Patents Assigned to Comcast Cable Communications, LLC
  • Patent number: 12231722
Abstract: Methods and systems for delivering content are described. A content distribution network may utilize multiple content sources and datacenters when delivering content to a requesting device. One or more service metrics associated with the content as it is being prepared for delivery at each of the datacenters may be monitored by a quality agent. The quality agent may use the one or more service metrics to select a distribution datacenter to deliver the content to the requesting device. The quality agent may instruct the remaining datacenters to disable delivery of the content to the requesting device.

  • Patent number: 12231631
Abstract: A spatial complexity and a temporal complexity associated with one or more frames of media content may be determined. Based on the spatial complexity and the temporal complexity of the media content, a Group of Picture (GOP) size for the one or more frames of the media content may be determined. The GOP size may be inversely proportional to the spatial complexity and the temporal complexity of the one or more frames of media content. Certain frames of the media content may be arranged in a different GOP size as compared to one or more other frames of the media content. By varying the GOP size of the plurality of frames of the media content, the bitrate required to transmit the media content may be decreased without decreasing or substantially decreasing the overall quality of the media content.

  • Patent number: 12231752
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for using one or more components of a device, such as a camera, to generate complementary heat for the device, such as a camera lens of the device. In one aspect this can be accomplished by activating the one or more components and/or by causing the one or more components to operate in a particular manner expected to generate heat. The generated heat may be instead of or in addition to heat generated by one or more dedicated heaters. The selected components may produce heat as an incidental effect for performing other functions of the device.

  • Patent number: 12231238
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for wireless communications. A base station may transmit wireless device-specific downlink control information comprising HARQ feedback to a wireless device. Coordinating a plurality of HARQ feedbacks may result in complicated processing at the base station and/or a delay to schedule a HARQ feedback for the wireless device. The transmission of the downlink control information may not require HARQ feedback from a wireless device. By reducing the transmission of HARQ feedback, the channel capacity utilized for error correction transmissions can be reduced, thereby enhancing resource utilization.

  • Patent number: 12231598
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for improving caller identification in telecommunications services based on general-purpose networks are described. A gateway device may process invitation messages sent from a telephone via a private branch exchange, in which the private branch exchange has replaced the number of the telephone with a customized number. The gateway device may determine that the customized number is mapped to an account-related number, and insert that number into a field of the invitation messages that is examined by a telecommunications provider and associated trunking services for account-related purposes.

  • Patent number: 12231445
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for real-time security monitoring on a computing device are presented. A system may define privileges to access hardware interfaces for each process of a plurality of processes executing on a computing device. The privileges may be defined in a privileged operating system level that controls root access to an operating system. In response to a determination that a process is attempting to access a hardware interface, the system may determine whether the process is privileged to access the hardware interface by checking the privileges. In response to determining that the process is not privileged to access the hardware interface, the intrusion detection agent may terminate the process.

  • Patent number: 12225204
Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for processing video. An encoder may generate, for a sequence of video frames, a plurality of first segments and a plurality of second segments. The plurality of first segments may comprise stream access points (SAPs) of a first type that do not reset a picture reference buffer. The plurality of second segments may comprise SAPs of a second type that do reset the picture reference buffer. The encoder may send segments of the plurality of first segments to a computing device streaming video when network conditions are steady. The encoder may send a segment of the plurality of second segments following a switch, by the computing device, to a different bitrate based on a change to the network conditions. Once the computing device has decoded the segment the plurality of second segments, the encoder may send subsequent first segments at the different bitrate.

  • Patent number: 12224936
Abstract: Some aspects of the methods and systems presented relate to performing stateless address translation between IPv4 capable devices to IPv6 capable networks and devices. Stateless address translation may form a new IPv6 addresses by combining the IPv4 address of a device with an IPv6 prefix address assigned to the translator. The translation may also combine the IPv4 destination address and UDP port information with the new IPv6 address. Existing Domain Name Systems (DNSs) may be leveraged for resolving the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses across different networks.

  • Patent number: 12225137
Abstract: Systems and methods are described that relate to authentication and/or binding of multiple devices with varying security profiles. In one aspect, a first device with a higher security profile may vouch for the authenticity of a second device with a lower security profile when the second device requests access for content from a content provider. The vouching process may be implemented by allowing the first device to overlay its digital signature on a registration request that has been signed and transmitted by the second device. The second device with the lower security profile may access content from the content provider or source for a predetermined time period, even when the second device does not access content through the first device.

  • Patent number: 12225601
Abstract: Disclosed are various systems and methods for monitoring and maintaining networks, such as networks associated with a wireless access point. In an aspect, a user device that was connected the wireless access point and loses connectivity to the access point can receive network parameters for implementing a new wireless network, where the network parameters are associated with the network as implemented by the wireless access point that is no longer available. The user device can activate a new wireless hotspot mode using the received network parameters. The resulting new wireless hotspot can implement various aspects of the wireless access point and associated network. The new wireless hotspot enabled by the user device can allow other devices, previously connected to the access point, to automatically connect to the new wireless hotspot.

  • Patent number: 12224938
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing a network are disclosed. One method can comprise receiving data having information identifying a first path to a destination, wherein the information facilitates transmission of the data to a next-hop of the first path. A congestion state of the first path can be determined. If the first path has a congested state, a second path to the destination can be determined, wherein the second path has a non-congested state. The information of the data can be updated to identify the second path to the destination, wherein the updated information facilitates transmission of the data to a next-hop of the second path.

  • Patent number: 12224977
Abstract: Described herein are methods and systems for improved domain name resolution/routing. Routing data associated with domain names (e.g., websites) may be cached by a Domain Name System (DNS) based on historical domain name queries. The historical domain name queries may be analyzed to determine a ranking (e.g., popularity) for the domain names at multiple time intervals throughout a day, week, etc. Routing data for the highest ranked domain names during one or more time intervals may be cached for a period(s) of time corresponding to the one or more time intervals (e.g., times during which those domain names are most popular).
