound metallized foils into pure capacitors without causing electromagnetic interference on the other equipments. The transformer assembly is mounted on the center pole of the ferrite casing and accomodated in the space provided by the casing. The magnetic path is formed by the center pole bases and rim of the ferrite casing.

Abstract: This invention is a multilevel trellis coding method which employs a single binary convolutional code and is called a single-stage and multilevel trellis coding. This invention can be generalized by combining several single-stage multilevel codings together to form a multilevel trellis coding for which the number of stages is less than the number of coding levels. New trellis coded modulation systems and binary trellis coding systems which are designed by the aforementioned trellis coding method are better than the currently known coding systems if the communication channels are additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channels.

Abstract: A roller bearing consists of a hollow cylindrical main body, two annular locating plates, a plurality of rolling bodies and elastic elements. The cylindrical main body is provided with at least three roller grooves equidistantly and equiangularly spaced and disposed around its interior hollow. Each roller groove is configured to have an elastic element seat arranged at its deeper end. The groove wall around the groove opening connected to the interior hollow of the main body extends and forms a reduced neck portion, which makes the groove opening have a width smaller than the diameter of rolling bodies to keep rolling bodies from dropping out of the groove. On the central area of each end surface of the cylindrical main body is an inner annular portion and between end surfaces of the main body and of the inner annular portions are provided with locating grooves.

Abstract: A cutting board for cutting food articles comprising a relatively flat rectangular body with a handle, a cutting surface, a bottom surface, a juice channel, a sloping guide plane and leveling means. The cutting surface is curved to allow fluid to flow into the juice channel, the juice channel having grooves to allow fluid in the juice channel to be poured out. Raised teeth protruding from the cutting surface grip the article being cut. After the article is cut, it is guided off the cutting board by way of the shovel chute.

Abstract: An improved formative flag has a flag embodiment having holes at proper positions for disposing fastening seats thereon so as to secure a plurality of light bulbs thereto. A flag pole is made up of two sections which are coupled by a connecting tube. A battery box is housed in a receiving bag at the one side of the flag embodiment. The battery box having one end connected to the light bulbs for supply of power thereto. The flag embodiment can be decorated with any kinds of artistic drawings so as to make the flag appealing to the eyes of people.

In a transmissive system, the recording media layers are sensitive to the polarization (linear or circular) of a light beam. The control layers are polarization modulators. In a reflective system, the control layers are notch filters.

Abstract: The present invention relates to telecommunication technology, and more particularly, to a method and apparatus for pulse communication wherein rectangular pulse is replaced by cosine pulse. According to the present invention, cosine pulse analog modulation signal or cosine pulse code modulation signal may be transmitted in communication channel. Inside the enclosure of two communication apparatus designed according to the above method, there is provided circuits for converting rectangular pulse into cosine pulse by electronic switch. The present invention has the advantages of narrow occupation bandwidth, high output power, long transmission distance, and no intersymbol interference, etc. S/N ratio and crosstalk are improved greatly. In addition, when the conventional transmitter is switched to work under cosine pulse transmission, receiver can work without any amendment and communication quality is improved too.

Abstract: A toilet-paper holder has a casing with a pan. The pan has a base, a peripheral wall extending from the base and an open end. The peripheral wall has an exit opening. The casing further has a cover which is pivoted to the pan and which covers openably the open end of the pan. The cover has a base wall opposite to the base of the pan. A stationary shaft is provided in the casing and has a first end fixed to the base of the pan and a second end extending toward the base wall of the cover. A sleeve member is mounted coaxially and rotatably to the stationary shaft and has an end which extends toward the base wall of the cover. A rotary knob is mounted movably on the base wall of the cover and is operable to rotate the sleeve member.

Abstract: Light developed by an implantable probe is used to illuminate a treatment site that has been perfused with a photoreactive agent. A number of different embodiments of implantable probes are disclosed. Preferably, an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs) or solid-state laser diodes (LDs) are mounted on a light bar inside the implantable probe and are energized either using a storage battery power source, an inductively coupled external transformer, or with current provided in leads running through a flexible catheter that extends outside the patient's body to an external source. The implantable probe is normally intended to be disposed inside a patient's body during a surgical procedure, at a treatment site, and left in place for several days (or longer) after an incision is closed, while light produced by the array of LEDs or solid-state LDs irradiates the treatment site.

Abstract: An improved hinge connector for pivotal glasses temples is equipped with a hinge mounted onto a glasses frame and a pivot connector having a deep hole disposed at the rear portion thereof; -shaped block in which part of the pivot connector is housed; a spring and a rivet pin having a rivet head and a pole which is led through the spring with the pole having a number of grooves at the front end thereof. The front end of the pole is inserted into the deep hole of the pivot connector and is forged into permanent engagement with the pivot connector, and the spring is limited in place between the rivet head and the end of pivot connector and the end of the -shaped block whereby the temples of a glasses can be outwardly extended in excess of 90 degrees without breaking or damage.

Abstract: A connecting structure for connecting a glasses temple with a glasses frame is disclosed. The connecting structure includes a hinge means composed of a first hinge member and a second hinge member, a U-shaped resilient member, a compression spring and a rivet pin, wherein the first hinge member is fixed on one side of a glasses frame and pivotally connected with the second hinge member by a screw. The second hinge member is formed with a rear shaft hole and the rivet pin has a head portion and a shaft portion. The U-shaped resilient member has two slightly outward stretched free ends and is disposed at a rear end of the second hinge member.

Abstract: Golf grips for attachment to the shaft of a golf club which are adapted for use by individuals including those having physical disabilities such as arthritis or an infirm grip are provided. The golf grips are formed from an elastomeric material and include integral first and second sections. Both the first and second sections include a forward portion having a substantially rectangular shape in cross-section and a rearward portion having a substantially elliptical shape in cross-section. The first forward portion includes a radially outwardly extending flange disposed along a top surface of the grip and a radially outwardly extending hilt disposed along an underside surface of the grip. Another radially outwardly extending flange is provided along the second forward portion.

A piston rod is connected to the piston at one end and extends through a lower end of the cylinder body. A first positioning member is fitted in the cylinder body adjacent to an upper end of the latter. A second positioning member has an axial hole formed therein and is fitted in the cylinder body between the first positioning member and the piston. A hollow tube has a radial hole formed through a wall portion thereof and extends axially in the cylinder body between the first and second positioning members.

Abstract: An effect-enhancing structure for rinsing a flush toilet includes a plurality of sets of a water-supply device and a floating ball, a trunk duct conducting water into a water case, a distributing duct set transversely and connected to the trunk duct, stop valves connected to the distributing duct to provide a distribution of water supply, and water supply ducts; wherein the stop valves are connected to rods of the floating ball separately to control the switching so as to increase the hydraulic pressure of stored water.

Abstract: An has included a furnace, a blower at one side of the furnace, a fuel supply means, a wind guiding means, a filter means, a broiling chamber, and a dust expelling means. The furnace has a combustion chamber at inner bottom portion adapted to burn trash therein by lighting a fire on the trash through the fuel supply means. Ashes results from burning trash are cleaned through a door on the broiling chamber. Waste gas results from burning trash is expelled through the filter means whereas most particles of the smoke are falling on the bottom of the furnace and only a few amount of particles and the Carbone Monoxide are expelled through exhaust fan of the filter means.

Abstract: A waterproof stereo cover assembly includes a stereo-mounting frame for mounting a stereo therein, a waterproof cover pivotally attached to the stereo-mounting frame, and sealing members mounted in the stereo-mounting frame for sealing the stereo-mounting frame. The stereo-mounting frame has a notch formed on and extending lengthwise along an upper frame thereof, defining two end walls. A polygonal socket is symmetrically formed in each of the two end walls of the notch. A slot having a width slightly less than that of the polygonal socket extends from each polygonal socket to a front side of the stereo-mounting frame. The waterproof cover has a flange extending on an upper edge thereof, being received in the notch.

Abstract: A hair appliance for directing a stream of warm air towards the hair includes an elongated barrel having an air inlet and an air outlet opposite to the air inlet. An electric heating device is provided inside the barrel between the air inlet and the air outlet. A reservoir is mounted adjacent to the air outlet of the barrel and contains a liquid, such as water or hair conditioning solution. The reservoir has a hole and a liquid-permeable member which is inserted in the hole and which extends into the barrel. A heat conducting member is connected to the electric heating device and is disposed adjacent to the liquid-permeable member in order to allow the liquid to evaporate and to be entrained in the air stream.
