  • Patent number: 12294754
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for managing blackout restrictions. A user device may retrieve a blackout condition from a blackout device. The blackout device may be a node in plurality of blackout nodes. Each of the blackout nodes may store blackout conditions for different corresponding content. The user device may retrieve the blackout condition from a blackout device associated with content in response to a request for the content. The user device may determine whether information associated with the user device satisfies the blackout condition. If the information satisfies the blackout condition, the requested content may be blocked. Alternative content may be output instead of the requested content.

  • Patent number: 12289487
Abstract: A plurality of content streams each including audio, video, or audio-video content may be transmitted to a plurality of premises. In addition, one or more command streams may be transmitted over a distribution network. Premises automation commands may then be sent to one or more systems based on a user selection associated with a corresponding command stream. The premises automation commands may be configured to instruct a system at a premises to perform a function. The commands may, for example, instruct a lighting system to turn on/off lights, a security system to enter an arm or disarm operational state, a thermostat to adjust its temperature, etc.

  • Patent number: 12289503
Abstract: Methods and systems for improved failover techniques are described herein. A failure associated with a content source may lead to a computing device becoming unable to output all or part of content that was requested from the content source prior to the failure. The computing device may have received a portion of a manifest associated with the content prior to the failure. The failover techniques described herein may enable the computing device to continue receiving portions of the content despite the failure. For example, an additional portion of the manifest may be modified such that the computing device may request additional portions of the content from another content source without requiring a retuning procedure.

  • Patent number: 12288229
Abstract: Methods and systems relating to generating and correlating metadata with a content item are disclosed. For example, a computing device may generate one or more timestamp indicators to be associated with a content item. Each timestamp indicator may be correlated to metadata and may be associated with a time point or time interval in a duration of the content item. A requesting device may generate a request for metadata that may comprise an identifier of a timestamp indicator. The request may be generated, for example, based on determining a user of the device is requesting display of an interactive application. Upon receiving a metadata request comprising an identifier of a timestamp indicator, a computing device may transmit metadata correlated to the timestamp indicator to the requesting device or to another user device.

  • Patent number: 12284239
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices relating to video encoding for low-concurrency video channels are described herein. A video processing system may receive a manifest request for an encoded video stream associated with a selected channel. Based on the manifest request, the video processing system may request for a real-time linear (RTL) encoder to be started to encode the input compressed video stream for the channel in real-time. Also based on the manifest request, the video processing system may assign a faster-than-real-time (FTRT) encoder from a pool of already-running FTRT encoders to encode the video stream in real-time until the RTL encoder is fully started. The FTRT encoder may encode at a lower quality level to enable expedited real-time encoding. Based on the RTL encoder being fully started, the video processing system may switch the encoding from the FTRT encoder to the RTL encoder. The FTRT encoder may be returned to the FTRT encoder pool.

  • Patent number: 12284237
Abstract: Methods and systems for intelligent use of off-peak bandwidth are disclosed. An example method can comprise receiving a request for content from a user device. The content server can transmit the content to the user device. Upon receiving a teardown command to suspend transmission of the content, after transmitting a first portion of the content to the user device, the content server can determine that playback of the content is likely to be resumed at a peak time. The content server can then pre-position a second portion of the content proximate to the user device prior to the peak time.

  • Patent number: 12277931
Abstract: First audio data associated with a first portion of a voice query (e.g., an incomplete voice query) may be received (e.g., by a device or a server). A first transcript may be determined by a speech recognition engine and based on the first audio data. A plurality of predicted queries may be determined by applying a prediction process to the first transcript. A response for each of the plurality of predicted queries may be determined by processing the plurality of the predicted queries. Second audio data associated with a second portion of the voice query (e.g., a complete voice query) may be received. A second transcript may be determined by the speech recognition engine and based on the second audio data. Based on comparing the second transcript to one of the plurality of predicted queries, a response for the voice query may be returned.

  • Patent number: 12278677
Abstract: A device including a plurality of antennas may sense or receive data related to a magnetic field. A strength of the magnetic field may be determined. Based on the strength of the magnetic field, a location or orientation of the device may be determined. The location of the device may be used to select an antenna from the plurality of antennas for transmitting data from the device or receiving data at the device. If the location of the device is associated with historical performance data, the historical performance data may be used to select an antenna from the plurality of antennas.

  • Patent number: 12279015
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for generating personalized menus and a media content interface are provided. In one example, different device specific media asset lists are generated at different user devices for the same user based on the media consumption history at each device. In another example, media asset listings are displayed for multicast and on-demand media assets determined to be of interest to the user. An on-demand media asset is listed at a time when no other multicast media assets are listed. In another example, media asset listings for successive episodes of a media series are displayed in sequential order in response to an input to view successive episodes of a media series. In another example, a text search for media content is performed in which the search priority of media provider results is decreased relative to the search priority of media asset results as additional characters are added to a search string.

  • Patent number: 12277938
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for assisting speech recognition processing. If speech recognition processing of speech input by an individual does not yield a recognized result, for example, if speech is from an individual with compromised speech, an indication may be sent to a device associated with another person that can assist. The other person may provide, via that device, additional input that indicates the meaning of the speech input. Based on this additional input, an assisted speech recognition result may be determined.

  • Patent number: 12273594
Abstract: A request associated with a user for content recommendation may be determined. At least one content item indicative of a viewing history associated with the user may be determined. The at least one content item indicative of the viewing history associated with the user may include content that the user has previously watched. Data associated with at least one image associated with each of a plurality of candidate content items may be determined. The plurality of candidate content items may include secondary content items that may be recommended to the user. Based on comparing data associated with at least one image associated with the at least one content item with the data associated with the at least one image associated with each candidate content item, at least one candidate content item may be determined. An indication of the at least one candidate content item may be sent, to a device associated with the user.
